I don't mean to be nosey but I happened to see GPs post count, and it was at 1003, then hours later it went to 3003, and he got his own avatar! Whats the deal?

I agree. I could have sworn he was at 700-1000 posts a few days ago. Then he shows up today with 3000+ posts and a custom avatar. That doesn't make any sense.

I've been trying to look for the cause, the past couple of days (between lots of stuff going on over here). I eventually traced it to when I updated post counts during a maintenance period. I've since remedied the problem.

Also, so you know, I'm considering further lowering the minimum # of posts when users can choose their own avatars, and vb3 will have a nice system that will help establish a "reputation" that I'm anxious to try once we have it live.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

I would honestly like to see a system where you could get rewarded like that with a combination of time and posts. I don't post alot, but I like to think that I think out my posts alot more than some of those that reply to every thread just to up their count. I'm sure there are others like that as well. People who post when they have something to say, but have been here for a long time.

I think that it should be left at 3000. I think that the custom avatar club should be a pretty exclusive club, but hey whatever.... it's not my site.

That's part of the reason why I am looking at lowering the minimum. vBulletin 3 has a "reputation" system, where if I get enough time to look at it, I may be able to have something where a user has to have a certain reputation before they get a custom avatar. That would help avoid the spammers a lot. My general feeling is there are members who have been around for a while, are regular posters, but are nowhere near 3000, and probably are more deserving of a custom avatar than others.

With all do respect why is a custom avatar something that should be deserved. This is the only site I know that your restricted to certain avatars. Dont get me wrong from the beginning I thought it was a cool idea. But you can keep the coaster avatars and also let people choose what they want. I dont see at all how it is something that should be awarded to a member.

Custom avators are fine as a reward. Just make the avators available at a minimum of 1000 posts or something.

The thing I don't like is how the "track" avators don't represent how many posts you have. People have giga track when they are wooden or looping posters. I think it's stupid. Either way, it's no big deal. It's just something I observed.

The way it used to be was that the higher posts you had, the different track you had represented the speed of the coaster on that track, which is why Ultra was the highest track piece. But now since Intamin has taken over that record (box shape track), that pretty much makes the idea null and void which is why, IMO, this new setup was devised for choosing your own avatar amongst a selection after 25 posts. Then should you reach 3000, you are able to create your own.

I believe it used to be 10000 posts before you could choose your own, but I think it was lowered for sanity sake.

Screw custom avatars. I know most message boards let you have them, but I like our ranking system before it got screwed over by allowing you to pick your own track.

Seriously what the hell are you admins and mods changing everything for the worse?

RiFT, we had many members asking to lower the custom avatar post count level and many more asking to get custom avatars like many message boards out there. We knew that lots of members spammed their way up the rankings to get better track so this system puts an end to that, and the way we have it now, members can't spam up to 3,000 posts because you have to be on TN for over a year to get a custom avatar.

We decided what was best from what members were asking for. They got tired of the post count/new avatar thing, and the custom avatar count was lowered. In general, more people like it than dislike it. I apologize for your disliking it. Wait for the update of the site. We will have some neat things when that comes around.

When does what come into effect? We already have the new avatar rule in effect. If you have over 3,000 posts and have been a member for over a year, you can make a custom avatar.
