So I got Rock Band 2 for Christmas, it's the first music/rhythm game I've ever had and I am having a hard time making the jump from Medium to Hard. It's to the point where I am basically bored playing Medium as I can 99% or above pretty much every song, but when I go to hard I can only do the easy song successfully. Any tips to help make the jump?

I am a long way from Hard on the drums so I'll worry about that later haha.

The addition of the fifth button, I can't figure out whats better, trying to hit it with my pinky (which i suck at), or moving my entire hand (then I get my finger all confused when moving back etc.), couple that with more notes and them coming faster and I = Fail.

I'm the exact same way, I've been having trouble with hard for awhile now.

Pointer to both green and red, middle to yellow, ring to blue and pinky to orange is generally the easiest way of getting through songs on Hard. Work out the easy songs at first, and if you're stuck, work on 4/5/Gold starring the ones you have beaten.

Learn to stretch the pinky. If you ever decide to learn to play for real, you'll be a step ahead

I always start out with my index finger on red. I can always stretch it back to green. Instead of stretching a little finger which is a pain in the ass, I just use the fore finger, where I know it is more dominant. It takes awhile to get used to, but it's much easier.

I just slide my hand down the neck. I find it much easier than stretching my finger.

^I do that too. Mainly because my fingers just won't move fast enough.

I slide my hand back and forth depening on the song.

Some songs it's easier just to keep your index finger on red and then slide up to green when you need it.

It's strange how easy Expert is on World Tour compared to the other two. Aerosmith and GHIII definetly feel like expert when you play those.

That's what I've found with most instruments (Clarinet anyone?). Finger stretching is essential.

I got Rock Band 2 over the weekend and it's really not that different.

There is more of a story, it's more complex and you can hire staff and such but it's really not that different to me.

The guy at GameStop was all "yeah, it will work with Guitar Hero controllers, but IT'S NOT THE SAME EXPERIENCE!!".

Wow, not the same experience? Really? The only difference is there are no solo keys on my guitar. Wow. I feal so cheated.

He also told me, and now I wonder how true it is, that they are going to release a Beatles Rock Band. That would be freakin' awesome!!!

I've been hearing about the Beatles Rock Band for awhile. It should be a lot of fun, it will probably get my parents to try it.

I did some more digging, and there was an official release back in October, but nothing has been announced since.

Metallica GH will be out the end of March.

I'm thinking I like the song selection a lot more in Rock Band 2 than World Tour at this point.

I just unlocked Kansas - Carry on..., AC/DC - Let there be rock and Ratt - Round and Round last night.

I'm considering getting Guitar Zero for Lori for Valentine's Day. She's wanted it for a while. As long as the controller doesn't get in the way of my real guitars, I guess it's OK

It's funny how much stuff is out now for the games like guitar stands, mike stands, etc.

I even saw a really fancy foot stool ($200) that you can put your drums, guitars, etc in.

I guess so if you are embarrased when your neighbors come over.

Has anyone gotten the cymbal expansion for the RB2 drums? Is it worth the extra money? Does it add anything to the game or make it more realistic?

^I don't have it, nor have I specifically played the RB2 Cymbal expansion, but I have played with the ION kit and its cymbals definitely add a sense of realism. That's really all.
