RIP Heath Ledger

This just completely caught me by surprise...
Quote:
The actor Heath Ledger was found dead this afternoon in an apartment building at 421 Broome Street in SoHo, according to the New York City police. Mr. Ledger was 28.
At 3:31 p.m., a masseuse arrived at Apartment 5A in the building for an appointment with Mr. Ledger, the police said. The masseuse was let in to the home by a housekeeper, who then knocked on the door of Mr. Ledger’s bedroom. When no one answered, the housekeeper and the masseuse opened the bedroom and found Mr. Ledger unconscious. They shook him, but he did not respond. They immediately called the authorities.
The police said they did not suspect foul play. Officials said pills were found near the body.
Mr. Ledger, a native of Perth, Australia, won acclaim for his role as a co-star in “Brokeback Mountain”, a 2005 film. The film, based on a short story by Annie Proulx about two cowboys who fall in love, won critical acclaim. Reviewing the film in The New York Times, the critic Stephen Holden wrote, “Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a great screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”
Mr. Ledger met the actress Michelle Williams while filming ‘’Brokeback Mountain.” The two actors fell into a very public romance. They had a daughter, Matilda Rose, who was born on Oct. 28, 2005. They moved to Brooklyn, but then separated last year.
In an interview in London for an article published in November, Mr. Ledger said told The New York Times, ‘’I feel like I’m wasting time if I repeat myself.” He said in the interview that he was not proud of his latest role, in Todd Haynes’s “I’m Not There,” in which Mr. Ledger was one of a half-dozen actors depicting the musician Bob Dylan. ‘’I feel the same way about everything I do. The day I say, ‘It’s good’ is the day I should start doing something else,” said in the interview.
Calls by The Times to Mara Buxbaum, a publicist for Mr. Ledger, and Steve Alexander, the actor’s agent, were not immediately returned this afternoon.

This is a complete shock, I liked a lot of movies and am looking forward to seeing him portray the Joker in the upcoming Dark Knight.

RIP Heath Ledger

This is pretty shocking. I've never been fond of any of his movies, but he was definitely a good actor and it's a shock to find this out. I wonder what happened.

Drug overdose is the possible cause of his death.

I just can't believe what I read. I am in total shock for such a young person to die like that...even though they say drug overdose.

I am pretty sad right now....

This is pretty crazy.

Whats going to happen to Dark Knight now? I mean, I heard that the shooting of the film had finished... so, even if thats true, I wonder If it will even be released?

I think the film will still be released. Filming is complete, and as sad as the news is, I can't see them just throwing the film away. If anything, I can see them maybe dedicating the movie in his memory...he looks like he did an awesome job as Joker and it's one of the last roles we'll ever see him in.

This was one of those things you hear and it doesn't quite sink in for a few hours. I heard the news and thought "WHAT?!? I couldn't have just heard that!" Then, even as I saw the report on it, I was still suspended in disbeleif asking "How?" and "Why?" it could have happened. This really is horrible news. He'd of been one of the last ones I'd suspected of an early death. It makes me wonder though; he said that he had trouble sleeping after playing the Joker. Could he maybe have gotten too involved in his character, and had a mental breakdown?

Of course the Dark Knight will be released. Queen of the Damned was after Aaliyah died.

I mean, not to sound totally synical, but it's kinda adding to the alure of the dark knight. i mean, this is supposedly his greatest role ever, and at the end, the joker dies.

It's really strange how all this happened.

Did anybody here even say the film wouldn't or shouldn't be released? They're not going to not release a multi-million dollar production because one of the actors died during post production...

This is exactly the same situation as Aaliyah. She died in a plane crash shortly after completing filming for Queen of the Damned.

RIP.

No, but BGWfanatic asked what would happen to the movie and if it will still be released.
