Christmas 2008

Well, the Radio's started playing Christmas music, so I figured it's about time to make a thread for it.

What are your plans for the holidays?

What are you asking for from Santa???

My dad is moving out to California to be with his wife, so I'll be driving out there with him and spending 2 weeks there. My girlfriend is flying out there about 3 days after we leave, so we should get there the same time.

I'm asking for a new camera this year since the one I bought last year broke and I can't go to California without a camera.

I found a radio station out of St. Louis that plays Christmas music 365 so I've actually been listening to Christmas music for about three weeks now.

This year my family and I will be leaving about 8 a.m. Christmas Day to go to Southern Indiana for lunch with my Dad's side of the family then around 4 p.m. we will leave and go to East Tennessee and stay with my Moms side of the family until January 4th.

This year I really want a camera and I also want Santa to pay for part of my BlackBerry Storm that comes out Friday. Actually I pretty much already know I'm getting the camera but I really hope for some money too

I'd ask Santa for world peace if I believed either of the two existed.

Oh, and I don't celebrate Christmas.

Well I'm asking for 2 new pedals in addition to my new baby that I ordered last month and should be getting next week.

I'd love to get this but it costs a little much for the current time being. Plus I already have a delay and my main tube amp is naturally overdriven.

I believe in Christmas and I'm not ready for the music. The leaves are still on the tree and the turkey is not out yet. Wouldn't this economy in the US help to keep it tucked away til its time?

I would like Philadelphia Flyers lounge pants but I might get that myself.

I'm going to spend time at home during my Winter Break from school, we're spending Christmas Day at my Grandparents.

What do I want from Santa? A new MacBook Pro and Adobe Creative Suite 4, expensive stuff I know, but I need it for school.

Screw Christmas. The day after the freaking election, I saw Christmas commercials. Actually, it should be X-mas, since there seems to be nothing sacred about this supposed holiday anymore. Not even Thanksgiving, and x-mas is being shoved down our throats. I will be sorely disappointed if I get anything this year.

How cheap have you found CS4? If you don't know already, JourneyEd.com has awesome discounts on software if you're a student. CS4 is about 1/3 the listed price. It's still out of my range, but someday...

I have everything taken care of at my school's bookstore. Adobe really gives our school huge discounts, seeing as they are literally down the street...

Can't quote prices so I don't get in trouble.

The rhythm guitarist in my band has the Boss ME-50. I actually sort of hate it, it kind of takes away from the sound. Maybe its just that I'm not a big fan of multi-effect pedals, but I wouldn't personally recommend it.

Well, I'm ready for Christmas!

I'm asking Santa for a Jimmie Johnson race jacket, and a bunch of CDs.

Well that's good for you guys. Our bookstore stinks. Some things are actually more expensive than regular.

I'll be spending Christmas at home in Tampa, and during the week beforehand my Dad and I are going out to SoCal.

As far as what I'm asking from "Santa", it's mainly video games:

PS3:
Resistance 2 (and maybe the original)
Dead Space
Prince of Persia
Eternal Sonata
Little Big Planet (maybe)
Fallout 3 (maybe)
Valkyria Chronicles (maybe)
EDIT: I almost forgot that Bioshock was recently ported to PS3

Wii:
Tales of Symphonia II
Sonic Unleashed

Also, for a while I've been thinking about getting an iPhone, but I'll probably end up buying that myself.

I celebrate Christmas and I still find it sacred. Take out all the Target ads, and everything and you're left with what started it all.

Plans for the holidays? Going home and not worrying about classes.
I'm looking forward to Texas weather getting colder. We finally hit a cold snap down here and it's been a high of 60 something this weekend! I'm also looking forward to putting lights up on my house and Christmas tree.

I'm not asking Santa for anything this year. I've been saving to get a new D-SLR. Mostly it will be a Canon Rebel XSi, but we'll have to see. I've been wanting to get into photography seriously for about a year now, stepping up from my point-and-shoot. I've also been wanting to get a pair of new headphones too, not just ear buds, but actual cover-your-ears headphones. They'll be Christmas gifts to myself, haha.

