Worlds of Fun recreation for RCT2

Before I begin, READ THROUGH ALL OF THIS.

As it says in the title, I'm currently taking a break from Six Flags South Dakota to work on a recreation of Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, MO. Don't expect this until April, because I need to ride and see Patriot in person before I can put it into the game.

At the moment, I would say I'm about 20 - 30% finished. I have the main entrance, some of the Spinning Dragons midway, most of Scandinavia, Zulu's area, most of Boomerang's area, and some of Fury of the Nile and Monsoon finished now. Soon I will add trees and go back to SFSD if there is time before April 8.

Yes, there are peeps in the park. Don't have a heart attack.

Also, I know what you will all say when you see these screens. "Those buildings are too blocky. Fix them." I am here to let you know that I will not respond to these comments and that nothing will change. If you think my buildings are blocky, don't just tell me to fix them, tell me HOW to fix them. Again, if you don't tell me how to fix this, your comment will be ignored.

Screens (more will come later today or tomorrow afternoon):

Main Entrance area (more complete now)

Spinning Dragons

Zulu area

Overview so far

Comments immensly appreciated. Thanks.

Thumbs up

your buildings are to blocky...

haha jk, well they are, but heres what you can DO about it. I think one easy thing you can do is take the buildings that have flat roofs and just replace them with angle ones, but dont just put the roof pieces on in a normal sloping manner, make them random and wierd, even add small wall pieces to make little raised parts, that should spice the building up alot.

o and im JC but why didnt you use a spinning wild mouse coaster for spinning dragons? everything else looks good so far though

alright...

the first and probably one of the most important thing of buildings is layering. for each side of a land tile you can put two walls, putting two of them together to create a more detailed wall is layering. i strongly suggest you read this - http://sirspinster.tripod.com/parkmakersguide/7.html and this - http://sirspinster.tripod.com/parkmakersguide/6.html and this - http://forums.rct2.com/index.php?showtopic=14886

those three sites will help you with buildings but theres lots of other stuff that can make your park look better. imagine walking through the park you made, would it look like a normal amusement park? in the first screen, you have buildings with bare walls right up against the path. i've never been to worlds of fun but i doubt that the buildings are really like that. most buildings have big glass windows or some kind of stylized walls next to the path if any at all. then theres the buildings that arent even up against the path but separated by grass or bushes. another good thing is to put a wall on the inside of the buildings where the path goes in and change the land to dirt underneath the paths.

the best way to learn to get better is to visualize it and the best way to do that is it download other parks. you're going for realism so i highly suggest you download my latest park - http://www.thrillnetwork.com/speedzo....php?file=1724

BGWfanatic, you can't make a coaster like Spinning Dragons with Spinning Wild Mouse cars. You can't have the track turn or bank going down.

Thank you both for the advice, it will all help immensely.

Tell me if this is better. Note that it is just a sample and will not be used anywhere in the park.

Sorry for the double post...

I'm a bit angry at my computer at the moment as it erased about an hour of work. Fortunately, I took one screen that I can show you here. This is what I need to redo, along with Monsoon's area.
This one screen is of a nearly complete and rather good-looking Fury of the Nile.

Update time.
PROGRESS
Today I made up for what I lost by re-completing Monsoon's and Fury of the Nile's areas. I believe I've made big improvements on both.
PROBLEMS
There is a huge elevated plot of land on the outskirts of the park for no reason. There is a screen of this.
SCREENS

New Monsoon area

Odd Land sticking up for no reason NOTE: If you know what this is or how to get rid of it PLEASE tell me.

New Fury of the Nile area. An improvement as far as I'm concerned.

Overview of today's progress

^ i think he said he would earlier on.. something about not finishing it until march or april b/c he wanted to ride patriot before making.. i think i remember that

anyways - you can get rid of that land, by using hte land tool, selecting more then 1 block, and then start pulling it down

the rapids ride looks awesome - as does the station for the falls ride... but the drop is kind of strange

looking good thus far

1.) I already said that Patriot will be included, but not until April as I need to see the area for myself.
2.) I know about the land tool, obviously. Of course I've tried that already and of course it didn't work.
3.) Monsoon's drop is accurate. It bumps once on the way down giving some frightening air.

That has happend to me before (the elevated Land). First go to the top of the land (Just have it in sight). Then you should take he landscaping tool at any size and press alt+tab. Open 8cars, (if you do not have it get it quick!) then go to the landscape option and select ANY size. Go back in th game and just lower the piece of land!

At least that worked for me...

Oh yeah, and the Patriot file doesn't work for me. It says missing data file...

Actually, I've been working really hard on it over the last few days, and I'm about 88% done. I'm in the midst of adding trees. After that, it's one final check before I refill the park with guests, clean the paths, fix the vandalism, and, finally, release it to you guys.

Sorry I don't have any screens, but here's a summary of what I've done.
-destroyed Boomerang, Monsoon, and Fury of the Nile - they were way too close to Patriot and RipCord.
-built Orient Express (I know it sounds odd, but I wanted the area to look accurate - like a coaster could actually fit in the area)
-rebuilt Boomerang, Monsoon, and Fury way further out (it was just enough room, but now I have a really akward, long walkway between Zulu and Boomerang) - at this point, my plans to build OoF were quashed since Monsoon went right up to the border.
-built Timber Wolf, Thunderhawk, Cyclone Sam's, Detonator, Camp Snoopy
-built Heart of America Theater
-built Mamba, Oceans of Fun enterance, WoF Village enterance
-built Europa
-destroyed Orient Express ('twas a sad day - I'll have screens of deconstruction later)
-closed park, got rid of guests
-rebuilt part of Patriot, so guests would actually ride it
-built shops, arcades, and retauraunts
-placed benches and trash cans
-placed fences (around the perimeter of the park, around major rides, and next to paths)
-began adding trees

And that's where I am now. The trees will probably take several days. It's a slow process.

I built a really accurate Talon, and it wasn't too intense for guests. Since Patriot and Talon are the same design with different angled turns, I can send you my Talon to base it off of if you'd like.

Unfortunately, the Patriot in this park isn't up to the Patriot recreation I released a while back, but it works with the park.
I am intensley proud of Boomerang. Even for a Boomerang it looks great.
Again, the only problem is that odd stretch of path between Zulu and Boomer.
I *might* be able to get screens up tonight.
But there's a very good chance that I'll die on one of those carnival rides if I end up at the State Fair tonight, too.

Well, I survived the State Fair (I got to ride FIVE WHOLE RIDES!!!!).
Here are the screens I promised.

New Viking Voyager station, queuing area

A final look at Orient Express before deconstruction

All that's left is the famed Kamikaze Kurve, which soon will be taken out as well.

This picture is for all you cruel, heartless Lore of the Vampire fanboys.

A look at the park, before trees.
