| I'd like to thank President Bush... Rice: People will soon thank Bush for what he's done - CNN.com Condoleezza Rice spoke to CNN about how Bush wasn't so bad after all, and how he probably faced some of the toughest challenges of any president, and made some very positive impacts on a historical scale. I agree with the article, I never saw Bush as being that terrible. I mean, think of the last time America was under attack: Pearl Harbor in 1941. It was an attack on a military base on an island which was at that time only a territory, not a state. The 9/11 attacks were on two civilian buildings which were the tallest skyscrapers of the largest metropolitan city in the country. I'd say that's alot more difficult to deal with. She also said how getting rid of Saddam Hussein makes the entire arab world a much better environment to prosper, I mean, look at the economy of some of the arab nations, Kuwait is getting better, UAE is getting better, Saudi Arabia is getting better, so maybe it wasn't so bad. Anyway, read before you comment... |

The Arab world gets better, while ours goes to crap. Great thing Bush had something to do with that.

Let's see... Our President started a war with no proof, and I suspect only did it for personal reasons myself. He spent money by the billions on a war that no one wants. He acts like a buffoon on the national and international stage and makes Americans look like redneck cowboys who have the IQ of slugs. He has decimated the Republican Party and probably set it back 20 years. Just because we were attacked on 9/11, doesn't give him the right to be an awful president. Yeah, I have a lot to be thankful for.

Yes, some Americans are badly impacted, but it's not the worst thing to happen in this country. I'm not thanking Bush yet, the title was merely to get your attention. And about the war, maybe it'll take ten years or more for it to make sense to some of you. What Rice said, not me, is that Hussein was a huge reason that the Arab world had trouble flourishing. Once he is gone, the other Arab countries can be more peaceful. |

I'd like to thank President Bush for the following reason: 1. Leaving the White House in January. That's it.

^I agree that got a hardy chuckle out of me as well. I'm excited to see what Obama has in store. Sure I didn't vote for him, but that doesn't mean I don't see anything positive about him. In fact, he already seems better now than he did in November. |

I don't think any of the jokes in this thread were clever or original, if they were, I'd be happy to give due credit. Wrong. As much as people like to blame all their problems on Bush, we'd most likely be in the SAME situations no matter who was President. In fact, we might actually be worse off... There's no reason to blast Bush for everything, he was doing his job, and its not an easy one. The short run implications have definitely not worked for his popularity right now, but in the long run, America will be a better country because of Bush. 20 years down the line the country is going to look at Bush favorably because he did what he thought was best for his country, not what was popular. And to me, that signifies a good leader. Much better than some guy who wants to please everyone by making empty promises (Obama). American's like to find people to point fingers at when they have problems instead of taking responsibility for themselves. Evidence? America voted for Bush twice in a row. Maybe you all should point the blame accordingly? |

You do make a good point there....if many people claim Bush was the worst president ever, why was he elected to a second term? He must have been doing something right for him in his first term to stay in the White House after 2004. Maybe his ratings after 9/11 sprung into many people's heads in the 2004 election. I voted for him in 2000, however, I did not vote for him in 2004.

To: President George W. (Dumbass) Bush From: A working American Re: Your last 8 years To outgoing President Bush, You moron. You went after Sadaam because your daddy failed to take him out. You also went after Hussein because you didn't want to take the time to search every nook, cranny and cave that Bin Laden was hiding in. Your buddies in Big Oil cost me money this summer (and dating back to 2005 with the great way the aftermath of Katrina was handled) by curtailing how much I could drive besides to and from work. Yes W, I really enjoyed paying out the ass to fill up my car that already got 30 miles to the gallon. Regarding the economy and our "small" debt...There was a reason why I voted for Al Gore in 2000. Clinton did a wonderful job of actually reducing our national debt. Unfortunately, you have made it so that our children's' children's children's children's children's children's children's children will perhaps one day pay it off. Thanks for nothing!

