| Since there will be two sets, and at least one of those will be an unopposed set, I'm sure I'll check them out at some point. I'm just not a big Jam Band fan...

I have been just because of Umphrey's Mcgee being from South Bend. And they got their roots from Phish. Which got me into Phish. Have you seen the Lolla boards? They have no idea who were getting. They Beasties and Janes. The nthey argue over Coldplay and The Killers. But honestly, I don't think anybody on there has any idea. But I like the idea of Beasties being the 3rd headliner. As long as their not the 1st one. There is no one other than Coldplay, Flaming Lips, and The Killers that they are saying that I really would be excited for. Well Blink but that won't happen.

Yeah, I've been posting on the Lolla boards probably 20X more than I have been here for a long while now. And yeah, no idea. But to be honest, nothing I've heard has made me all the excited, I highly doubt I'll be going this year.

If I didn't live 90 minutes away I wouldn't even think of going this year. Unless everyone is way off with predictions. I'll probably be going one day again this year. We were planning on going all three but things aren't looking good with bands like Depeche Mode, Massive, and Janes Addiction headlining.

^ The Funny part is out of all the rumored headliners, Depeche Mode and Massive Attack would definitely make me the most excited. And anyways, the middle and lower tier is really what makes a great festival, and if Lolla plays their cards right, those could great this year.

I agree. The middle and lower-tier bands will probably excite me more. Last year was a fluke with Radiohead, Racs, Bloc Party, and Wilco.

I haven't seen a good rock and roll show in a LONG time. ![]() My best bud and I are going to Rock On The Range in Columbus, OH in May. I was going to CP's opening weekend but screw that. Alice In Chains, Black Stone Cherry, Slipknot, Korn, Chevelle, Buckcherry and the CRUE? All in the same weekend? Hell YEAH! -Tina

Ha. So we can almost confirm them as in for Lolla now. I'll give it too, I listened to them for first time. They aren't my favorite sound but I like them. I'd give them a chance at Lolla if they were going against someone I didn't like.

^ I want that cd. Tonight is the night for me. "For me this is Heaven" Jimmy Eat World Clarity 10x. It should be called "Lucky Philly Mint" not "Lucky Denver Mint" tonight. I'm back: The show was excellent. They played the whole Clarity album in entirely since it's the 10 year anniversary. The keyboards and the little things of the album even were there. Goodbye Sky Harbor was very complete. The encore opened up the rest of their catalog so I got No Sensitivity from one of their EPs, 23. I never heard Goodbye Sky Harbor, 23, and For Me this is Heaven all in the same show til now so it felt very special. The Arizona undertones were very apparent so finally I feel deeply part of the fanbase. The fanbase aged enough or knew how exclusive the show was to not be real rowdy. We knew that we didn't need to hear The Middle. I have some work so I went to Wawa for coffee immediately after the show. I saw guys from Massachusetts there so I figured they came for the same show.

Nice Leo, I'm not sure that I will be able to agree with you on that one after Saturday. I was lucky enough to score a $175 ticket to J.E.W. for Chicago. I don't even think I need to ask how they were. Glad you enjoyed yourself. Last concert I went to was last Saturday at Reggie's Rock Club downtown Chicago. If you park in the liqour store's lot make sure you pay the man. I saw The Reign of Kindo. What a musically tight band. They are also really lyrical. Check them out at myspace.com/thereignofkindo . Saturday will not come soon enough, but at the same time what will I have to look forward to after it's over? Maybe a tax return for a change? Probably not This is my first post in YEARS. Crazy how you lose track of things... |

Just got 4 tickets for Rise Against on July 31. Cost me $7.05 each when buying groups of 4...$14each with service charges, because Ticketmaster likes to double the cost of tickets like that. Not the greatest seats, but it's $14...

I hate seats. From now on I'm always at a standing venue. Reubens Accomplice was a good opener for Jimmy Eat World. A girl plays drum and the slide guitar was pretty cool. The one sure concert I'll get at SFGADV this year is Toby Mac.

I prefer seats to standing. If you don't like the band that's on, you can just sit down. But, if it's a band you like, you can stand (chances are the band you like is the headliner, and everyone else is standing). I'm not a fan of mosh pits; claustrophobia aside, if you leave your spot (if you can leave your spot), it's gone; you'd have to push your way through layers of people to get back in there. Plus, you run the chance of being near a circle pit and accidentally getting pushed in (not fun).

The seats would somewhat look good for a festival to sit when you don't like a band but I think that dampens the mud slinging moshing vibe of the festival it's supposed to be right? My neck hurts at some shows from ducking for surfing. I kind of like standing rigid during pits. If they get near me hopefully they get knocked over and learn their lesson. As long as I don't break an arm I don't mind jutting an elbow for defense.

Does anyone know when/if Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, or Rise Against are coming to Atlanta Georgia? I would really like to go to a concert for all three of them.

I got a ticket for Rise Against, Rancid, and Billy Talent here in Orlando. Should be a good show.

I think the problem is how big Billy Talent is in Canada. Billy Talent would headline over Rise Against if the played canada, but this is a Rise Against/Rancid Co-Headlining tour. It would be awkward to have BT headline over them for only the Canadian dates.

While that could be true, if a band is opening (even in their home town) they know that they are just opening. I went to an Evanescence concert before where Three Days Grace was the opener. Three Days Grace is from a town very close to Toronto, and even though a lot of people loved them, the band still just opened. Same goes for the other Evanescence concert I went to, Finger Eleven was the opener, and people went crazy for them, but the band still was just the opening act.

I'm not sure you realize the difference in popularity BT has between the US and Canada. BT plays 500 person clubs in the US (and usually doesn't sell them out), in Canada they play arenas. There's a difference in having a band with a hometown crowd opening (like your example), and having a band that truly has a larger fan base opening. RA wouldn't want Billy Talent to open for them in the Canada because it is supposed to RA's tour, not Billy Talent's tour, but most the tickets would get sold to Billy Talent fans, not Rise Against Fans. If Rise Against wanted to do a big arena show and play with Billy Talent they would, but this is supposed to be a headlining tour for Rise Against, one not in Arenas. The point of an opener (especially in this case, since there is always two big groups playing) is to showcase a group to a similar fan base to try and gain fans for that group. It's a chance for headlining bands to invite groups they like to come on tour with them and give them the chance to gain a bigger fan base. Billy Talent does not fit that idea at all, at least not in Canada.
