Sound card help (and speakers, perhaps)

Alrighty...I am constantly replacing stuff on my new computer as it grows old from my first PC. I still have the ROM drives working, as well as the floppies (3.5 and ZIP-250), keyboard and mouse. I come to the tech-savvy people of TN for advice on a new sound card and perhaps speakers.

All I know, is that I have a Soundblaster Live card and 2.1 speakers. Price right now is not a concern, but I don't want to spend more than $100 for a sound card. I do a lot of music listening and DVD watching. My top gaming is RCT2, GTA series and soon to be Age of Empires III. So sound really isn't a priority as such.

For speakers, as I said, 2.1. I would like to upgrade to a 5.1 or 6.1 set for a reasonable price.

Get the SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS, around 100 bucks and amazing quality. For speakers, if you dont want to pay a lot, get a Logitech 5.1 set, I have it and its pretty good.

Exactly what Raptor said. I have his exact same setup, it isn't as good as my system in my car but it comes pretty close. It is amazing for any type of gaming. And also to be specific on the speakers, they are the Logitech X530 I believe, or somewhere around that number. I think you can get the audigy 2ZS for around 70-90 on Newegg and the speakers for 40-50. Great prices and you will not be dissapointed by any means.

I have the $25.00 Live version card and it works fantastic http://www.pcdirectsource.com/Item.cfm?ID=148 and has plenty of sound. 3D games are a blast.

I currently have a set of Altec Lansing 5.1. $99.00 at walmart.
The Altec speakers and the Live sound card have better sound than my high quality home stereo.

Your every electronical problem solved. That's where my kick ass computer came from. Grate stuff, just search it up and see what tickles your taste buds. Even 'System Max' does custom built computers, so if you’re looking to upgrade your gaming experience at the same time your buffen out that new speaker system then give them a holler.

P.S. - The new "The Cell' processor (the hardcore brain of the ps3) is to hit the public market soon. So if your craving on a price drop on computers wait until "The Cell' take's over the minds of 'computer nerds' . Meaning myself.

I don't recomend the Sound Blaster Live! card, I had it before and it did not work right. Go with the Audigy.