Bush went into Iraq with no proof and started something he never should have. His intelligence staff has absolutely NONE of what they were given a job for. They jumped the gun and the entire country knows it. People that work in factories, car plants, steel plants now are losing jobs that they have been at for years and years and worked hard for because of a lovely thing our government calls "outsourcing". So now people like the working class have to work in lower paying jobs, live in more cramped quarters, have less of food, electric, heat just because Bush has to spend more money where it isn't needed. Lemme guess...you are one of those people that are all pissed at Obama cause he wants to tax anyone that makes over 250,000 a year? If it's not true, sorry. If it is and you are a Bush supporter, I truely feel sorry for you. People that voted him in for 8 years should have known better and can't whine and complain at the situation this entire country is in. Oooooh I just had a great idea!!!!!!! Why don't instead of spending billions of dollars every month in Iraq and the Middle East, why don't we re-build New Orleans and Texas? Wouldn't that be something? Our OWN PEOPLE having a PLACE TO LIVE???? No WAY!!!!!! Or having a job and not having to depend on the crappy government to get food or shelter or clothing. Who would have thought?

Jerry, I mean, you are 19. So I'm guessing you at the very mature age of 11, took time from outside playing and video game and masturbating to form your own opinion on how our government should work? Or do you just echo what your parents or wikipedia say? Then at the ripe old age of 13, you saw the 9/11 attacks and delved deeper into the political psyche huh. This boatload of sarcasm brought to you by slipknot8527.

The only improvemnent in political perspective that comes with getting older is that you realize that BOTH sides are crooked scum, and that you're screwed no matter who gets elected. That's what age brings. Yay.

Age is an illusion. So basically the point of this thread is to lighten us Americans up, right? I mean at the end of the day I feel aggravated at the way our country does politics, mainly because of bush. I'd like to say the same about bush as condi rice does; however, I can't because I'm not making millions off oil and the war like she is. Bush did a horrible job as our president. Period. I admire CNN's effort to pull our heads out of the gloomy depressing hole that bush has dug, though!

Be careful what you wish for. The people of Iran wished for the same thing and ended up with a worse form of government than they had before. Persepolis was a good movie, well kinda depressing but I enjoyed it last night none the less. Frankly if it was up to me (and I know it isn't) I'd throw everyone in Congress OUT. Start fresh, with some fresh ideas and with people that aren't already bought and sold by special interests.

(I won't elaborate on those last two words) And anyways, you can't just pull out of Iraq fully, even if Iraq CAN handle it. Do you think the US doesn't have troops in other countries at all? We STILL have troops in Germany, Japan, and a HUGE number of other countries. The presence in those countries is passive and protective, and what you have to realize is that was Bush's goal. 2 years ago, all you heard about on the news was the war, stories of car bombs, violence, and all that junk. But now, thanks to the surge which Obama REFUSES to admit that worked, troop casualty levels are LOWER than that of Afghanistan. Yes, you can pull out some troops, but you in no way can pull out all troops. And anyone who says the auto bailout isn't worth it, say that to the 3/4 of people I know whose parents will LOSE their job if the Big 3 go bankrupt. Detroit already suffered because of Kwame Kilpatrick and the Lions, don't say the Big 3 don't need a bailout, because it will KILL Detroit. And fixing us entirely over any Mideast Crisis that may arise will only make us look more arrogant and selfish to the world that already hates us.

At the least Iraq should be paying us back now for the war, or at least paying the monthly expenses now considering they made Billions last year.

I'm not saying we need a new form of government, I'm saying that we need to make it harder for congressmen to be bought and sold so easily. The problem is- the people who need to make this law are the people who would suffer financially from it. We also need a LOT more choices than Democrats and Republicans, since they're pretty much the same anymore anyway. On second thought, we DO ned a new form of government. We need a dictatorship, with me as dictator. Common sense government. The first thing I'll do is solve Social Security, and it will take me all of five minutes:Dear Congress, Your wonderful retirement program is now gone. From this day forward, you're going to rely on Social Security, just like everyone you claim to represent. You might want to think about fixing it.
