| Super Twister
This new wooden twister features many twist and turns and non-stop action. The first drop was inspired by the new GCII wooden coaster at Valleyfair, Renegade. It has a twisting first drop that starts one direction and then twist the other direction, and super twister has a first drop very similar. It is also highlighted by going under two layers of track at the bottom of the first drop. The ride has than some floating aiir and lots of twist and turns. Quick Facts: Height: 108 feet Drop: 101 feet Top Speed; 51 mph Track Length: 3392 feet Trains: 2 GCII Millenium Flyer Trains (18 passengers) The ride is coming along, as the initial design is being looked at. The ride will likely be revised in certain areas, as the dynamics and supports will be modified in those sections. So it is likely that in 2-3 weeks the ride will be completed and ready to open. This means it should open in mid april, when most parks open. http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p3374 |

Very nice. I think that first drop should be steeper. Those look like some nice airtime hills.

Yeah, i am really thinking of adjusting the air time hills, since I like floating air time, but want more like -0.5 g's instead of 0 or -0.1 g's. So the profiles might change a little to have some more noticable airtime. A few turns could be banked a little differently or the shape could be adjusted. The first drop could be steaper, but one effect I like is how it has the close call at the bottom by going under the structure of two hills. I worry if I make it steeper, that effect would not be as effective. |

| I think not. Making it steeper would be too traditional and unoriginal. Why not try something different once in a while, I think a non-steep first drop is very cool to ride too.

Well thanks Erik, I sort of was going for something a little different, hence the twist one way go another, all while at the bottom going under two layers of track. Now most of my time will be spent tweaking the rest of the ride. I still have other coasters to finish, but wood coasters take the least time, so they usually get done soon. Have a Vekoma Flyer that needs tweaking and supports, and also a EuroFighter that mostly just needs support and minor tweaking. I hope to have this wood coaster done in a few weeks. The others, hopefully in a few months, just depends on hwo much other things I have to do. |

update 4/11/2007: The layout changed a bit at the end. It concludes with an airtime hill and and a double down, followed by a fast turn into the brake-run. The lift was also raised a few feet to account for the increase in track lenght of 200 feet or so. The first turn or so was banked and adjusted a little to keep the g's in check. Right now the ride seems to be running good, and just few minor changes. Clearance was checked using the tunnel technique, and right now there are no issues with any of the crossovers regarding enough clearance. The coaster should be ready to open hopefully bp April 21! added 5 more pics also: http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p3374 |
