You're right, it is not spam. I don't see the reason why it was closed. Now I am going to PM all of the admins telling them to open it.

Let me step in...

A question was posed. Favorite color. Seeing as how it generates a one-word answer and offers no support for conversation, THAT are the reasons it was closed. In the future if polls are made, please keep in mind that they need to generate discussion and have a purpose or meaning. Asking a favorite color will not do that.

It's not spam. This is one of the rare times short one-word answers actually are the point.

Yeah, but does it really matter what your favorite color is?? No. Its not like anyone is going to say "Hey! So-and-So's favorite color is blue! I would have never guessed that!" No, they're just going to take the opportunity to quickly increase their post count and not even read anyone else's answer.

Don't sound so pissy, Darren.

It's kind of a grey area. Steven and I talked about it and we've come to agree with Andrew here. The one-word responses are too easily spammish. There's really no conversation that's going to happen.

Andrew covered the basic idea. Marc might want to step in here and say his opinion. Who knows, he may have something different to say.

I agree that this thread is not spam. You can learn about a person based on the answer given. There are tests available to find out personality traits/characteristics based on favorite color.

Just my 2 cents...

The reason why I tended to go with Andrew's opinion (and Marc's decision to close it) was because it can basically amount to a one-word answer.

I know favorite colors can sometimes tell a lot about someone, but in this case, the topic was way too general, and the answers were on average 3-4 words (my favorite is...). Some of them were even 1-2 words. There was no way that it could've had a more serious discussion, and it would've just clouded out other threads that had more of a discussion to them.

Basically, we want to discourage these type of threads and encourage other types of "polls" that encourage a lot more discussion much like a regular thread would. If you want to know basics like what their favorite color is, ask them privately.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).

What religion are you and what special meaning does blue have?

In my religion, blue means you like to play drums and play with paint. But I don't know about leeloo.

If you want to re-make a poll that includes color, make a "multi poll" so to speak. You could include like your astrological sign. (IE Capricorn, Vergo, Etc.)

Basically you could make a big ol favorites poll that would have more depth to it than colors etc.

Just a thought.

Intamin42, bugging the admins won't open the closed poll any faster.

Any questions you might have as to why a thread was closed, ask the mod that closed it. I think this thread has thus served its purpose.
