Football Practice...

Well, I just started high school football and holy crap. It is tough. You never reallly get a break, if if you do any little thing wrong, you get yelled at and possibly male the entire team run a lap. It's crazy. I hate it, but I want to play so bad. So I'm gonna stick it out. Does anyone on here play football and relate?

Yeap, two a days are pretty tough I hear, especially here in Texas where it gets really hot in the afternoon. I never played football in High School, but I have a lot of friends that do.

I played for three years in high school, and it certainly is rough. Stick it out though, after these first few weeks everything is downhill, and it is a ton of fun.

I have never played football, but I do have some good advice. Make sure you drink plenty of water whether you are thirsty or not. Dehydration and heat exhaustion can easily sneak up on you.

Oh boy...freshman, freshman, freshman....I remember my first sport at High School: Cross Country Running. I was in a world of hurt and pain the first week, but I'm telling you man, if you want to get anywhere with being sucessfull in high school You GOT to stick it out.

I graduated this year but I graduated with tons of honors. It was quite the year to remember (My senior year). I did 4 years of High School Swimming and I eventually placed 4th at championships and got to be on the NCS relay team, I got the award for "Most Improved Over 4 Years". It shows too, I remember not even placing my freshman year, but years of hard work, and I won almost every 500 Yd. Free I swam.

I got a high honor for music as well. I played with the band for 4 straight years and played in the Jazz Ensemble for two.

I just want to tell all you freshman this: Its hard now, but work at it and I guarantee you, it will pay off come junior/senior year. You'll see yourself improve and get better and better, not just at sports, but at a lot of interests you might have.

As for advice I can give you for right now: Drink LOTS and LOTS of water. Not just before and after practice, all day. Its a funny habit I did. Everyone reffered to me as "The Ice Block Dude". Every night I would freeze my nalgene overnight in a freezer and bring it to school where it would gradually melt and provide me with lots of ice cold water. It pays off. Stay hydrated for as long as you stay awake.

Stick it out man, two a days are tough the first week, but even after that first week when you really start gettin into those tackling drills it starts getting a lot more fun. Don't be afraid of it, just try and enjoy it.

My mommy wouldn't let me play football. She thought because i was so thin that I'd get snapped in half. So i got recruited by the cross country coach. Now It's gonna be my senior year and I'm the captain of Varsity Boys' XC and Track. Go figure.

But, enough about me, good luck surviving football. Do you know what position you're gonna play yet?

I live in Northwestern Ohio in a city called Tiffin. Our football team has been the champions of the northern ohio league for 3 years in a row now. Mainly because of our coach. Although I will admit, 2 a days are everyday for 3 weeks and they are gruesome

It's my first year playing, and everyone says nothign beats the adrenaline you get from coming out of the tunnel on a home game night though, so thats something I have to look foward to.

Tiffin? There's a receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers (Nate Washington) from Tiffin university.

Well, I've suvived all the two-a-days. 'Hell week' as the coaches call it, is over. I'm playing Wide Reciever, corner back, and/or linebacker. We were doing tackling drills 2 days a go, and i got LAID OUT. WOW. lol. One of the best kids on the team against me, who never played football before. lol. You do the math...
The running sucks. We do a LOT of 'conditioning.' Tomorrow we have off, and monday is from 8-12. Then on Tuesday, we have a scrimmage. We're probably going to kick ass because we are really good, and if your like an averages seize 13-15 year old, trust me, you do NOT want to be in the way of our running backs.

Thats the reason I never played football, even though I'm one of the biggest kids at school. Its too much of a time committment.
