I can't figure out the prices on these things.

I love lucy is selling for like $20 more than shows that were released 20 and 30 years later.

Lucille Ball is dead and so is Desi, so who is making all the money off of those I wonder.

I want to get the original Twilight Zone sets, but there's 5 boxes at about $100 each.

Star Trek has got to be the worst. $100 is the average price for any of their different serieses. It's not like they've had so many more epsiodes that other shows.

On this topic of TV DVD's, has anyone heard if the new Battlestar Galactica will be released on DVD???

I got into the show about half way through and would like to watch the complete season before the 2nd one starts.

I really got additcted to that show like I was with 24 the first season.

I guess you could say the price is relative, Homer. Average DVD price ranges about $15. These box sets have 3 or 4 DVDs in them, so with the sets ranging from $40 on up is to be expected.

Although I don't understand or I guess I do but it pisses me off all the same is that some are so much more expensive than others. 24 has to be one of the biggest bargains. It has 6 disks and usually retails for about $45 whereas some showss have less but yet cost upwards of about $100. It was also nice to see that Seinfeld wasn't ridiculously priced when it came out. I love the show Curb Your Enthusiasm but they're a little expensive too. They only have 10 half hour episodes and cost about $35. I've bought season 3 but it is a little much for not a lot of content.

What really bugs me is that DVD seasons are coming out for shows that are barely a year old. Oh well, the only DVD seasons I get (except for the Simpsons and Reno 911) have been over for a while.

It very's buy show and popularity i guess. Home Improvement season 1 was $35 where The OC season 1 was $60 and Queer As Folk season 1-4 runs about $100-$120 each.

Well, usually when that's the case, it's shows that are still on TV currently. Two main reasons is to build anticipation for the upcoming season and it works as a great tie-in for the DVD and new season. The other main reason is for those who may have missed some of the last season. It works as a great way for fans to catch up on aything they missed before the start of the new season. That reason has come in handy for me with The Shield since I always miss a few episodes here and there.

Ever since I started watching TV shows on DVD I have dtopped watching them on TV whenever possible. One major advantage is that I can get it in the original aspect ratio on DVD, whereas on my TV I get 24 and Lost in fullscreen. It's also better to be able to watch it at your own pace, and with no commercials.
