| | | Comcast? In the near future, I'm likely to get comcast for our cable, internet and phone service. It's our only option for cable in the building we're in so we couldn't go with any dish service which is what I'd prefer. So I'm just curious to hear some opinions on Comcast's service for the three services (cable, net, phone).

| | | I have the "Triple Play". Dont know if they use different names in different areas, but its the phone,tv,internet thing. I dont need the house phone.. But I have it. As far as the TV goes I just have the basic one. I dont really watch much TV or more than 5 or 6 stations anyways. The internet is great. I never have downtime with it, ever.

| | | My friend has the Comcast Triple Play. They had an issue with the phone service at one time. It seemed only fair that in the Northeast Verizon be allowed to offer television service as well. Philadelphia is Comcast Country. We already have Verizon phone, DSL, and Comcast Basic at my house. I'm 2/3 Verizon so I'm curious about their TV offerings.

| | | I used to have Comcast when I lived with my parents. Its a great service, though it had more downtown than it should for that price.

| | | It's interesting how about 10 years ago I read locally about Comcast acquiring the AT&T internet division and how that would really change the game. That's where they are today. I noticed they're big in Detroit; grown a bit by taking over the failed Adelphia Communications. I don't think they have a big presence in NY with Time Warner and Cablevision there. Cablevision is lingering as the 5th largest US cable provider. Do you guys have your own Comcast Sportsnet channel like we do in Philly? It's the flagship and not on satellite unfortunately. In NYC it's called Sportsnet New York. I could tell its Comcast by their layout.
Did you guys meet the Slowskys (the turtle husband and wife)?

| | | Yeah, we have our own local Comcast sports channel. I would think that nost of the big markets with Comcast would have a dedicated Comcast sports channel.

| | | I have 2/3 of the triple play, as I have my phone with Vonage. Once the promo period is over, Vonage offers a much cheaper unlimited telephone service than Comcast (24.99 vs 39.99) I believe.
I've had Vonage for about a year, and have never had any problems. We don't use the house phone much, so I have the limited plan with 500 outbound minutes/unlimited inbound. We also have a "virtual" number to match our York, PA surroundings, but also have a Baltimore, MD so family in the 410 area code can call us toll-free. All of this with taxes cost $26.15/month.
