Dan is banned lol.

I never buy stuff at gamestop, my last 3 games I've gotten at amazon and a few of my other ones I got from like Costco, Target, or Best Buy. I should go down to the Gamestop at the mall and see if they are as bad as you say.

Martin and Coasterlove, if you grab PS3 don't forget to get resistance it is a damn fun game.

I'm friendly with most of the guys at my local Gamestop, so I never get the crap that Kyle was talking about. I guess it depends on your location. Personally I think Wal-mart sucks. They usually have no idea what they are talking about game-wise, they don't take reserves(not really a problem, but I like the guarantee), and $70 for a non-special/legendary edition of Halo 3 the first week? Forget that.

In Tally we have a great local chain ( 2 stores) called Games 4 Less. They beat the snot out of any national chain, especially if you're into classic gaming as well. They go back from the 2600 to present. I bought my Nomad, my NEO GEO Pocket Color, My Saturn, My Game Boy Light( japan released only backlit version of the Monochrome Game Boy), as well as some of my rarest games there. Killer selection and the price is quite reasonable on the ultra-rare games that would normally require a bank loan to buy off e-Bay.( I hear they sell Panzer Dragoon Saga for $75 when they get one)

Nah. I've never been a big fan of FPS games. I'm sure it's a great game but if I was a FPS fan, I'd definitely get an Xbox 360 for games like Halo 3 and Bioshock.

You listed a pretty big spectrum there...

But as per Halo 3, while yes, its fun and a pretty darn good game, but here are some other worthy FPS contestants:
-The Orange Box
- Rainbow Six: Vegas
- F.E.A.R.
- Call of Duty 2 (Maybe 3?)
- Quake 4

You can find FEAR and Quake 4 for cheap should you get a Xbox 360.

I was sure I was missing many great FPS games but that's just it, I'm not a real big fan of them so I don't pay too much attention to them. I was just pointing out that if I did want some great FPS action, I'd definitely skip over the PS3 and make my way over to the 360.

I've heard some great things about all those games listed above, just not my cup of tea despite everyone drinking it. Laugh at me if you will but I always feel lost in those games and never know which way I came from and which way I'm going.

"Did I just go down that hallway or is that the hallway I need to go through now?"

"Why does that hallway look exactly the same, is that the same guy I just killed?"

Of course that complaint of similar baddies seems to apply for many games.

And right now, it's hard for me to commit to either system since I'm trying to save some money. I know that once I spend a few hundred dollars on the console, I need to spend couple hundred dollars more on games and accessories.

For now, I'll stick with the Wii and it's fun games with sometimes GC/PS2/Xbox style graphics. At least I have Resident Evil- The Umbrella Chronicles to look forward to and I might pick up Super Mario Galaxy as well.

Hah, don't play Quake 4 or Doom 3 then. Both games have repetitive environments and characters. Both do have some fun elements though; Quake 4 more-so than Doom 3.

However, if you have any chance you can, get BioShock. Its quite possibly the most revolutionary FPS since Half-Life 2, utilizing a lot of new features, stunning visuals, and great character and story development. But something tells me you already know this...

The orange box is an amazing deal. You can buy it on steam for about 50 dollars. Considering it contains one of the greatest games of all time (HL2), plus the two HL episodes that are out (both awesome!), team fortress 2 (one of my favorite games of all time), and the insane puzzle action of portal.

The only downside to DLing it on steam is that it can take hours to download just one game. Granted you save some money on gas and sales tax.

Call of Duty 4 has gotten a 9.4 from IGN on both the 360 and PS3.

Gametrailers gave it the same score as well.

I think this is the first game since GoW that IGN gave a 10 in graphics.

from the IGN review
Quote:
"The company has become synonymous with the virtual beach at Normandy. So it was quite a gamble to break from the comfort zone of Nazi-occupied Europe and leap into present day. The gamble paid off. Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and every other military-based shooter has been put on notice. There is a new standard to judge this sub-genre and it is Call of Duty 4."

I just played Starfox on the SNES.

Freakin' sweet.

So I think the Wii is raping all other console at this point, so lets go back 40-50 pages and see who called what.

Funny you mention that, go back WAY far in this thread and you'll see that Slipknot said: "I can see Nintendo coming out on top of this generation" or some form of that sentence.

Slipknot wins.

