I have manually imported a few coasters from RCT to NoLimits... My techniques may be obsolete but they will never be as smooth as my manual transitions...

When it is released I could post a difference between the auto and manual conversions... (And the speed and height difference!)

TOO BAD I DON'T HAVE 3D STUDIO MAX... Otherwise I could at least theme something for my nice giga SLC...

I know the guy who made the RCT -> NL conversion for Ole, and I got him to do a conversion for me. Man, you can tell the physics between the two games are different. I guarantee that 85% or something of your coasters won't even finish the circuit in NL. I had to lower every single hill after the lift, and it's still incredibly slow. Oh well. Still a lot easier than manual, that's a real pain, I've done it before too. At least now you have a sort of backbone to work form.

Ask that guy to use 1 vertical tile -> 6' so trains should get close to the speed they should be and be able to complete the circuit...

The RCT height display is wrong!

That's how I do to manually make my own conversions...

Those do look pretty wicked awesome. I hope other things are put in, too. Be careful, though. I can see those being placed all over and I'd have to say "welcome to frame rate hell."

Try this..... www.anim8or.com - it exports as .3ds . It's not studio max but it's free and you might find it useful.

Too bad this update won't have those oooooh soooo needed flyer trains. Oh well. The 3d importer sounds cool though. I am hoping that there will be a lot of prefabs for 'em though.

The new thing is coming out on the 28th of april. They are moving along fast on the exspansions. I wish they would have had the flyer trains in this one but o well. I'm looking forward to the rct converter and 3d objects. Also, on the sight updates, the new wood track will be in the third expansion.

It's out now and it's pretty cool. Don't look too much forward to the rct import because the physics are completely different, coasters are very rough, and not all of them can get through the circuit. Have fun with the new version.

I got the 1.2b its pretty good. The environments are sweet! The RCT converter is pretty dumb because all the transitions and stuff are different so they turn out pretty rough. I found a bug in the SELECT ALL feature, it messes up the supports as you gradually drag the coaster, FYI, I emailed Ole about it though.

Taintedhand,

How did you make the new environments? I would love to have more environments! I like the fog one...it makes the coasters feel haunted with the possibility of encountering the undead coming up from the ground...

find the enviromnets folder, open the *.env files with notepad, then edit some of the values, read each line of code and chnage or add or swap, save the file as untitled, test it, then go back and rename it. really easy and no compputer programming needed, though it helps. i havebeen programming for some time now and created quite a few "positive" and "negative" programs. i also edited nolimits, before the updates came out, to supports woodies but they are crude and use metal supports.

Question:

What's the deal with the new view? It's fly-by view or something. It's not really any different than the on-board view. The only thing I noticed was I could look in 360 degrees any direction. What's so cool about that?

EDIT: Ooooh. I figured it out now. If any of you are having the same problem, use the arrows and the mouse buttons. It points the camera at a fixed position on the train and then it follows it with the camera from whatever angle you chose to put it at. I just watched Nitro from in front of it (at sunset ) and that got pretty disorienting. I love it!

Pushing Q will cycle you through the In Car, On Track, Flyby views (the Flyby view until you move it looks alot like the in car view, but if you play with the arrow keys and move out of the car then you know its in the fly-by view.) Oh yes, and the view depends on what car/seat you were in so if you start in the backseat and move the flyby to watch from the front, it will get VERY disorienting as the train moves in one direction, but you don't move until the back of the train moves. Same with if you start from the front.

Pushing T will allow you to change trains.

Pushing C will allow you to change cars.

Pushing V will allow you to change seats.

(if you need more hotkeys...push H)

Hope that helps
