| Does anyone still play RCT 1, 2 or 3?
Lately I've started playing 2 a lot again and trying to work my way through the scnenarios. I didn't like 3 at all and sold it soon after purchase. Does anyone know if there is a bonus scenario in RCT2 like 1 (if you finish all the scenarios)?

What is wrong with RCT 3? I just purchased a super-fast Macbook Pro and was thinking about buying RCT 3, but I've heard nothing but bad things about it. And no, I don't play RCT 2 at all anymore. Simply because I don't have time. I won't have time for RCT 3 either.

I love playing RCT3. I know there have been some complaints about it, but I mostly only create coasters on it. I don't usually make a park. I've started some parks, but for the most park I like it.

stevetothekizzo, OS X's version is much more stable, I suggest that if you can put up with it's price go for it. RCT3's good if you use CS.

^ I second the CS. RCT3 came with horrible in game goodies and over-used collision detection. CS has made RCT3 a decent game. I sometimes play RCT2, mainly just to look at uploaded parks.

I have a huge kickin' Mac and hate playing RCT 3 on it. The controls in the game are klunky and not intuitive like in 1 and 2. It also looks and feels very cartoony. I played the game a few times but can't get into it like I did the others. I still play 2 whenever I'm home from school (I only have a lap top PC with me at school and RCT 2 plays really bad on it). I mostly just build super parks in "build your own Six Flags" scenario...

RCT3 never interested me. It looked to phony. I do dig out the RCT2 disc on occasion and build a few coasters or finish some scenarios. I haven't built anything worth uploading lately though.

I still use RCT2. I just got NL, so I'm still learning it. I don't use RCT3 much. I use RCT2 for almost everything.

I use RCT3 a lot. I can't use RCT2 because it wouldn't install with vista. =( Has anyone got it to work with Windows Vista? |

RCT2 worked for me and I have windows vista. Maybe you should check your software drivers?

I'm still a RCT2 fan. I play it every now and then. (Wouldn't it be great if we could get some new rides for it?) Never cared for RCT3...thought it was too much like SimCoaster. I actually preferred the more realistic looking 2D graphics of the first two games. Last edited by Dukeis#1; 09-25-2007 at 08:43 PM. |

My RCT3 is on our laptop which is full, so I don't play it often. I usually play RCT2. The thing is I have a huge amount of custom flat rides, paths, and especially scenery. I hardly use the default theming RCT2 comes with. Some people make some amazing parks with RCT2. newelement.com or rollercoasterpro.com have good RCT 2 sections. RCPro also has a good RCT3 section.

I always loved the first two RCT games. They were fairly simple and easy to get in to and most important, they were fun. RCT 3 looked very nice and I did like the new and updated rides. The problem I had with it was that it was more difficult to build coasters and other aspects of it. I also didn't have a computer capable of playing it to the best of it's ability. I wish that RCT 2 had the newer rides and other attractions. There are still some things I wish that any of the RCT games did like food stalls that sold more than just the one particular food item. I mostly now play it every time I come back from an amusement park trip and thinking about my own coasters I'd build. So I blow the dust off and pop in the disk and give it a play. I'll usually play again for a week or two. Lately I've actually been playing it fairly often including a few times this week.

From what I was told by a friend, RCT3 ran like crap no matter how fast your computer. He's got one of the fastest computers I've seen and yet it ran slow on his too.

I just moved RCT2 onto this new computer. Every once in a blue moon when I play I only play in the sandbox mode. I'm always too extreme as I try to push realistic as well.

My main wish over any other though about RCT would be for them to make one on a console. I've never been a computer game fan and I don't even like being on the computer that much either. For me, playing a game on a console is much more enjoyable. You don't have to worry if your system is advanced enough to play game. If a game comes out on a console and you have that console, you can play the game, no questions asked. I prefer a controller rather than a mouse in many instances. Only the first RCT game did come to a console and that was just on the original Xbox. I doubt it sold well and why would it? It came out after the second RCT game was released for computers. I just have to imagine that since the RCT series is one of the most popular in computer gaming and also there have been quite a few successful other coaster themed games including some on consoles, that an RCT game would also sell as well.

Because of this thread I dug up my RCT 2 disk and am going to install it on my laptop so I can play it between classes or whenever I get bored. Not sure if I'm going to go back to actual park building, but I might just go on and try to beat the scenarios. I do have RCT 3 and Soaked but I barely ever play them. The only reason I got them was because I found them both on sale in stores and wanted to re-create one of my parks from RCT 2 into 3D. Plus, I've always wanted a water-park tycoon and this was the closest thing I could find.

