Why was this locked?

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/...threadid=27362

Maybe an explanation besides "not happening" might have been more helpful. I'm just not seeing anything spam-like with this thread. Please help.

Because, 1, it was a pointless poll and 2, there is no such thing as "I'm taking off." Just take the time off, and chances are, things won't change much.

"I'm leaving" threads have been done before and all were locked.

Locking the thread was appropriate, because the line has to be drawn somewhere. Next there would be people saying "I'm taking time off tonight but I'll be back tomorrow" and the boards become clogged with items like that. If you are indeed leaving for awhile, you can always use PMs to let certain people know who might miss you, or emails or IMs or whatnot. If it came up, people tend to spread the word.

Thank you CP_M, I'll be sure to vote for you as the least effective mod.

While I personally like the idea, the poll was ridiculous, and it was kinda asking for trouble. I always wonder were some people are when they aren't on for long periods of time.

Maybe you can make a thread that specifies that you should only post if you are leaving for a week or more. It makes sense to me.

I agree with Phil, even about the poll being stupid. I get carried away sometimes..
