New Park - Kingdoms of the Mind

Well, due to some flaws in design to areas of Wild's edge, and the fact I had 0 custom scenery items when I started that one, I've now begun construction on a new park with a pile of themes in it. I truly hope I can pull it off. For this first screen, I have a picture of the entry plaza. A few things have changed since this initial picture, but you should have a good idea of what I'm doing.

And here is a picture of the first semi-completed section - Smurf village. Smurf village is currently a small area, containing Smurfette's Kitchen restaurant and a Wild mouse coaster named Smurfy Mice. I'd tell you what the themes are gonna be, but where's the fun in that?

Well, the second shot's buildings are supposed to resemble mushrooms. I'm really trying to vary my buildings alot. This is my second go at it on this bench that I made. The first one had a huge blocky building right inside the entrance that held a theatre. I decide against that and went with what you see there. This park is set up so when you open it, all you have is basically what you see in that first screenshot. It's only 110X110 so I hopeful that I can fill it up before I get mad and delete it. Anyways, as always, I appreciate your comments.

Well, i guess the "mushroom" look is there, sort of. Add eves and make the roof flatter. It would really help the effect. The enterence looks pretty good except it think adding some belconies on the center building that are even with the roofs on the other two would help.... Do you understand what I'm saying?

That entrance building is amazing, I need to practice making buildings that well. As for the second screen, if you're going for a mushroom theme, you pulled it off well, although I'd change the roofing to something other then orange, red, perhaps.

It all looks very nice, but I would have to suggest putting balconies or something on the large entrance building. It looks very nice as it is, but details can help make it look even better. Great job so far though, and keep it up.

Balconies would really help the entrance, but it looks great now anyway.

Well, I've got 2 more screens. The first is the new entrance, with some balconies.

And here's the second one. If you haven't realized by now, the whole Kingdom's of the Minds thing is just a lousy name I came up with for my park which is basically gonna be an excuse to use alot of this custom theming I've found. The next area (after the smurfs) is based on the Mario games. So far what I've got is a big island with a volcano (seems like a popular idea these days) and a corkscrew coaster called "Escape from Bowser's Dungeon" and a scrambler called "Bowser Revolution" (from the mario party games). Sorry about the quality. If I zoomed in more, I lost the feel of the area, and if I stayed zoomed out, the quality went to crap turning it into a jpg. Anyways, enjoy and look for more in the coming days.

The entrance is better but it's too tall. Try not to make everything so blocky. Use wider paths also. Skinny paths look really odd. You have the overall look down, you just need to work on the above. And put some buildings in!

Hey, Mario! Good thing someone here can do a Mario themed something in RCT2.
The entrance building looks great I can't tell you anything to change. The mario section looks a lot better than what I had planned for bowser's castle. Great work.

The more I look at the screen with the Mario stuff the more I realize you can't see a damn thing. So anyways, I decided to post the bmp of it in case someone wants to see it better or maybe even convert it to a better jpg. Anyways, here's the shot. Don't expect much more over the next week unless the fiance is working nights and I can get some time. Enjoy.

Drewbie,

it's looking very interesting. One thing I would say is be careful with some of those black roofed buildings in that last bmp. Particularly the one near the twister as it will end up looking like a black box.

Show us some more!

Well, though I've done alot of work on this park since the last update, most of it is landscaping stuff for future attractions. I do have this screen to show. The top building is a 2 story food court. The greenish building houses the cue for the tilt-a-whirl (thanks amazing Earl), and the purplish buidling holds some shops. Nothing too fantastic. I know some of you will say that I'm very boxxy with my architecture, but I try to stay as realistic as I can. Let's hear some thoughts.

Oh and I'm working on this all weekend so hopefully I'll have a bunch of screens by monday.

Looks nice Drewbe. The boxy-ness is off set by the good use of custom Roof, belconys and of course porches (not Porsches for those of you who mis-read things)...

But may i suggest the addition of more Archy, gardens, trees or SOMETHING Along the paths. I guess that's all since everything elce looks mighty fine.

a tip: BEFORE making the picture smaller, save it as a JPEG and then make it smaller. the quality wont be lost that way.

Well, I have some terribly unfortunate news for anybody that was looking forward to this park. I downloaded some more custom scenery the other day to get a break from building this park. Well, it asked if I wanted to keep or replace the duplicates in some of the sets I got. Well since I couldn't see the screen, all I could do was hit return to get past it. Well, somehow, now my park has an error and I can't open it anymore. I'm very upset at this development since I had more time into this park than I had ever had into any other park.

In conclusion, Kingdom's of the Mind is now a figment of my mind and will never be completed. Look forward to a new, smaller park I've been working on since then. I've taken what I've learned and moved forward I think. Anyways, look for that thread and the announcement soon. It will be called - (Da Da Da Daaaaa)
