It's mostly sold to educational groups and all. Basically, you take on a person, from birth to death, and you have to try to live life as much as possible.
When I first played, the game decided I should be born as a girl named Sofia, from a small town in southern Russia. I had a younger brother, Roman.
As I grew up, I did well in school, got involved in religion and activism, then went to college. I then spent 4 years in prison for not ratting out others during a political rally, then went on to grad school. I then got a job as a Police Chief, and of course, through a shady dealing, a salary that started out at 48,000 rubles (increased to 52,000 rubles halfway through) and investments, gained a fortune of over 7 million rubles.
I was married twice (first to a guy named Ivan who I divorced cuz he got violent), then to a salesman named Yuri. When I turned 60, I cashed in my investments, and we emigrated to Norway and got a job as a college professor. Yuri then died at the age of 76 from a stroke.
At 80, I retired with a net worth of 5 million krones. I then lived life until I died of 85 of an infection brought on by my weakening by old age (which is funny cuz I kept her physically fit all along). Even with my investments, I was worth 7.4 million krones (that's about 33 million rubles I found out from Yahoo's currency calculator).
The shareware version won't let you create your own character, so I was stuck with what I had. Strangely though, it did have me pursuing another woman at one time (I guess my character was bi).
