Good job steel. And your welcome Dyl, I've been to many competitions and the stress is there about playing good, do you have everything,etc......, it's a hassle.
Well, tragedy has struck my band. Two of the band members have gotten into a car accident on sunday night. The saxophone player is doing alright he came down to visit Jazz 1 and wasn't doing to good ...........but..... the trumpet player who was the driver....got killed. He was an amazing (almost prodigy amazing) trumpet player. But the worst thing is the sax. player and the trumpet player are twins. Also the band had just gotten back from Colorado, he hasn't been to school yet to play in band, or see his friends, especially his girl friend.
This Saturday I'm going to the RCC Jazz Festival in Riverside. The songs Jazz 2 are gonna play are "How High the Moon", "How Insensitive", and last but not least "Chameleon". Jazz 2 is just okay.
News from symphonic band: We have received new pieces a couple of weeks ago. We are going to play "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves", "Armenian Dances", the first movement of "William Byrd Suite", "Music Man", and "American Overture for Band". All are great pieces. I play the timps on "Armenian Dances" which is a blast because the majority of the piece is in 5/8 time lol.
Jazz 2 went off with a bang! This was the best we've ever have played. Even the previous band director, who is a music critic, said we did good from him knowing our past.
Jazz 1 did excellent also, it's just a drag that the acoustics sucked in that room. They sucked so bad, a guy in one of the pieces played a shaker and was louder than the drum set. All the bass instruments: trombones, bass, and bari sax were absorbed and could hardly hear them. Drag.

Right after memorial day is our concert. We are going to play American Overture but it isn't going to be easy. WE are opening with Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, and going to end with Armenian Dances.
For the piece Silver Quill, and Irish Melodies will be directed by the previous director we had and after that he is going to retire.
Hey there TN, just as a reminder if you are in a band/choir of any kind (I am now going to include rock bands because thats music also) please contribute your musical interest to the Musical Chronicle.
At 7:00 pm my band had it's end of the school year concert, and man o man, we were smoking in the freezing night. Also I'd like to wish a farewell and a happy retirement to our previous band director, Mr. Tower, for he was a guest conductor for tonight.
The only thing I am working on is some Piano music.
Bach: Toccata and Fugue
Sonic 1: Starlight Zone, credits
Sonic 2: Credits
Poke'Mon Red Blue and Yellow: Main Titles, Route 1, Elite 4
Poke'Mon Gold Silver and Crystal: The Champion Theme
Age of Empires 2: Main Theme
Aladdin (Sega Genesis version): The Rug Ride
Final Fantasy 7: Aerith's Theme, One Winged Angel
It is alot to work on, but it'll be fun.
So for now, CG25

Well, yesterday was an exciting day.
First, I got my All-State music for All-State Camp next weekend. America the Beautiful (Ward) Battle Hymn of the Republic (Wilhousky) A Boy and a Girl (Paz/Whitacre) I Gondolieri (Rossini/Jennings) Rainbow 'Round My Shoulder (De Cormier) Careless Carols (Rindfleisch) Gaudete Omnes (Sweelink/Bjella)
Later, I got an email containing this year's Varsity Show Choir set, which is going to be SO much fun! Let it Sing/On My Way (a combo piece - both songs are from the musical Violet) Spinning Wheel ("What goes up/Must come down...") Take this Moment (the ballad - I honestly can't find this anywhere) Sway (Michael Buble) Let's Dance (our closer - this song is completely ridiculous, you have no idea)
Needless to say, I'm pretty excited for clinics to start in a couple weeks.
That sounds pretty exciting steel. Is your clinic going to be doing all that dancing? If so that would be cool. Where is your clinic going to perform at, anywhere special?
I play trombone in my school's Wind Ensemble (top Band of 4), Marching Band, Jazz Band, and hopefully I will have time to join my school's Winter Percussion Ensemble this year, because last year they got bumped up a class and were still .05 points away from making it to WORLD Finals. The year before (When they were in the lower class) they made it and were (I think) Runners-up. But anyway, my Marching Band starts Band Camp in 4 days. 8-5, 2 weeks. Like a frickin job!
I hope to be first chair in the Wind Ensemble this coming year, like I was last year. The only problem is that I don't want to seem like an a$$hole because I'll only be a Junior and the rest of section are Seniors, so I don't want to challenge them, because my school (or at least the band program) is big on seniority and they don't like it when younger people challenge older ones. But whatever. Seating Auditions are early, and you have no choice in that matter, so I'll be fine if I beat the crap out of them during that.
