Yes. It had to be done. A thread had to be started that brought up the single greatest dispute in the music game genre. Like previous disputes (Pirates or Ningas, Apple or PC, Communism or Capitalism, Union or Confederate, American or British) This is an epic question where everyone must choose sides (Okay, I guess you could ride the fence, but really!).

I was never too big of a fan of rock band. I played everything on the game, but I just did not like it as much as Guitar Hero. Yes, I found the drums pretty cool, but they are pretty loud and its not really that realistic.
Yes, I know you can purchase extra cymbals for the drums when Rock Band 2 comes out, but its an extra fee. The only thing with the Guitar Hero set is that it was designed to feel more like a real drum set. What they really need to do, with both systems, it be able to move the bass pedal around more than just directly under the set. You leg hurts after a while, unless its just me, since I have a drum set and I am just used to the pedal being else where. They also need a double bass pedal, but that is just my own option I would prefer
Both systems do have a good set list. It seems though that Guitar Hero's would be more of an "unlimited" list, since you can create other songs, upload them, and download them.
Like every game it has its ups and downs, but I guess I just prefer the Guitar Hero series.
Probably both.
I plan on buying Rock Band soon anyways, and since I'll have the drums then, all I'll need are the games.
Both have pretty sweet track lists with a few of the same songs.

You can! We have with our version. We don't have the Wii, but we do have the PS2 version. Though the older versions of GH don't work with the GH3 guitar, we found that out the hard way. Bastards.

I'm planning on getting Guitar Hero for my Wii with my Christmas money.
Try playing GH3 with a Wii remote if you want it to be more challenging. That's the way I have to do it because I personally don't have a guitar for it yet.(It's a long story)
You see, my problem with GH is that they overchart the songs worse than crap. This makes me not like the song anymore cause it's not fun to play.
Look at Through The Fire And Flames on GH3, the intro...NOT GUITAR! They also chart the synth a lot in that song. Activision needs to realize that this is GUITAR Hero, so they should chart only GUITAR.
Rock Band does way better at this, considering the charts feel way more natural. The RB version of the following songs are way better on all instruments...
3's and 7's
Kool Thing
My Curse
Heir Kommt Alex
Number of the Beast
Reptilia
Sabotage
Peace of Mind
When You Were Young
Mississippi Queen
Paranoid
The best part is that Rock Band offers way more songs than GH, actually, more songs than the entire GH series has ever had (Yes, more than GH 1, 2, 80s, AND 3) put together

You should do some research before saying that.
Rock Band came with a total of 58 tracks.
Rock Band Volume 1 Track Pack came with 20 songs.
Rock Band 2 has 84 songs, which includes the bonus songs. Add on the 20 more that is being released this fall that can be downloaded, that is 104 songs for the Rock Band 2.
58 + 20 + 104 = 182
Guitar Hero came with 47
Guitar Hero 2 came with 64
Guitar Hero: Rock The 80s came with 30
Guitar Hero 3 came with 74
47 + 64 + 30 + 74 = 215
That number does not include the 41 from the Aerosmith title released not to long ago and the 85 songs that will be released with Guitar Hero World Tour.
Overall, both games have a great set list. The ones posted for Guitar Hero in the 1st post is not the entire set list for the game. Its only 40 out of 85.
My girlfriend has Rock Band 2 pre-ordered and I have Guitar Hero pre-ordered. I just enjoy plying the games and the songs they offer.
Your "research is very wrong. You missed the whopping 197 (will be 205 on Tuesday) songs available as DLC. On top of that, DLC is released every week, so that number will only grow
So thats 58(RB1)+197(DLC)+84(RB2)=approx. 340
Pwned! You should do some research befpre challenging what I already know lol
Here is the 197 songs to enlighten you...I'm sure there are many songs that you would like...