I still play rct3, It's nice if your building coasters and stuff, but try and build a park and the stupid thing goes so slows or skips. If it wouldn't skip and stuff when you build a park i'm sure alot more people will play it.

I just wish they sold RCT2 on mac. Then I'd be set. I wonder if they'd ever consider making another addition to the series and go back to the set up like RCT1-2...

I still play number 3 sometimes. I always seem to not be satisfied with the coasters I make though, and once I get one that I do like I have no motivation to theme them...I have made some good stuff, I just don't post it - if I do it is usually over at the atari community forums. I could start posting stuff on here though... RCT3 is SO MUCH BETTER when you get both expansion packs. It opens up so many other opportunities, and in Wild! with the extended coaster you can do zero-g rolls, both mild sloped and steep sloped, Immelmans / Dive Loops, Slanted loops, diagonal corckscrews and loops, and basically everything else I asked for in a B&M coaster throught the whole RCT series. There are many other possibilities that come into play, and after getting used to RCT3 I can't go back to RCT2 with the unrealistic speed of coasters and limited possibilities - plus you can't ride the rides and view the insides of structures you create.

I started scenarios in RCT2 today between classes. I skipped over beginner since I've beat them all before, and they're all just kind of "blah" I started with Bumbly Bazzar today, and my park isn't looking too bad. Maybe we can start a thread where we can share scenario tips and screenshots. There's a Locomotion board that does that with those saved games, and looking at other peoples gives me a lot of ideas. Although, once I finish this scenario I might try to change one or two my RCT2 mini parks into RCT 3 parks.

^I think begginer2 means that on the few occasions when he plays rct2, he plays a lot of it. I have enjoyed all 3 of the rct games. Number 2 was really glitchy and crashed on me a lot, though. I have a great computer that runs rct3 just fine on the highest levels of graphics. The only time I have ever had it slow down was when I made a park that covered the entire sandbox map and had a lot of walkways with lights on them. At night, the game would slow down rediculously. Other than that, I thought it was great. I loved the waterparks and the zoos, the selection of rides was amazing, the fact that people actually came in groups and had adults, teens, and kids was an excellent addition, and the extended coaster that came with wild was a gift from above. I have built some very cool coasters with rct3. Check them out: http://youtube.com/profile_videos?p=...zorwind&page=2 Oddly enough, I had a dream about rct4 coming out last night. I dreamt that my parents got it as a present for me, and they didn't want me to find out, but I have always been so observent that I noticed it anyways(it was in a really obvious place). Wierd. As far as an rct game on a console goes, thrillville looks almost exactly like RCT3, and in the commercials they were showing a ride being built, and the ride used the same style construction as rct3(with the blue or red image of the piece to show if it could be built or not).

I figured that's what he meant but the phrasing of it just struck me as funny so I just thought I'd poke some fun at it. And what you were saying about RCT 3 is what bugged me about it. It might work under most circumstances but then like you said, if you used more of the playing field or lighting, etc, it got realy slow. If the game can't handle that or the computer anyway, why make the game that advanced? A lot of people either don't want to or just can't afford an extremely advanced coaster and wouldn't be able to play it. And that's not even the biggest issue, I think it's pathetic that someone who has bought a high end computer still can't play the game without it experiencing some bugs, slowdonw or other technical issues. I'd rather the game just be fun and playable. I'm hoping that Thrillville can be that game. Although I'm worried that it doesn't have enough of the micromanagement features of the RCT games. I made a thread about Thrillville in the media section.

You probably don't want to get thrillville. From what I have seen it isn't nearly as good as RCT3, in fact I think most of the lift hills were steep sloped or something, it just looked weird and not too promising...kind of like Sim Theme Park / Theme Park World. My computer doesn't run RCT3 too well, it gets kind of slow and scenarios take a while to load. The graphics on my computer aren't that great, but does anyone know how to change that - or if you can without a new graphics card? I still love to play it though, if you don't have Wild! its not going to be nearly as good because it doesn't have the extended coaster or a lot of other rides.

I'm not an RCT3 fan. But I do on occasion play RCT-LL or RCT 2. Just the other day I realized on huge missing piece in RCT 2.... there's not games for people to play and win prizes at. That would be huge to making money in some scenarios. I know people have designed new flat rides... What about designing new "stalls" to have games? |

Does anyone know where RCT3 saves game files? I've looked around and can't find them. We're picking up my new computer this weekend, and I would really hate to lose all the parks I've worked on.

Yeah, go to my documents, then there should be a file called RCT3... Every file you could ever want should be in there
