OMG. I got the August issue of PC Gamer today. Inside on pg. 50 is an ad for a new coaster game. It shows a bunch of loops with a guy screaming and the text: "If you're not twisted before you build it, you will be after you ride it".

At the bottom is the logo "Ultimate Ride". On the other side of the logo is another that says "Imagineering".

I checked the back where they list advertisers. Disney Interactive is listed as the company.

The ad also had an address: www.ultimateridegame.com. There is nothing at the site yet but this:

Quote:

ULTIMATE RIDE
Coming September 2001

Seat belts required

This is huge! Disney is making a coaster game!!!! There are no screenshots so I have no idea what it is like.

If you have the AUGUST issue of PC Gamer, goto page 50-51 to see the ad. If you dont have it, GET IT!

I will scan the pages later!!

Found this link: At Gamespot

Includes one pic and a discription of what the game will be like.

Nothing like what we were hoping for. All you can do is design coasters like in UC3D. Only difference is that you can theme them.

_________________
Measure out 310 ft. on the ground and run (or walk) the distance. Now, go and ride Millennium Force. Does it seem like the same distance to you?

[ This Message was edited by: Rider on 2001-06-26 21:27 ]

[ This Message was edited by: Rider on 2001-06-26 21:28 ] |

Disney already made a coaster game in 1993. It was called Coaster, I have it. Its crap. You cant do anything and it has unrealistic heights and speed. Its difficut to use and it looks like a blueprint. I sent them a letter asking them to doi Coaster2, but they said they have no plans for another coaster game. Later everything i saked to be in Coaster2 came out in RCT.

Their site is pretty nice. I went there last week and it was a simple 'black background/white text "Coming Soon From Disney Interactive"' page... lets hope they keep it up to date unlike other certain Coaster Game sites *cough*RCT*cough*UltraCoater*cough*

Guys if you look at the screenshots it looks like the old Disneys Coaster with better graphics. If you look at the screenshots the corkscrews seems to be made from premade peices (in the same size/proportion of the old coaster!) and it seems as though diagnols are STILL not possible. Looks like another letdown fellas.

I actually think the game has strong potential. Theres a couple ups and downs about it:

Pluses:
-Smooth Corkscrews/other elements!!!
-Scenery
-Powered Launch (of sorts)

Minuses:
-Other styles of coasters??? Colors???
-The G-force measurer looks wrong

This is just my opinion, but just hear me out Tyler. Right when you turn on the game, and run through the coasters, you immediately realize the the tracks are horrible, and they don't really make the game look that great. However, looking at the track, you can tell that it is not made of premade pieces, the tracks look very customized. This means that the editor will probably be something along the lines of UltraCoaster. Now, Tyler, think back to when the first UltraCoaster demo came out... I don't know about you, but my reactions were similiar to what I thought of this game. The tracks that came in the UC demo were horrific... worse than these, yet look at how good UC is! I'm not saying you're wrong, I mean, it could suck, however I think you should give it a chance... it really reminds me of an updated version of UC. Tell me what you think. |

Welll based on the screen shots it looks as though it is from pre-made peices i mean one screenshot has like 15 corkscrews lined up next to eachother, all of which are exactly the same. Also the Corks look just like they did in the old disneys coaster. And if you look carefully at all the screenshots every turn I saw was a 90 degree turn. So you might be right but then again it might be like Old Disneys Coaster with better graphics.

Notice that the chain lift sound on the first coaster is the same as the sound in RCT?

I was watching TechTV and on mini-program about animation it showed video of some SIZING a corckscrew. Demos are not reliable enough to judge a game. Wait untill it comes out and then say it sucks (j/k).

I DL'd the demo and all three gauges are WAY off. A small drop was making the thing go like 111 MPH. It said it was hitting 9 G's. Perhaps this game should be called "Fantasyland"?

Personally, I want them to make a game called, "Magic Kingdom Manager". In this game you could run the Magic Kingdom and decide how many more McDonald's you want in the park and how much you can charge for Ponchos. They could even have a Paul Pressler mode where you stop building any new attractions for like 7 years and put parades in the park instead.

Sorry, I went off on a tangent...

I have the original Coaster from disney and it sucked horribly. But then again, that was from '93! We've come along way since then so the new disney game should be good. Although disney isn't known for good coaster games.

The screenshots on the web site looks like your coaster is made from a bunch of pre-built sections. In other words, I'm not interested.

I downloaded the demo. I didn't work for me. Oh well I hate un-realistic games anyway. Hints why I don't like Sim Coaster or Sim Theme Park.
