Extreme Terror Rides.

Finally a new coaster show. Its still on right now on the Travel channel and will air again sometime in the late hours.

Anyway it was so nice to finally see a new coaster show and it even showed Firehawk & Fahrenheit.

I really only found one problem with the show but it was small. Anyway they were talking to a HP manager/ceo or whatever he was and they were talking about roller soaker and he said it's the only one of its kind in the world.

Now i would expect park guest or even media to get that wrong but there was no excuse for him not knowing about others.

If you are going to make the statement that its the only one in the world do some research first. Thats all i ask.

Ahhh, haha. I was changing channels and I saw this was on. I'm watching it as well too. Generally, all of it's new, some stock footage like usual, but not a bad show, though the guy with the goggles on Kingda Ka is a bit much.

It's part of a new Travel Channel series titled, "Extreme" that takes a look at different 'extreme' things. "Extreme Water Parks" will be on August 13th and "Extreme Sea World" airs August 27.

Extreme: TV Shows

I know that was hilarious. I'm going to go to like Dollywood and ride Thunderhead with goggles on and see what people say lol. If anyone asks me any questions, I'll be like "I'm wearing these goggles to protect my eyes from the speeds of 60 mph" lol.

LOL. Just make sure i don't see you cause i'll call you out in front of everyone!

I can only imaging what the rider beside him was thinking. I'll bet when he goot off the ride he died laughing.

That was also the first time i had even seen Fahrenheit in action.

I only hope more new shows come along in the future. If they need help that bad i'll be more than welcome to host them.

My buddy called me a little while ago and told me he saw my daughter on the Firehawk at Kings Island in Cincy. Going to have to tape the 1am show and check it out. Small world!

It was a good show...I'll be watching it again at 1 AM!

As for that guy.....yeah, that was funny. But 100 Rides on Kingda Ka is cool.

Me and everyone in my crew will have a special tribute for him at Cedar Point in a few weeks...we'll all ride Top Thrill Dragster with Goggles on, haha.

Heck yes! I wanted to do this all the time. I tried writing a company once about this but it was sent to the wrong address. I am an Aviation Photographer & Photo Journalist for an ARCP Production Company and I am also an actor so all that kind of fits in my interests (although I will be a Fighter & Airshow Pilot one day). But in the meantime that could be something to do.

We should write them and see if they need some hosts for some rollercoaster shows. Or we could make our own and see what they think...haha.

Anyone up for it?

I mean, think about it...it could be called "The Coaster Crew" or something cool like that......haha

You know i am. I wrote a letter to Discovery Channel after they came to Carowinds in 2004 and filmed a show about coasterphobics.

That was alot of fun doing that show and would love to do more.

Haha, lets do it then. We all have what it takes to be hosts.

And of course we're what people would call "Ride Warriors"...we aren't afraid.

We could be called "The Fearless Bunch", haha.

I can't wait for this show to come on again...only a half-an-hour, I missed the first half last time so yeah....

I'm about to watch it again as well but only to get the guys name from HP who said Roller Soaker was the only coaster of its kind in the world.

It just disgusts me to see that people who are larger than me fit on fahrenheit and to know that I wont fit on because I have broad shoulders. They dont make rides for people that are over 200 lbs. Im watching the 1AM showing, and I know that me at a stable 290, ride operators tell me i will fit on, 325 lb Women get on rides, and I dont. It just sucks to be such a fan and to know that I wont be able to go on any of these rides, except maybe roller soaker.

I agree. Coaster designers should start thinking about makeing taller & wider seats or wider harnesses.

Some coasters do offer larger seats for a wide varity of guests but the majority of them do not.

Some coasters even have height restrictions meaning if your like 7ft tall or more you can't ride but i don't think many have that restriction. I think its mostly stand-up coasters.

SLC's have that restriction. 80" MAX on "Thunderhawk" at Michigan's Adventure. I can understand this though.

I agree about bigger seats & harnesses. While at Michigan's Adventure a few weeks ago, while waiting in line for "Wolverine Wildcat" a lady could not ride because she was to big. The Ride Ops tried and kept trying to have the restraints work, they actually tried for almost 5-7 minutes, but they couldnt get it and this poor lady had to get off the ride and just walk to the exit. I felt really bad about this, and I was quite sad about it. All she wanted to do was ride the ride. Then my friend made the point that Rollercoasters are discriminatory against Big People....and I agree.

In addition to that thought,
I noticed that the "Lead Engineers" kept claiming the wrong statistics.

I also noticed PR people saying "we designed it this way", when the manufacturer did the designing.

Do the engineers get any credit outside of the coaster enthusiast community?

A show with all TNer's would be cool. Maybe we could do raffles or compititions to see who gets to go to a certain park and be the guest rider for that park along with whoever the host(s) may be.

Most of the regulars should be able to do it. Listen. I am a big man, I largely only really care about my home park, Michigan's Adventure. But I read alot and care alot about what you guys write and discuss on here then I lead on to.

After watching again there was a few more funny things i didn't notice the first time like calling the Vekoma flyer cutting egde technology. It was cutting edge about 8 years ago.

Too bad they didn't show the guys name from HP.

TNer's hosting coaster shows would be an awesome idea. Maybe we should pitch the idea to Discovery/Travel Channel.

Frankly I didn't think the show was that good.

Hershey claimed all that garbage about them having the only water coaster, which we know is a lie.

Fahrenheit just doesn't look that great to me. It looks slow and rather boring.

The Firehawk footage was terrible. All we saw was that guy freaking out. I wanted to at least see footage of the ride! Although, I've been on Batwing, which is the same layout of course.

They spent way too much time on bungey rides and such, and those have been around for 10 years!

Cedar Point always gets the spotlight in these shows, and it's getting annoying.

CP is not the best park out there, and just because you have 17 coasters doesn't make you great. *ducks the fanboys*

I also almost hate these shows now, because they always get some geek that's all "THIS ROLLER COASTER GOES 15.7 MPH!! WOOHOO! I'VE RIDDEN IT 5,578,515 TIMES!!! AND I'M GOING TO TALK ALL THE WAY THROUGH THE RIDE AND GET ON YOUR LAST FREAKIN' NERVE!!!"

I agree. I thought way too much time was spent at the buney place. I did however like the ride where you have no line, they just drop you. I would like to be dropped alot more than 100ft though.

I finally read through most of this thread and wanted to comment on the "bigger seats" comment.

This to me is probably never going to happen.

Most coasters these days are built/designed by eastern European companies, where weight issues aren't issues. You will be hard pressed to find 300lb people in Europe, it's just not that common. Whereas America and Australia are the two fattest countries, and I think the problem is really with us, and not the manufacturers.

Now, if you have wide shoulders or bigger legs (like I do), then maybe they should give a little credence to that.

But most coaster trains are built for your average person, well average for most of he world but America.

I just figured that if I wanted to ride coasters, I was going to have to lose weight. I've lost 50lbs, and haven't been denied a coaster since.

I completely agree with Wes, no one in naturally 300lbs. You can loose weight.

Now if you are someone like a body builder, then that is different.

Going back to what you said earlier Wes. I agree about the people talking on coasters. Its really annoying.

I guess when we start our shows here we will not be talking on the ride. Goggles are optional....lol

Wes, why do you complain about Cedar Point being in a coaster show? They pay big money for all their coasters to get mad media attention. They have the first coaster to break 200, the first to 300, and the first to 400.

They deserve the credit 100% in my opinion.
