I celebrated Canada Saturday night when browsing a US Comcast sports station noticing there was Canadian football; Edmonton vs. Winnipeg. I was interested in the differences with the NFL. The new football season is on. Avril and Simple Plan was playing in the background between plays. A Tim Horton banner was on the sideline.

Yay Canada! My dad was born in Quebec, although he was adopted not too long after, and he then came to the US.

On Sunday night I was at the Falls on the American side. I was staying over night in Buffalo. Monday morning I heard about Canada Day on South Ontario morning radio. I generally like Buffalo and Ontario so I do wish the Canadians a good Canada Day.

Looking at the Falls I vow to return to Canada real soon. I need to get my CW on. I was quite tired from my day of crossing NY State and getting my Waldameer and Martin's on.

Even though I live in the deep south of the US, I would also like to wish our friends north of the border a Happy Canada Day.

One of my good friends is from the Toronto area and really the only culture shock/differences between us is the climate; I simply would not survive their weather outside their summer months, and he would have a very hard time dealing with our much warmer temperatures for most of the year.

Other than that, I have a tremendous amount of admiration for Canada and their people.

I love my calendar.

For yesterday it says: Canada Day (Canada)

Where else would Canada Day be celebrated?

Well to celebrate I had Labatt Blue at Hard Rock Niagara Falls USA on Sunday. They didn't have Molson but Labatt earned some better brownie points from me this time over the first time I tried it. I didn't get my Tim Hortons on cause I had to indulge the rare occurrence of running into a Krispy Kreme again, since they closed our 6 Philly area franchises, this one in Erie.

They closed Krispie Kremes? How rude!

I miss our really old one in Charlotte, it bit the dust when Hwy 74 was expanded. We still have 2 of them, but of course they aren't the same as the one built in the 60s I would guess.

Their core market is the South so your area should still be saturated. It was that expansion they had, it was too much for them and they struggled. A vacation to a far away place is a chance for me to find and catch up on Krispy. I did one near Scranton for the wedding I went to and found on in Erie near Waldameer. I missed the one in Rochester when I went to Seabreeze. The one closest to me now is NYC. Starbucks is even closing a quarter of their stores now.

That's about like me and White Castle. There are none in the south that I know of, so whenever I see one I have to stop. Although my last one in St Louis wasn't the best experience (not the restaurant, the well, afterwards...that's all I'll say).

Another Canadian invention is Gridiron Football (Can/US football)

On the other hand...
-Alexander Graham Bell was Scottish, so that nixes the telephone from being Canadian.
-I don't think anyone can really claim the light bulb; there's too many claims, and it depends on what is considered a "light bulb".
-I'm not so sure on the zipper either.

Anyway, happy Canada Day! I've had my red and white on all day.

We have a different accent in South Jersey and Philly. Sounds "aye" to me.
