Water Proof Ipod?

Are ipods (any kind) water proof? i'd like to know. I have a 30 g and i aint about to try it! I think i'll keep it for awhile! So if anybody's done it or tried it or whatever post here. I mean ipods are all sealed up and they look water tight.

And if they arent it'd be a good idea to make them. So maybe you could listen while your in the shower or the pool. That'd be priddy cool

You have to buy a special case for it. I don't know if it is availible at any stores, but I know someone that ordered it from eBay. Water will ruin your iPod without the case, water will leak in through the headphone port and ruin the internal components.

I forgot to add that you need special headphones as well. It's meant for scuba-divers .

I think its just a waste of money to but it, only if you'll really use; not just using it once.

I saw one that was rock solid and really good for any underwater purposes, but I forget the site.

Try searching www.ilounge.com

Those skymall catalogues on the airplane have water proof headphones www.skymall.com. I don't remember seeing the casings though. I believe they sell them at the apple store.

i was just at a SCUBA shop yesterday and was looking at the water proof boxes for Ipods. I had mentioned that this would be good for deep divers who have to spend a lot of decompression time on the line. He informed me that the issue is that they are only good to 160ft, which is just outside the recrerational limits (little or no decompression time required within limits). The people that have very long decompresson times alway go deeper than that.

Being a recreational diver who spends 5 to 6 minutes ascending from a 100 ft dive, typically, would not want this. It would change the whole SCUBA experience. Even if it was loaded with my favorite music, it is something that just doesn't belong there and therefore would detract from enjoying the reef fish or wreck that I'm there to see in the first place.

I'm pretty sure my iPod is not waterproof and I don't really want to test the theory either. But my brother's iPod on the other hand.....hmmmmm.

You can buy swim caps that have waterproof slots for iPod nanos/small mp3 players. It really helps when you have those long, sucky sets. It looks weird, but it's pretty nice to have.
