| Roman Ruins
So, I skipped over the C park for now (although it is started) and went to work on my R park...Roman Ruins. I just started the park today and got the first coaster and some buildings done. Anyways, on to the story... November 2004 - East of Toronto. Today, the ground breaking ceremony of the new educational theme park took place in a small town just a few hours East of Toronto. The park, known as Roman Ruins, will both educate and thrill it's guests. Dont let the word educate scare you away though, this park offers the best in thrills. Already announced is the park's signature ride, a brand new custom B&M Floorless rollercoaster. Gladiator will take it's riders through 5 high speed inversions before dropping them 90* into the centre of a colesseum and into two more heart pounding loops. The park also plans on building another high thrill ride, but hasnt decided what type it will be as of yet. And for the familys, the park also announced plans on building many family oriented rides. More news as it is announced. Screens: 1) Gladiator's second drop, which takes riders through a colesseum and into an underground tunnel. 2) Gladiator's station (which will most likely be changed to fit surrounding architecture) and part of the entrance plaza. Far left is the on-ride photo booth, blue roofed building is The Colesseum Souvenir shop, and purple roofed is Park Info. Comments?

This looks good. When do you think it will be ready for download?

Looks pretty good. Though some more themeing would help.

/\ I agree. Maybe some more trees. I like the foothpaths though. Some of your buildins are pretty cool looking. But try and make buildings that Romans would build, like collums and triangle rooves.

Oh ok. Sorry, I didn't know that. Your park is good, just add trees. Don't spread things out too much also.

I'm assuming this is for TNPP? If it is, your in the driver's seat for this month as no one else seems to be making a park.

What if that turns out to be. Will he automatically win? What will happen?

This looks very good for such an early park. In the second shot, though, I would change the bright blue roof on the building to the left to a more subtle shade. And if this is the only entry, I see no other way then to have this park automatically win; we can't just throw out the November competition. So if this is the only entry, WildeFyre automatically is entered in the Winner's Circle and has a 1/3 chance at winning the $50 gift certificate to Amazon.com. By the way, remember that the deadline is the 23rd, though it can be pushed back if necessary.

Well, I am trying for the TNPP, but the 23rd deadline is a little tough for me. I'm doing my best to work on it after school while doing homework but it isnt easy with all my extra stuff. I'm practicing for an extremely hard math competition right now, and thats a just a wee bit higher on the priority scale...so if the deadline was pushed back a little bit I might have a chance at finishing it. Anyway, thanks for the comments so far and I'll post more screens soon.

Oh, I see your problem. Yeah, definatly study for the math competition instead of doing this park because that is more important right now. How big is the park?

I think the park is either 60x60 or 65x65...I forget. Anyway, I got a bit of work done on it today. Roman Ruins Update: Construction on the park's next thrill ride is complete. Water Chariots (name pending) is the park's brand new racing water slide. Rider's will experience tons of drops, twists, and plunges into complete darkness as the two water person boats race towards the finish line. A picture is included. I'll try to put up another screen when I get back from the dentist, but chances are I'm going to change part of the water slide and have a small portion of it themed to an old aquaduct. The name is also bound to change.

Woah, I've never seen racing water slides. They look pretty cool, and thrilling!! Just make sure they don't crash off the trough (which mine always do and blow up!) ![]() I love the station for the waterslides too. It looks like something I would build.

It's a nice idea, I like it, especially the way they both dive through the bottom of the station. I'm curious to see this thing when it's all themed.

Well, the deadline shift gives me a bit more time to work on it, hopefully I'll be able to get more done this weekend. Anyways, change of plans with the racing water slides, they've been moved to the back of the park and had a bit of a layout change to accomodate part of the scenery. News Update: Roman Ruins has announced the new Rivers of Atlantis water play area. This new area will feature, the racing water slide adventure, Atlantis Racers. Riders race through dark twists, turns, and drops and finish with a final stretch down an aquaduct. More details as they are announced. I'll release a picture tomorrow, as for now, I sleep.

Moved them? Ok. The name sound better and the ending sounds really cool! I can't wait to see pictures of the end!

You need more theming abd buildings. Otherwise, your on the money.

Yeah I definetly agree you need to add a lot of theming to this park...Especially if you want to pinpoint this park to be strictly roman, which of course that is probably your objective. Got any plans on the next coasters your putting in?

Well, I was just going to add this picture to my last post, but seeing as I already have three replies I'll just add it here and answer these posts/comments. Quote:

Anyways, here's the new picture of Atlantis Racers. This picture shows the entrance to the ride, the un-named shop out front, and the aquaduct finale to the ride. Also, like stated, I did move the ride to the back of the park. I wasn't totally pleased with it's original location and I wasnt really able to change the layout to add the new theming to it at it's old location. And, yes, I know it needs more theming.

I like the aquaduct a lot, firstly. However, the white walls somehow look a little...too bright. You may just want to paint them them beige and see how they look. If you leave it white, though, I'm sure it'll look better with trees and other scenery added.

Haha that's a cool ending! I like it. Like Aaron said it will look better once some trees are around everything. I do suggest putting in a little more fences around the footpaths. Other than that, it looks fine.

Well, I was able to get a bit of work done on it today and I can probably get alot more done tomorrow. However, I change my mind alot, and that Rivers of Atlantis Water area isnt turning out the way I planned so I scrapped it, but the racign slides are still there. You may ask why I decided not to go with the idea, well it's simple...there just wasnt alot of room in the area of the park I wanted to put it in, so I'm just going to add one or two small rides in the area. So, besides that news, I've added a small wooden coaster and a few rides to the midway. I do have two screens to show you, but it's nothing really new...just more themeing I've added. All the rides are pretty much installed now, just a few more to put in, then I'll finish the theming and add in the trees. The first screen shows the part of the park's aquaduct system and the entrance to Race for Atlantis. The second screen is of Gladiator's new station and plaza area.

| First Screen: The buildings look nice! The only thing that I really don't like it the aquaduct because they have a couple of storys of water, not just one. But it looks ok. Nothing too major and I doubt you have the time to change it. Second Screen: I like all of the different colors of the buildings. The only thing that I don't like are the arches in the coaster station. Looks kinda weird. Just make it a flat side wall and add some windows or something.

Looks great. Just add some trees, maybe a few flower gardens, and you'll be all set. I really like all the different roofs in the second picture, particuarly Gladiator's. The new entrance to Race for Atlantis is very good as well, I'm looking forward to seeing this park finished.

Looks good, though I agree with Aaron that you should add some trees. They really can add a lot to your park. Everything looks great though.

Nov 21, 04. Roman Ruins Theme Park. Our latest sources claim that all the rides are in place and the paths around the park have been completed. A new family resturant was also seen being built; from the looks of it, it has a hill top patio and served pizza and chicken. Last we heard there were truck loads of trees, flowers, and roman themed items seen heading to the new park. More news and pictures as we find out more. Update: Roman Ruins is now pretty much complete. All trees, flowers, and theme items have been added into the park. I'm going to open it again tomorrow, make some last minute touches and it will be released. Look for a formal announcement tomorrow...or later tonight, depending on how bored I get... Anyway, here's one of the last screens I will post in this thread. Enjoy.

It's a pretty decent park, although I think it could be better if you worked on it some more. You did a good job with the park though, I commend you for that. |

Looks like a fantastic park, I can't wait to check it out! Keep up the good work. And may I suggest different ground types for varied Roman environments?
