I actually really like this game.......I think I like it most for the insane crashes, explosions, and ejections of the bikes. The racing is decent but the crashes give it that great Burnout feel that I really dig.

Well looks like sony is releasing a MAJOR update to its online system to make it better, and if it holds true it would seem quite a bit better than live.

http://kotaku.com/gaming/sony/rumor-...ome-240746.php

Credit to all the guys at Neo Gaf for the following:
This concept was described at IGN in Februrary as well:
freakyguy666: Has anyone else heard the rumors of a major Sony Online upgrade? Apparently the update will make the Xbox LIVE interface look antiquated in comparison. Apparently the interface is set up like a Virtual Town where each user has their own virtual apartment. Within your apartment you store your collection of acheivements and virtual trophies to show off to any "visitors" (i.e. people on your Friends list). Your friends could visit you if you are "home" (i.e. online)and once inside they could "walk around" your apartment and view how you've decorated your place. But more importantly, they could listen to any music or watch videos that you've got in your place (i.e. content you've stored on your PS3). Furthermore, your friends could join you for a game of cards or other simple games while listening to your music or even running a movie on your virtual TV (again using data on your PS3 HD). Once outside of your apartment you could visit the virtual Movie Theater to download--what else?--video content, visit the virtual Arcade, and other more exciting areas that I'm not at liberty to discuss yet...

The bottomline is that the interface is going to get a major overhaul and it's supposed to be very slick and user friendly. It will make apparent the advantages of the PS3 hardware and--dare I say--the new Sony Online Network.

People think the new interface may be called Home. It was recently discovered Sony rushed to get a patent for the term Sony HOME, and this concent image was created.

Heres the basically confirmed list of updates for the BIG march update (before euro release)

Big Update!

This is a rumor, but almost fully true. The details of Phil's keynote.

Firmware update available on the 8th for North America/Japan and Asia. European PS3's will be preloaded with this latest update.

Features of this latest firmware include:

More refined PS Store frontend
Playstation Network integrity enhanced
Wallpapers from pictures
Ability to change background colours
Sony Connect Store for music and movies added to the PS Store. Hundreds of trailers/full films/song videos and mps3's available for download.
Playstation Card option in PS Store enabled.
Playstation Lifestyle- Similar to my space/youtube. User generated content and experiences are the key.
+ more.

Removal of Emotion Engine chips in PS3's in NA and Japan to follow in April. Reason for this is to reduce costs and focus on enhanced opportunities via software. Benefits include the ability to upscale selected PSone/PS2 games to 1080i/720p.

Lots of development talk.
Release dates for key games. Warhawk in June/July 2007. Heavenly Sword delayed. Killzone and MGS4 in late 2007.

New content on PS Store available on the 8th:

Tekken 6 trailer
Lair demo & trailer
Rainbow Six Vegas demo
EA: Skate trailer
Battlefield Bad Company trailer
Warhawk demo
Virtua Fighter 5 demo
Virtua Tennis 3 demo & trailer
GRAW 2: trailer
Mortal Kombat 2 game
Killzone trailer

Killzone demo for May.

More details. Stay tuned on the 7th.

I'm wondering what will happen to the first gen PS3's with the PS2 emotion engine in them, will an update just disable it and use hardware to upscale games?

edit: oh yeah Sony and Immersion are now getting along... hopefully that means rumble on updated sixaxis's http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/769/769390p1.html

I'm going to go back to something a good friend of mine named slipknot said back in November.

"You don't even realize the glee I am getting watching Sony fail at life."

Let's see, not only is PS3 going to have a better online interface THAT IS FREE now, but they are also going to have the best of both worlds once they start incorporating force feedback into the Sixaxis controllers. Not to mention for $100 more than a Premium 360, you get a BUILT IN high definition blu-ray player. So, let's review...What does Microsofot and the 360 still have over the PS3? Ok, I'll admit the price is cheaper and you have a few decent games, but open your eyes guys, Sony is marching their way back to the top.

I'm very interested to see how 360 fanboys are going to react to all this news.

A few decent games? Let's review:

Gears of War
Rainbow Six: Vegas
Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter
Splinter Cell: Double Agent
Quake 4
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 3
Crackdown
Need For Speed: Carbon
Project Gotham Racing 3
Gun
Lost Planet

All these games are one's I would consider purchasing. I know there are a few on PS3 also, but I'm just naming games worth playing on Xbox 360.

Coming Soon:
Bioshock
Mass Effect
Halo 3
Army of Two
Assasin's Creed
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberian Wars
Half-Life 2
Forza Motorsport 2
Unreal Tournament 3
Grand Theft Auto: 4
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2

A few decent games eh? I dunno, all these games in this list I would consider/probably will buy. I mean I'm not saying Sony is getting "raped", but if you're gonna talk about 360, then expect me to fill ya in.

Yeah well MOST of those games are going to be multi-platform and Sony has their fare share of exclusives, MGS4 and GT5 to start. Honestly with my xbox I had like one exclusive to xbox game (PGR2) and with 360 I have two exclusives (GoW and PGR3), with PS2 I had gran turismo, socom, ACE combat, final fantasy, metal gear and then a bunch of multi system, I love all the old PS2 exclusives and cant wait for them to come to next gen.

Lets see here is my prospective 2007 buying list.