I was interested in this game but disappointed to hear it was censored so badly. The death scenes are all cleverly blurred or distored as to make it seem as if his judgement is cloudy or has gone crazy when he kills someone. So Rockstar did a good job with that since they had little choice other than scrapping the game once the ESRB gave it an AO rating originally. So Rockstar did what they had to do in order to get an M rating.

I think it's shame that both Nintendo and Sony won't allow an AO game on their console. And while Manhunt 2 wasn't released for the Xbox 360, they went on record saying they also have the same policy as Nintendo and Sony. Many retailers won't sell AO games either.

I think it's sad that that's the case. More and more, adults are playing video games. I don't see what the problem is with adult video games. With just a little work, these games can be kept out of children's hands.

American citizens don't want to be parents. They'd rather have laws and regulations do that for them. In the days before ratings, my parents knew what was in the games I wanted to buy. They were real parents that did research on what is was they were considering purchasing me, and decided if they thought I was ready for it, even if I disagreed. When I borrowed Mortal Kombat from my friend, my parents identified it as soon as I walked in the room, and you best believe I had to return it the next day.

Now the world is filled with stories of parents buying games blindly for their kids, then later being surprised and outraged at the content. Fool, it's on the lable that the game has drug use, violence, and sex! You have no excuse! Being a proactive parent seems not to be the trend anymore. Being a reactive or overactive parent unfortunately seems to be the way that a significant portion of the parental population is preferring to perform. It's sad.

My dad is at least "aware" of some games and their content, and he is in his 50s. LOL he was the one who introduced me to "marathon infinity" when I was 5. Then I got into half-life when I was about 8 or so. Then he got me hooked on rollercoasters when I was about 10, which caused me to go crazy with RCT games(as well as everything else to do with coasters).

Amazon is complete bull****. I called them and they told me that mine is getting here next Tuesday. I'm calling them tomorrow again to cancel and picking up a copy elsewhere.

Pending that I get it by then, I can play some on Thursday night and I have all of Friday off.

yeah, same thing happened to me when I ordered AC6, if you don't pre-order far enough in advance you don't get in the first shipment. Mine got shipped 2 day DHL from Deleware. Normally I get 2 day UPS from Nevada.

I could've picked mine up today, but I'll get around to it Thursday. I pre-ordered it on Sunday...

8( grrr I wish AC6 would have been on the PS3 at the same time, or earlier(don't really care who gets it first). It looks so cool, and I can only work on ACX for so long. I have S rank on every mission on hard, except for the final mission-version 3 of area 3. "Wild Card" is the name of the mission, I believe. I fly in with my falcon and zap-fry everything on the map and I still only get an A...

The newest Mario game, Super Mario Galaxy, comes out next week and a couple reviews are in.

Gamespot gave it a 9.5 (Editor's Choice)
IGN gave the game a 9.7 (Incredible)

These are some of the absolute highest scores given out by those two sites this year or ever.

And the most recent weekly sales for consoles as reported by http://www.vgchartz.com/ list the Wii as the #1 selling console. The Wii saw a modest 7% increase to sell 146,134 consoles. The Xbox 360 came in just behind it with 138,778. The PS3 did see an increase of 26% to sell 55,446 consoles. Despite increase, it still sold well less than half either the Wii or Xbox 360 for the week.

I guess the price drop wasn't as big a deal as someone expected. And despite the "surge", it still trails the competition by a very large margin wit virtually no chance of catching up anytime soon...if ever.

Guitar Hero III dominated game sales with the Xbox 360 leading the way by selling an unbelievable 798,671 copies in it's first week of release. The Wii copy came in a distant second with a still very impressive 271,053 copies, even outselling the PS2 version despite a much larger installed base. Last of the four versions was the PS3 edition which sold 113,040 which could be considered a bit disappointing.

Yeah the Wii finally has some heavy hitters: Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Galaxy. Only thing is that I don't really see a HUGE increase in sales once Brawl rolls out, because I think a lot of people interested in Wii already have one.

I need to pick up Call of Duty 4 today; looks like a pretty amazing game.

Call of duty 4 is incredible. The single player is super intense and the Multiplayer in my opinion the best Shooter multiplayer on the 360. Graphics are insane especially on my 50in LCD in 1080p.
I'm still looking for a reason to get a Wii but I'm not interested in ugly or kiddie games, so I need some cool stuff. My PS3 plays my X-men last stand Blu-ray disc....LOL!

I just played some single player CoD 4 for quite a while. It was awesome, no doubt about it. Multiplayer is incredible too.
