I have struggled and struggled to lose the rest of my weight. I lost about 60 and then for some reason I started gaining again, and I'm just down a net of 35.

But I did join a gym early this year and have been pretty faithful. I know it's making a difference , even though its not showing on the scale that much. My stamina and ability to walk at parks and not need rests has come a long way. I mean, if I can stand being at Carowinds for 14 hours in the Carolina heat 2 weeks ago, then that's saying something.

I'm really bored with my diet though, I don't like to cook, and I'm about tired of all the easy stuff that is healthy like the steamed veggies and such. And I like to eat out too much too.

But I'm slowly making some changes like less tea, and more water and I know if I can get a handle on it this time around that I should be able to keep it off for the rest of my life.

Good news on coasters is that I haven't been denied a coaster in a at least 2 years, maybe longer than that. I think the last flat ride I was denied was Superman TOP at St Louis cause their belts were so short (2007). I'm worried about El Toro though if I ever get up there this year.

I've lost 3 inches off my waist since Spring 2008. Due to the unfortunate circumstance I'm in right now, I won't be eating as much, so I see myself dieting (probably not the right way either) and losing more weight. 42 inch wiast jeans are still a bit tight, but once I get down to 39-40, I will be very happy, plus my beer belly is slowly deflating.

When Continental Airlines did my pre-employment physical test back in April 2008, I tipped the scale at 174 lbs, which turned out to be my peak weight. I weighed myself one year later and it was down to 158 lbs. All that hard work on the ramp really got me back into shape again.

Not just working out, but also not eating as much....usually I eat a light breakfast snack before I leave for work, skip lunch while at work, and a quality dinner at home has become my daily routine.

On an interesting note, at the time I only weighed 107 lbs when I graduated from high school; my metabolism must have been really high.

When I took my physical as part of the EMT class I was taking in 2007 I weighed about 300 pounds so I have not gained a lot over the last few years but I am no longer settling for no gaining is good.

Yeah, You guys are right. I was just watching the end of the Marlins' sweep of my Phils. The Marlins left fielder, age 24 is 6 foot 198lbs so I really just have to move it towards muscle.

Hey, welcome back!

I like the idea of your site, I would just hope you don't totally point fingers at the manufacturers (which I don't think you really are). The simple fact is most manufacturers are in Europe, and Europeans are just not nearly as fat as Americans. You hardly ever seen morbidly obese people in pictures over there.

For me, I got to the point where Top Gun (Carowinds) was almost too tight for me to even ride, and I decided that if I was going to be able to ride my favorite coaster at my home park, I was going to have to lose weight.

And as far as linking, the links page was taken down when TN was revamped, and Steven is still working on getting it back up.

And speaking of Carowinds, their new coaster is going to keep my motivated because I'm afraid they might try to pull a CP on us and make us get 3 clicks on the the hyper at Carowinds. They did that the first ride I got on Diamondback, but then let me go with 2 clicks (which is all B&M's computer requires to dispatch).

I just don't want to take any chances on missing out on our hyper which I've "waited" 10 years for, ever since riding Apollo's Chariot.

I have been reading all along but something happened and I could not log in. I want to tell you what has been going on with me. I broke my knee cap the middle of November. I have had 3 surgeries and lost my job. I then had my tubes that run to my stomach from my testicles come undone and wadded up in my testicles. I had to have all that removed (not the testicles). I have gained 80 lbs since out of work. It has been a trying time to say the least.

The website is coming along and it is going to cover much more than just coasters. I am open to anyones suggestions on it and welcome any ideas you may have. I know some of you are not in need of a site like that but since obesity is on the rise it is a good opportunity. I am glad they got my login fixed so I can share what is going on. I have to loose this weight again that I lost 2 years ago. God is good and even tho it is disgorging I plan to loose it and not be to fat to ride next year. PS: I think Obama sucks more not than ever

^ I think you mean discouraging, not disgorging.

Anyway, I think it's a great idea that I really haven't run across on the net. Because all the weight loss related sites are always trying to sell you something.

And yes, obesity is definitely on the rise. Just go to any amusement park in the South and you'll see that.

Good luck!

Thought I'd chime in really quick. So after getting down to 258 about a year ago, well, let's say the fall and winter haven't been too kind to me. At around 280 right now. I went on the TPR Texas trip and rode every coaster though--I was worried about the three Batman clones, Poltergeist, and Mr. Freeze. The only thing I got denied on was the parachute rides at SFoT because it had a specified weight limit. MasterBlaster had some sort of weight limit (250 I think?) but I rode it anyway.
Similar to Wes, now that there's an Intamin giga opening up 20 minutes from my home I know I'll probably have to shed some weight to be able to ride that one consistently. I really hope they don't pull a Millennium Force requirement on that one and the trains are more similar to the ones put on Bizarro this year.

I don't know how I will compensate people but I would love some of you to write some reviews of parks you have been to so that I have never been to.I will also have a forum that I would love to get your participation on. Again, I am in NO WAY competing with ThrillNetwork at all. This is only for larger people and we will not be discussing anything like we do here. Also it will cover everything from chairs to clothing and of coarse fitting on the coasters.

I am trying to deal with Six Flags and I will be contacting Cedar Fair as well and trying to get some access to doing some video of the coaster cars. Like do videos of me getting in and out and showing people how much room I have or don't have. I will keep my measurements up on the site so people can see exactly where they stand before ever going to the park.

