What's Your Favorite Music?

I love country music and lately ive been into Randy Houser’s music for some time now and really dig his new stuff on his Anything Goes album. Yesterday one of my friends was telling me that his video for Anything Goes is going to be on CMT’s Powerpicks tomorrow at 10am EST and people can vote for it when they watch it so just wanted to rally up some support for one of my favorite country artists that’s all.

I like a little bit of everything. Country, Pop, very little rock & classical.
Musicals are mainly my favorite type of music.

RENT, Wicked, Lion King, Phantom, Hairspray & Chicago are by far my favorite musicals.

I am a classical music nerd - especially vocal, sometimes orchestra or piano. Right now my favorite kind of music is everything Eric Whitacre has ever written. We are singing A Boy and a Girl in Chamber Choir right now and I'm getting an octet together to do Sleep for small ensemble contest this spring. If you have even the slightest interest in choral music, you need to check out Eric Whitacre. Find a recording of Sleep somewhere (there are about a hundred on YouTube). You will be blown away by the Soprano I g# at the climax about three minutes in. I get chills just thinking about it.

When I'm not into classical, I'm probably into showtunes. My favorite shows are Into the Woods and Wicked. I could go for anything Sondheim - I particularly like Sweeney Todd (stage, not movie), Company, and Assassins.

^ you're not a nerd, Steel- you've got taste. Classical music is awesome. I love it, too.

Of course, I like most kinds of music. I love good Rock and Roll, especially blues rock. Pretty much everything before grunge.

I also love reggae, calypso and soca. Throw in some jazz, straight out blues, plenty of R&B, and older rap. (no love for the gangsta stuff, though)

I also love REAL country music. With very few exceptions, the pop crap that they pass as country these days is slightly less melodic than cats mating. Give me real country music- bajnos and fiddles.

Yeah I got a Classical side to me as well. My favorite composer, believe it or not, is Richard Strauss (But not Johann Strauss). One of my favorite pianists is Philip Glass, he's amazing.

My favorite genre would probably be Alternative Rock at the moment, but it always alternates. I also like some brands of Hip Hop and Rap, but definitely not radio Rap.

I PMed Patty to see if she's real.

I like alternative, local rock, and actually Christian to mix it all up.

What would make you think otherwise? She's made other posts.

As for me, I like rock, mostly hard rock and heavy metal. Although the newer, mainstream rock is crap. I also like blues, swing, and some classical.

I'm pretty sure we've already talked about this too...

My iPod is full of 80s rock-pop/classic rock/Christian music (mostly from the 80s and some 90s).

I do have a few indie bands a follow now, mostly cause I have friends in them.

I'm going to a CD release party tomorrow!

I will listen to almost anything, except extremely hardcore rock, and rap.

I love old school rap, some country, and about anything else I'll listen to if it's good.

Guitar Hero really showed me there has been some decent rock the past decade, but not all of it. Just some of it, which is more than I thought.

Most rock now sounds so generic and sounds all the same to me. Same goes for most Christian music.

Ditto. I mostly listen to the classic hits alternative station and modern/hits rock so the Christian comes to me as a new alternative for me when I'm bored. I don't really dig but listen sometimes to the members supported college more indie University of Pennsylvania station. That's just not my kind of station so it's only worth a song or two for me.

I like mainstream rock and some pop/R&B. Other than that, I like some 80s rock, and some other random songs but thats pretty much it... I don't like a huge array of music, my iTunes library is only about 300 songs.

Probably because you only scratch the surface. Rock has so many sub-genres, different sounds (Such as the sounds of Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine), and a lot of different styles.

If you're talking radio rock or Nu-Metal than yeah, they do sound generic. When I first heard Evanescence on the radio I swore it was Linkin Park with a guest singer.

I do like a lot of genres.

Being a string player, I am totally into classical music. Big Bombastic Classical Music gets me all hyped up, but then again Greensleeves and Canon in D does it too. Piano is good too. Favorite string player is Itzak Perlman.

I love old school stuff from the 70's to the 90's from pop to rock. Even back into the 50's and 60's. My mom got me listening to the stuff. Great tunes!

Country, turns me off. Twang just doesn't get me. The pop-country. BLEH! Very few country songs I like let alone the genre. Hard core rap too. I just am not into the stuff. Though the Linkin Park vs Jay-Z album was the schizzle.

I have so many different tastes. My I-Pod has about 6 days of music in it. From John Denver to Nickelback to Michael Buble', to Elvis. You name it, I got it.

Alternative Rock (including rap-rock), Pop Rock, Hard Rock, Adult Contemporary, R&B, Smooth Jazz, and Soft Rock.

My all-time favorite band will always be the former Australian duo Savage Garden (sadly disbanded years ago, but their music will remain with us forever).

As far as Alternative music goes, I like Linkin Park, Green Day, Nickelback, Evanescence, Coldplay, Avril Lavigne, and Puddle of Mudd. I think Evanscence might also be considered metal as well.

Hard Rock, I like Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Stone Temple Pilots.

I like some R&B as well. I liked Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds, Toni Braxton, Usher, and Destiny's Child.

I am a huge pop/AC music listener. I love Vanessa Carlton's piano-focused music as well as Norah Jones' smooth, relaxed music.

There is a new wave of pop/R&B stars that have had breakouts -- especially from overseas -- in the last couple of years, like Delta Goodrem (Aussie), Colbie Caillat, Natasha Bedingfield (British), Leona Lewis (also British), Karmina (Hawaiian), Katy Perry, and Sarah Bareilles. Pop music has been reborn better than ever.

And let's not forget the 1980s. Tears For Fears, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, and Simple Minds just to name a few.

I think there is a string arrangement of Eric Whitacre's "October" out there somewhere. Even if you can only find the band version, it's seems like something you would like.
IMO, Choir>Orchestra>Band>Solo Voice.
