| Pit Fall - a past vertical terrain looping floorless coaster. No joke.
Ok, some preliminary information: Seabreeze, a small 20 acre amusement park (30 if you count the parking lot) in Rochester, NY is a nice, family friendly, traditional amusement park with Whirlwind, a Maurer Soehne Spinner, Bobsleds, a custom terrain Family coaster, similar to Matterhorn, but much smaller and not themed. It also has a Miller Kiddie coaster, Bear Trax, along with Jack Rabbit, the fourth oldest operating coaster on the planet (or third) at 89 years old this year. Their last coaster that went upside down was Quantum Loop, a 59 foot tall, compact double looper from French company Soquet. It was moved to Bogota, Columbia in 2003, and Whirlwind replaced it. The park doesn't have many rides for us thrill seekers, so I feel that it needs a new marquee attraction. Height: 110 feet Drop: 133 feet, 7 inches Speed: Approx. 63 miles per hour Model: Strata Thrills Company Floorless Coaster Inversions: 5 (Switchback, Immelmann, Loop, Inline Dive Loop, Rochester Roll.) Projected Track length: Between 2300 and 2700 feet Trains: 2 or 3, 3 cars each. This is it's location: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...Location-1.jpg It's NOT a lot of space. I had to make the first drop go under Jack Rabbit's tunneled finale (thank god it's elevated) and spill over the log flume and (short) miniature train and into the log flume's drainage basin/pond. Trying to fit a half mile long, 135 foot tall, 5 inversion roller coaster is very hard. I've been working on this since March, and I expect to get it done in June or July. Many thanks to Austin at coasterfuel.com, who's been extensively testing this ride and giving suggestions. Progress report: Track progress: 60% completed. 6 out of 10 elements finished. Station (made out of supports) progress: 0% completed. Work will begin after track is finished. Support work progress: 0% completed. Work will begin after the station is finished. Anyway, here are some pics: http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...2112759000.jpg Yep, you are seeing that correctly. A twisting, PAST VERTICAL drop. World's first, I believe. I calculated the first drop to be at 106.7 degrees. If you want to know the method to calculate that, just ask me, and I will give you a PM, but it requires knowledge of 10th grade Geometry. (You can PM me the coaster and I will calculate the drop angle if you don't understand the formula.) http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...2112845001.jpg This is the first of the three never before seen inversions: the Switchback. It originally curves out to the right, but then banks left, inverts, and then un-banks to the right again. http://i167.photobucket.com/albums/u...2112917002.jpg Here's an overview of the ride so far. |

This does look interesting. I'm not sure if I'm a fan of the twisting beyond vertical drop though. But that's just my opinion, i'm picky on element selection and layout. I don't like the colors that much either but depending on what colot the supports are that opinion could change. everyhting else looks good though.

Looks pretty good. Seems like there is a great mix of elements and I think you did a good job on the first drop. How do you upload NL Coasters, I have about 3 that i want to upload.