Xbox 360: Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, Forza Motorsport 2, Halo 3, Alan Wake

PS3; Half Life 2 Orange Box, Metal Gear Solid 4, Unreal Tournament 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Gran Turismo 5, Devil May Cry 4, Oblivion, Killzone 2,

Undecided: Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, Mercenaries 2

Nothing like a refreshing trip back to what true gaming used to be, before everyone needed all the special features. I still love playing Sonic 1 and 2, Galaga, and Pole Position more than I do the modern games (with the exception of DDR and Guitar Hero). I'll probably get a PS2 before I even get a Wii, mainly because I love DDR and Guitar Hero but am not about to shell out much over $200 for a system.

LOL......wow! I like those back in the day speeches!

But if Sony can pull all this online Stuff off and it remains free then I will honestly be impressed. That is a lot of cool tricks that would require loads of funds to get going.

Actually, I was born in '89, thank you very much. I still remember playing the NES and SNES when they were the hip systems and Mario Kart was the best game (IMHO) with my cousins and friends. I still remember stuff from trips to Cedar Point when I was only 3, back when Mean Streak was brand new. I have a sharp memory for some stuff. Just because I'm only 17 and born in '89 doesn't mean I don't know anything about the classic games and systems. After all, you only have four years on me until April Slipknot, then its back to three. I remember the Saturn and the failure that that was. Heck, I remember repeatedly asking my mom for one and admiring the stuff on the back of the Genesis box. I do my history research on the stuff I don't have personal experience with.

Plus, I was just stating my opinion in a way you obviously didn't understand. Now I think I know why Dan gets so frustrated with you.

Oh, and something else just came to mind; you act like I have no place/experience to talk about the classic games and systems because I was "too young to know any better" when they came out. Just a heads up, they still exist, and I play them more than I do anything on my 'Cube and PC. What you just basically said to me would be like telling a music education major that they have no place/right to talk about Bach or Beethoven to their students like they knew them. Just because they weren't around doesn't mean that person doesn't have knowledge about that topic. All it takes is some research, and in this case, spending time playing the games.

Psh my first Entertainment System was that jungle of wires where you can drag the beads along them and make them do cool loops and swirls.

^lol classic. Speaking of classic, I still play my SNES more than my cube or even my computer. Everything is just so... so perfect on it.

Any news on GTA IV for the Wii? I am doubting it, because it would be a pain to convert. From what I have head, the development team had a lot of work for them when the converted The Godfather to the Wii. However, it seems that a lot of companies are supports the Wii since it hit 4.5 million.

Can anyone clear up GH being ported to the Wii/PS3?

I have you all beat. I remember playing games on my Dad's Atari 2600 where one button was all that was needed on a joystick.

The same thing happened to me, my dad had one and wouldn't let us play so my mom bought me the NES that came with the light gun, and a power pad. Cool stuff! So Mine turned out to be loads better than his crappy Atari!!!!!!!

Well sony's new online interface has been confirmed, heres a video of it http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...pe=wmv&pl=game . Looks a little weird but at least they are putting in a universal friend feature like xbox live so thats good.

And heres a vid of Forza 2 in game on 360, I definately can't wait for this game.
http://www.gametrailers.com/player.p...pe=wmv&pl=game

Also Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 is out for 360 http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/770/770982p1.html and got a 9.1 from IGN, looks like I'll have to pick it up

That PS3 thing...I just don't know. It seems like a really cool idea, but I mean, it's basically the Sims. And I'd hate to text people back and forth....

I dunno. It seems like it could be really cool, or really crappy.

Well if you have a bluetooth headset you can just talk instead of type. Hopefully sony pulls it off though.

Yeah, but how many people are going to get the headset?

I'm on the fence on it though....

It's nice to see Sony doing....SOMETHING exciting though.

Its not one headset, its any bluetooth headset like ones for phones, I just use the one from my dad's phone and it works great.

The PlayStation online thing seems pretty sweet for being free and all. What I want to know is if Crackdown is worth buying? I think IGN gave around an 8...

Just wanted to give an update for anyone that was interested.
I decided to mail my 360 to McAllen,TX (Microsoft's Repair Center).
I sent it snail mail using USPS, which cost about $18.00 with insurance.
The package arrived in TX on the 3/3. On 3/8 I recieved a brand new 360 and a letter from Microsoft. The letter stated that in order to get me back to gaming as soon as possible, they decided to replace my system with the new one.

To say the least, I was very surprised (and happy) to get a new system (mine was built in Nov. 05). I was worried that they would just "fix" my old 360 and it would just stop working within a couple of weeks. My warrenty on the new system is 1 year, which was another issue I was worried about.

All in all, I believe Microsoft did a great job treating my problem fairly and quickly. I am a happy consumer once again.

I've heard mixed things, but for the most part no one seems to be going crazy over it. If you want a "Filler" game (As in one to play between now and Forza) GRAW2 and Crackdown are pretty safe bets.

Also, I don't think you own Lost Planet yet, and that game is pretty good and worth a pickup as well.

Did anybody see that "The Wii is a peice of #%$&/The Wiii is NOT a peice of #%$&" ordeal? Just seems funny, seeing as how EA widely supports the Wii and it was an EA employee that made the statement.

Oh well, rants always happen I suppose.