Now I want hot chocolate...

I could use a new Ipod so i might go buy myself that.

I'll do the 3-4 different family get-togethers. All good times, even though my family is a bit fractured. (that's a nice way of saying they're all insane.)

I'm not asking for much. I'm sure the girls will take good care of me. Steven can attest that I'm failry popular with the short chick demographic in my family.

I'm more tickled about what I'm giving. Last year, my daughter said she wanted to start learning guitar, so we got her a dirt cheap acoustic, thinking it would suffice if all she wanted was a toy, and it was good enough to get her started if she was serious. Well, it turned out she IS serious, so we got her a Purple Strat a few months ago, and started her on lessons. She's mentioned that she wants a better acoustic- well, she's getting a Pink Little Martin for Christmas!

I've gotten something really nice for my wife already, but she reads the forums, so I won't say what here.

All I want for Christmas is a permanent job for my husband. He got laid off in August and is currently in a seasonal position that will end after the first of the year, so the best Christmas gift we could get would be a permanent position either within the same company or ... just, anything, really.

As for what I'm doing for Christmas? Working, except for the day of, which will be spent with my brother and his wife who will be visiting from D.C. and the rest of my local family. And then I get to look forward to my first completely online quarter of college classes starting on the 3rd, I'm excited!

I was reading this part and I was expecting to hear you say: "So we got her Guitar Hero" instead of the actual guitar...

Santa doesn't come to my house anymore... lol

What I usually get is money to buy what I want, and a few odds and ends besides.

If i get what I normally get in cash, I'll be buying:

Guitar Hero - Wii
Sega Tennis - Wii
Mothership - Led Zeppelin

Otherwise, nothing major planned. I can't wait to own Guitar Hero.

Question for the gamers: The Wii wireless guitar I'll get with GH will work with Rock Band Wii, correct?

James R - Wouldn't hot chocolate just be room temperature in Texas?

Wes, yes it should. Our Guitar Hero 3 controller (guitar) works with our Rock Band. Check though first in case.

Get it! That game is a lot of fun. It's simple and you can play with friends. Some of the levels people make are really cool, and some are hilariously bad.

There's big learning curve in creating your own level though, but tutorials help.

I'd love to have Rock Band. Wal-Mart has the entire setup (2 guitars, drums and microphone) plus the game for $120 for PS2. I may see if I can sweet talk my brother into getting it for me. I feel left out of the whole Guitar Hero/Rock Band craze ...

Check Game Stop if they are near you (there's one on every corner here it seems). A lot of times you can find stuff like that used for a lot cheaper, and I think they have a 90 day guarantee or something like that.

I gotta agree with Kyle about Little Big Planet. I didn't think I'd like it, but my friend brought it over and we played for hours.

I bought a new Christmas Tree for this year - it's a gold ornament tree that holds 300 ornaments. It's over 6 ft. tall and rotates on it's stand. I have to figure out a way to put some lights underneath it shining upwards thru the tree to illuminate it. It will be different. We'll put some fresh-cut pine roping on the mantle for that "Christmas smell". Other than that, it's Hungarian Mass at Midnight with my choir, and Christmas Day dinner with the family. I bought a used Skittle Bowl game for a family gift so we'll all have fun playing that game after dinner. (we use to have that game when I was a child but my mom, in her infinite wisdom, got rid of it because she thought we weren't playing wih it anymore, hence having to buy a used one this year...and we ALWAYS played with that game!!!!)

I hope it snows a bit for the season - just to make it look Christmas-y.

I've started an Amazon wish list, mostly to remind myself what I should buy, but I sent it to my mom and brother since my birthday's coming up in a few weeks.

I'll be working on Christmas Day, but my mom and brother are planning to visit me. My mom's a teacher, so she'll have two weeks off, and she wants to spend some time with me. I haven't seen them since July 2007.

Maybe I'll buy a string of lights and hang them in my living room.
