There was an interesting article on CNN this week about Guitar Hero possibly being the savior of the rock industry. It made a good case for it. Basically a new generation is discovering these bands from the 70s and 80s because they are playing their songs in the games.
No one I know "discovered" any classic bands by playing the games. If someone didn't know who these bands were before they played Guitar Hero then they've led a very sheltered life.
Well it's like when The Sopranos had the Journey song "Don't stop believin'" on the final episode, sales on iTunes went through the roof for that song. Primarily people that purchase music online are 30 and younger I would guess. So it seems likely that many of the younger crowd wouldn't know a song such as Mama Kin by Aerosmith.
Although I hate the people who just buy single songs on iTunes from Guitar Hero/Rock Band and listen to them. It is true. My 13 year old sister knows who Kansas, Guns N Roses, and Boston are now.

Look at Through The Fire And Flames on GH3, the intro...NOT GUITAR! They also chart the synth a lot in that song. Activision needs to realize that this is GUITAR Hero, so they should chart only GUITAR.
As opposed to Brainpower, which of course is all guitar, right?

Any particular reason why GHWT (or Aerosmith, I guess, if you're gonna include 80s) isn't included in that?
I didn't really include any of the DLC since not everyone can Download the songs. I was pretty much going with what is available no matter what.
The song amounts are pretty much going to be even anyway since people are going to always be creating songs and having them available for download.
Let me tell you right now, that song creator is going to turn out to be crap, because this is all you're going to see when you go into GH Tunes... Crap like this...

Yes, there are dumbasses out there wo will do nothing but create this crap, but I think you'd be suprised how many people still care about musicianship and the integrity of the game.
Don't think I'm some nerd who does nothing but play RB. I have a real band and play real guitar, real drums, real bass, and sometimes even real vocals! (That's not pretty). Anyway, GH is really pissing me off now, let me ask this...
Who would want multiple songs from a band as on-disc content? I think that's stupid, just release it as DLC.

^Your opinion is rather biased I would say, considering you are an active member on the Rockband website(unless someone else is named xbadx1233 and is dying for some more Muse)Not that you aren't entitled to it. I just think it's biased.
I have both on reserve, but with school, college applications, band practice and piano practice for college auditions, I'm not sure if it's worth it considering how little I'll have to play. I still will, but not the 2+ hours I used to clock in daily(sad I know). But I will say a music based game is great. Sorry to all those who think it's time better spent on a real instrument. It's just a video game in the end that's supposed to be for fun, not as a substitute.

Yes, it is biased. The thing I was trying to do though was to see what a community outside the Rock Band forums would think when they are given the choice between these two games. Yes. I will definetly play GH:WT, but it will probably be at a friend's house, and you know what? If it's really that good, I might try to cram another guitar and drumset into my basement. I, right now, am just not expecting the quality that Harmonix gives with RB in GH. I think the notecharts for all instruments will be designed to make things more difficult than they really should be (3's &7's would be a victim of this, for sure.)
