DisneyWar

I am currently reading the book DisneyWar by James B. Stewart about Michael Eisner's 20 year tenure at the Walt Disney Company. Have any of you ever read it before and what did you think about it? It is very fascinating to me and filled with all kinds of little pieces of information that I didn't know before. Did you know that Disney passed on the chance to make Survivor, CSI, and Lord of the Rings?

He is an excerpt from the book:

"In 1988 he (Michael Eisner) was paid his salary of $750,000, a bonus of $6.8 million (2 percent of the profits over $100 million), and he earned $32.6 million by exercising some of his stock options (he had an unrealized profit of $50.5 million on the rest of his options.) His total income of just over $40 million that year made him the highest paid executive in America."

That is crazy, in 1988 he made over $40 million! So far, it is proving to be an excellent book.

It is an amazing book, but can be a bit too detail-y for some tastes.

Eisner was great for Disney when he first started there, but he lost his touch quite quickly in the early 90s, and became the cheapwad we all know and.. know. haha.

Glad is he gone, quite frankly. Disney is doing much better under Iger's leadership, as evidenced by their approving a contract extension and pay raise..

Books = Media.

Media = Media Discussion.

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).
