Represent your State!!!

ThrillNetwork is composed of people from across the United States, as well as through various other countries. We are connected by a common bond, that bond being a passion and possibly an obcession with roller coasters and other thrill elements. This thread is not intended on roller coaster discussion, but a discussion of your home state. In this thread answer in the poll what state you are from, and perhaps leave a comment on your likes and dislikes of that state. The main purpose is to see which state the majority of active ThrillNetwork member resides in.

I am from Kentucky, and I was born in Louisvillle, aka Derby City. My state seems to get associated with horrible stereo types, that only exist within a small fraction of the population. But thier is much good to come out of here, that many people pass up or forget entirely. I could say so many thing that praise my state, but I find it hard to just say a few things, when in reality the state offers so many good things.

I'm from Ontario
Born in Toronto (largest city in Canada) and now live about 45min east of the city.

I enjoy my free health care, proximity to the border for any trips I take, great transportation (GO transit, VIA rail, WestJet, TTC) and lower drinking/gambling ages (even though I dont do either too much, I do enjoy a night out at the casion or having a drink with dinner at a restaurant)

I dislike the recent unfreezing of tuition fees and the provinicial government allowing post-secondary educations to raise tuitions by as much as 5% each year. I also dislike the cold...not snow though, just extreme below freezing temperatures (especially when I have to walk and wait for a bus).

I always asumed that you were from Tennessee, but it turns out your not. I figured that because you always seem to be talking about Dollywood, and plus your obcession with the park is in your screen name. I find it funny that your eight hours away, I would have never of thought that your were from Illinois.

Don'ty worry your not alone most people probably thought that I was from Tennessee but *cough* unfortunetly *cough* I'm not.

Something funnier for you I live 8 hours away but I have been there about 295 times (will be over 300 by the end of the year.)

As for the parks only three hours away only 2 and 3 times

Born and raised in California:

Born in Santa Monica, Lived outside of LA for about 4 years.
Moved to Marin County, CA from age 4 to 18.
Moved to San Jose, CA from Age 18 to Present.

California is easily my favorite state in the entire U.S., We got EVERYTHING you could ever want here (Yes, including coasters). I especially love San Jose as well...the people are really nice, great hockey town (You'd never guess that!) tons of stuff to do, safe downtown, friendly townspeople (Police officers, firemen..etc.) Its great!

I am from North Carolina.

Unless I marry into the royal family, I will always live here.

I wouldn't mind though retiring in Virginia. I love being an hour from the coast, an hour from DC and in the middle of 3 parks!

Born in Philadelphia

Raised my entire life in South Jersey so I'm from New Jersey. If South Jersey could become its own state - sweeet. Trenton and Rt 195 could make the northern border - SFGADV would be ours.

In the future I could see myself still in state, or across the river in Pennsy, or up in New Hampshire.

I'm from Indianapolis, home of the 500.

Good things about Indiana: We have one of the most overachieving wooden coasters ever (Cornball Express)- It has to be the best small coaster I've ever ridden. From where I'm at, I'm two hours away from three good parks (Kings island, Indiana Beach, and Kentucky Kingdom) If you want to increase the circle to 4 hours, I add in Cedar Point, Holiday world and Angola Fun Spot (never been there, though) We have a lot of great countryside less than an hour away, and the cost of living is pretty decent, here.

Bad things about Indiana: It's not Tennessee, where my heart will always be. Our Basketball team is a bunch of thugs, It's not Tennessee, The winters are too cold, It's not Tennessee, We always have the ugliest license plates. Did I mention that it's not Tennessee?

As Joe Budden once said:
Now let me make this statement loud and clear- JERSEY'S HERE!

Best thing about Jersey, everything. Best thing about Central Jersey, even more everything. Can't get lost because every highway takes you home. The shore is a short drive away. Great Adventure has its resedency in the 732 because it's not in South Jersey because South Jersey sucks and is boring. The City is right there, and so is Philly. The Statue of Liberty (WHICH IS IN NEW JERSEY!!!). Diners everywhere, good tomatoes, great parks, loads of farms if you want (We're not the Garden State for nothing), The greatest highway ever made, the New Jersey Turnpike. That highway is the reason your highway is the way it is! And to top it all off, we drive better than all of you suckas.

^ The previous post is why everyone outside of Jersey can't stand Jersey. I think in a perfect world they would move Yankee stadium to Jersey and then we could call it New Jerkskie...

P.S. I'm just having fun with your post. You come off really arrogant..
Had to edit, forgot the e in outside. Didn't want the spellinggg policeee to arresssst mee.

SPELLING POLICE ARE HERE.

You are charged with spelling crimes against humanity.

Your sentance: 45 years of hard labor, or a perma-ban whichever you prefer.

I'm from Texas, the greatest state and home to great things like Dr. Pepper and Blue Bell.

By the way, never ask a man where he's from. If he's from Texas, he'll tell you, but if he's not, you might embarrass him.

Haha. That is true but I think the French gave it to us intending for it to be in New York, as almost all people associate it with New York today.

I agree I can't really get lost in Jersey. All roads lead towards home/somewhere familiar. The zip codes are not accurate in dividing the North/Central/South Jersey. 609 even goes up to the Trenton area thus to say SFGADV is not South Jersey because of the 732 zip code is not too accurate. It's best to say its Central but if there was just a North/South division it would be the northernmost part of being South Jersey . The REAL Garden State is in South Jersey below the Delaware Memorial Bridge. I think people believe the state ends at the Delaware Memorial but it doesn't. It's really quiet and green below it to my surprise. I thought the greenlands and farms were dead in New Jersey due to suburban development but it's not. It's there.

I probably most dislike traffic in Central Jersey. Thanks to the Hopewell/Princeton people there is not a Rt 95 to connect the Northern Trenton burbs to the where it was suppose to connect to 287 in the Somerville area. Rt. 1 thus is a nightmare. The New Jersey Turnpike is a great road in its own right but it's no Rt. 95 though half of it is being redesignated that.

Texas didn't like my Jersey driving.

It is true that the Statue of Liberty is technically in New Jersey.

I would stick a finger in my mouth hearing North Jersey is the 6th burrough of NYC sometimes. I have no connection to any New Jersey pro teams or the technically Jersey NFL teams. I can see the Philly skyline from the bridge near my house. I kinda wish we had the pride in NJ like the people of Texas do to fly huge Texan flags on car dealerships, everywhere.