I think you'll find people out there that will be glad to write reviews of parks for no pay.

I mean people do it on TPR and other places all the time just for fun.

We could just start a page with the US parks and review what we've been to, etc.

That would be great. I have a few things lined up with companies not related to amusement parks. I will be going and interviewing the owners and doing videos of the products that they have.

I am going to be doing a drawing for 2010 season passes to Six Flags or Cedar Fair. All you have to do is sign up for a free membership to the site. The drawing will be done on video and put on the site at the beginning of the year. The winners will have a choice to what company they will get the pass too.

Anyone that would like to contribute a review of a park that you have gone would be much appreciated. Again, only if you are over weight and have had to deal with amusement parks from that point of view. You can send me an email at randy@not120.com and I will get you set up as a contributor to the site. Since the site is in the beginning I am not sure what all privileges you may get as a contributor but I will be working on that as well.

I would like to know if anyone has some pictures they will let me use. I am looking for close up shots of roller coaster seats. I am needing them all parks but right now Six Flags Over Georgia would be great. If you can help let me know.

Well I am down to 284 which is the first time I have been south of 285 since 2003. One of the reasons I have not lost as much as I would have liked to was because of damage to my bicycle.

A few weeks ago I was out on my bicycle on a bike trail. There was some others coming and I got over too far and hit a wall (as soon as I did I knew that what was coming next was going to hurt) and then hit the ground hard, in fact I would say that has been the hardest I have ever hit the ground on a bicycle. The end result was quite a bit of damage to my bicycle. Since it was already a piece of junk to begin with and I was going to need a new back wheel, new sprocket, and possibly had a bent frame I decided to just get another one. Saturday I got a new one. I have not had the chance to ride it yet but hopefully tomorrow I can take it out.

Thats great that you are loosing it. I want to ride but after breaking my shoulder, being run over by a car, smashing my nuts and having 2 surgeries to repair the damage to the nuts plus another surgery to do reconstructive surgery on my shoulder, I think my biking days are done no matter how skinny I get

First of all, I would like to say that I admire your drive against all the setbacks. I wish you nothing but good luck. I weigh about 260 and am trying to get down to 220 by the end of the year. I started lifting last year and actually added muscle mass and weight to my frame. That was a bit discouraging but I'd rather be healthy and large then underweight and sickly.

It's a hard struggle but I'm confident it can be done.

Keep it up...

I weighed this morning and am now down to 272. Also this morning I could not find my normal church shirt. I had one I used to wear but stopped when it started getting too small for me. I tried it out and it fit perfectly so I was able to wear it.

I am trying my best to stick to my diet. Last week I did go to a buffet and did not eat nearly as much as I used to. I did though out of habit fill my glass up with Dr. Pepper and it was after I took a drink I realized what I had done. So I wound up drinking the rest of it. Later when I went back to refill my glass I decided to splurge a little bit and drank half a glass of Coca Cola. That was the first time I had drank a coke by my own choice in over a month.

My biking is going good. When I first started there were several hills I would have to walk my bike up. Now when I come to them I am able to ride up them. I am wanting eventually to ride up one of the mountains in the area.

I'm guestimating that I'm down in the 240s. My 44" jeans are a very loose fit now. Shirts that fit really well 10 years ago, are fitting pretty good now. I drink pop (coke, pepsi, whatever) about as much as I drink beer, which is twice a week. I caught a glimps of my self in a window...my beer gut is slowly going away.

Now if I could do something about my man-boobs.

Well I had a small setback. I was biking and my peddle fell off. Once I got that fixed I was biking and went down a hill and discovered I did not have any brakes. Thankfully I did not wreck. The last few days I have been walking, I am hoping to get my bike fixed. I also for a while went back to snacking but Saturday I was at a funeral home and talking to some lady about side effects of prescription drugs and she said one medicine she was on caused her to eat a lot. She said once she went to the kitchen and she opened the refrigerator and then asked why she was doing it, was she hungry. So the last few days when I have gone into the kitchen for a snack as I am looking at the food I ask myself "Am I hungry?" usually it has been no and I get me a drink of water and go back to my room.

By the way I had tapered off on my weight loss due to my relapse but now it seems I am back to losing weight. The other day I went to Wal-Mart and for the first time in several years was able to get a pair of blue jeans off the store shelf as opposed to ordering them.

^ That's a good feeling when you can buy clothes in the regular stores.

I actually never go to the point where I would have to go to big/tall stores, but I got very close.

MY UPDATE:

Well I for one am fatter than ever before. Since December I have had 4 surgeries and have gained about 75 lbs sitting around all the time. I have not worked since November of last year due to breaking my knee cap. I did not do it at work so they held my job as long as they could but finally they filled my position. I am still drawing long term disability that I am so thankful I signed up for and paid each month. The surgeon is not sure when I can go back to work even if I had a job to go back too.

My wife on the other hand started to work out and looks real good. She would go and run all the time and was really getting into shape. Well, I was not the only one who thought she looked good because she came to me and confessed to having a 3 month affair with my best friend (June - August 26th to be exact). I was thrilled as you can imagine. Two months have past since that bomb shell was dropped and I guess I have just really felt like crap and have not been watching my weight with it all going on. Its hard to eat right when you are sitting around and then really pissed off!

I am really needing to get the weight BACK off so I can make a trip to Carowinds this summer for sure. It has been a bad year but God has blessed in so many ways and I know he is in control.
