Flame wars

I just figured that there are some flame wars going on lately. I feel that there are enough to justify a sticky thread being made to post all examples of flaming. What do mods think of this?

We'll keep an eye on them. I'm not sure what they were doing was exactly flaming, but nonetheless, we'll keep an eye on them.

Just a heads-up. This sorta seems like it might lead to a flame war. I'm not sure if it's really being replied to much anymore.

Interesting. That's definitely one to keep an eye on. It's some good spirited debate, which is rare. I just hope it can continue without becoming a flame war.

Enough with humoring that instigating crybaby, MixedMedia. His double standard and continuous attacks need to be addressed. See below and let's resolve it NOW. And while reviewing the attached thread, let's not forget his attempts to have others pnished and banned for spamming.

Sorry for taking sides, but miXmedia does not spam that much, and he did not mean most of them as flame wars. People saw the wick and lit it, so to speak.

Oy givalt! this thread is turning into a massive flame war between cedarpointzter and others because people think he is serious when he says X is death and stuff like that.

If I was the person to start that thread, I would delete it right about now. We knew it would become a flame war. CeDaRPoInTzTeR needs a good talkin' to. His first post was spam because he didn't say anything revelant to the topic except that X killed people (how ludicrous is that?). He knew he would be flamed, but he continued to throw wood on the fire. I don't know why he (or others, including me) bother anymore. If there's ever a topic about X or Millennium Force, Cedar Point or Magic Mountain, or the coaster record "wars," it should be deleted and the person who started it should be given a good talkin' to!

That thread's gotten out of hand. CeDaRPoInTzTeR's stating things and has no way to back them up, so people get mad. I know it's driving me nuts, but I am not going to reply anymore unless it's relevant to the topic. I think it should be locked and deleted. We all knew a flame war would happen. Part of the TOS should be a zero-tolerance flame war rule. If they happen, people get warned and banned or something. That'll stop 'em. No, I am not saying that CeDaRPoInTzTeR should be banned. He's a big part of these boards. I'm just saying that some people should back off on these stupid arguments, myself included.

No i dont think X is the best coaster
And then I stated my reasons why
Then I exaggerated on some parts to show how much I disagree
All I did was share my opinion, just like everyone else

THEN KraxleRidah was the one who started the flame war. He was the one who got off topic and called me a fanboy and mocked me, making nothing close to the topic, just insults at me.

Did I insult any member of this forum in my first post?

No, and the rest of my posts are there to defend myself and my opinion.

My current take on this thread is that some people got out-of-hand at times. I'm not going to point fingers because it doesn't matter right now. I then made a warning and people seem to be arguing (which is okay) and not flaming. If the thread returns to the level of flaming that occurred earlier, it will be closed, but as of now it will remain open.

Eric, I think you should take another look at the "Is X the best coaster thread". It's become a full fledged flame war, with the same person riling it up again. This guys adds nothing to any discussion nor the boards in my opinion, and exists only to create trouble because he's too immature to except that not everyone will bow to Cedar Point daily. I deal with him by giving him back what he dishes out, so sorry if I contributed to the nonsense.

Some one should do a history of all his posts, you will see who is usually at the root of most of the immaturity on this board.

In any event, I agree it's time to close the thread.

That thread's insane. He doesn't respond to logic at all. He's calling what he says an opinion is clearly not an opinion. He's stating it as fact that people have died on X, which cannot be seen as an opinion. How can saying "I think people will die on X" be an opinion? You can say "X is not a fun coaster," that's an opinion. He doesn't make sense to me. How can he really be saying that he heard of people dying on X? No one died on X. We'd hear about it, wouldn't we? Yeah! He's saying that people have died on X (or that it's his "opinion" that people died on X, which makes no sense). You know, he's been taking the Screamscape rumors too seriously (they had rumors saying that X was like banging your head on concrete). It's insane. I can't believe the thread's still there. It's only going to get worse, so I'd suggest closing it. The flames have seemed to stop, but they could start again if anyone tries to explain logic to him. He just won't listen. He makes no sense. Ag, it's a tired, old, stupid topic. It always has to go to SFMM vs. CP, doesn't it? The insanity needs to stop.

Did the actions of some before the warning constitute flaming? Yes. Right now it may be a very stupid argument, but it's not a violation of the ToS. Nobody's actually flaming right now. Because of that, I cannot close the thread. I made a warning, and the flaming stopped. See if you can steer the thread back on course, or if it's bothering you that much, don't visit that thread.
