Technically speaking, this isn't my first No Limits coaster...However, I've had the software for about 3 years now, and I never had the patience nor skill to design a very great coaster (all past attempts at coasters terribly sucked). Over the past year or so, I've began slowly learning the basics of the program called No Limits Elementary, which basically creates elements with the use of some formulas. At first it was HSAK, which I quickly gave up on due to not getting the element I wanted all the time. Recently, a friend of mine got me into this new formula called FVD or Force Vector Design. Over the past few days, I've spent countless hours figuring out how to use FVD to make elements for coasters. While learning, I decided to make a coaster as I was experimenting with the formulas and learning what sort of tweaking does what and just what kind of elements were possible with this thing. Believe me, the possibilities are endless (except for loops and anything over 90 degrees of course). So since I'm halfway done with this coaster I've spent many many hours working on, I figured I'd release it to the public and get people's opinion on it. Keep in mind that absolutely no planning went into this coaster and I basically played it by ear. What I've come up with thus far has truly amazed even myself considering just a few days ago I had no idea what the heck I was doing. Anyways, enough with my rambling. http://www.nolimitsdevcenter.net/p3919 EDIT: I named the coaster...*drum roll* Fatal Inertia. Last edited by Dan G; 08-25-2007 at 09:54 AM. |

Looks interesting, but the first drop appears odd. I have yet to learn FVDs and stuff, I might do that soon, but for now, I'm gonna hand build, smooth and AHG :P. Welcome on the NoLimits scene, or whatever this is.

I like the initial design, but since the coaster is so short and does not go that fast, I would consider trying to throw in some real tricky elements if possible. Other wise its just going to be a series of turns and hills...nothing wrong with that, but Intamin throws in way more complicated elements with these newer models.

Other dan, you are a better man than me if you can figure out how to work those FVD formulas. I have been tinkering with them for quite a while and I am starting to get a little bit of understanding of what does what, but I am still having a lot of trouble. I'm getting pretty good with HSAK though 8)

What the hell is this FVD you guys are talking about?

FVD is a set of formulas for the elementary program, which is used to create elements to be inserted into trackfiles. The FVD formulas work by telling it how many vertical Gs you want the coaster to pull over what time frame and with how much banking. Take a look at cp_mavericks jackal for an idea of what can be done with it.
