Help With Brakes!

For some reason I'm having trouble with the brakes on No Limits. Either the brakes completely stop the train or it doesnt slow down the train at all. What does the Speed Limit and Hystersis mean and do?

Help is greatly appreciated!

Speed limit is the speed at which the break will slow the ride down at. If the trains speed is over the Speed Limit the breaks will kick in and drop the trains speed down. I am not to sure what Hysteresis means so I just leave it at its default setting. You want to make sure that complete stop is unchecked other wise it will stop it completely. How many trains are you running? If you have 2 running and the break is set as a block break it will automatically stop the train on it until the block ahead of it is clear.

The hysteresis is really weird. Say you have the speed limit (S) at 10 mph, and the hysteresis (H) at 3 mph, then the brakes will slow the train down until the end of the segment if the initial speed is more than S+H. If the initial speed is between S and S+H, then it will only slow the train down until it reaches S. If it is less than S but more than S-H, it will release the brakes at S-H. I hope this makes sense. If not, either PM or IM me for clarification. Good luck with NL, and welcome to ThrillNetwork!

To put it simpler, if you have the speed limit at 10 and the hysteresis at 3, the brakes will kick in when the speed is 13 or faster, and they will slow it down to 7 (since 10-7=3). If you check the box to completely stop the train, then it will stop.

The others covered blocks. If you still don't get it, read the info that comes with NoLimits. It has images that help.

Thanks, Im starting to get used to it. Once you get used to No Limits, it's easily one of the best PC games out there.
