well they have 4 or 5 photos it looks like that car on the ground was on the track in a few photos.. my guess is when they were getting riders off they had to take the car shell off.

How does that happen? I heard 35 people injured. I hope no one is hurt too severley (sp?). Disney needs to start taking better care of their rides.

This is getting serious about Disney. I'm starting to get worried about going to another Disney park.

More news on it...

Quote:
Two trains on the California Screamin' ride at Disney California Adventure bumped into each on Friday evening, leaving at least 60 riders with minor injuries.

The accident occurred just before 6:45 p.m. as one of the trains was coming was ending its ride and hit a second train that was loading passengers, said Michael Simpson, dispatcher for Metronet, which covers the Anaheim Fire Department.

Most of the injured complained of neck and back pain and some were being sent to local hospitals. Simpson said initial reports indicated that there were no serious injuries.

California Screamin' is one of the more popular rides at California Adventure. The ride is shaped too look like a silhouette of Mickey Mouse's head.

No it looks like it's off the track in one of those pictures. Just crashed into eachother.

I love how he promotes the ride after such an accident.

So much for the happiest celebration on earth.

It basically looks like a repeat of the incident at SROS at SFNE back in 2001.

What is wrong with disney? They need to learn safety, or at least figure out how to work their computers.

Just think of how many people were sueing before this accident. That number just trippled.

Disney seems to be haveing some serious safety issues the last 2 years and if this keeps up who knows what might happen next. We could see another accident or more before the year is over.

Hmm, I think it must be a computer error, since the ops cannot override the blocking system. http://www.coasterquest.com/howitworks.htm click on "What prevents coaster trains from hitting together?"

Intamin will be in trouble with this one now. Kingda Ka, Top Thrill Dragster, Superman:ROS, now California Screamin'. Intamin will be in some serious trouble. I dont see to much of Intamin's rocket coasters being made anymore. After the 3 being made now they will be done for a while they just dont look handable. This is a reason also see Kingda Ka keeping the record longer then usual.

But Intamin hypers, I see going down the drain. Overall Intamin's in trouble.

It also could be Disney's problem to of handling rides. Look at how many accidents have happened. Minor or major they are still accidents and need to be prevented no matter how big or small, they shouldn't happen. Disney is looking at some serious problems if they dont handle their rides right.

What are you talking about? California Screamin' is not a rocket coaster. It is launched with LSM's. KK and TTD are very large. They are prone to have problems due to the stress from the launch. Storm Runner has never had a major problem. I am sure there are more than 3 new rockets in the works. We only know about three of them.

I was in Disneyland when this happened. We were gonna go to California Adventure but we didn't go on the train so we went on that instead. After we get off the train to go back to the hotel cause we had a early flight we saw five hlicopters hovering the park. We didn't think it was the park but when we got back to the hotel we saw the breaking news. Its amazing how the day before I was just on the ride. Also on Thrusday the purple train stalled after the launch.

I think that this is looking worse for Intamin than it is Disney, from a business prospective anyway. The GP will most likely see this as fault of Disney, but somehow I'm seeing a trend with these 'bumps' on the Intamin hypers. Lets just hope it doesn't shut them all down (or at least not for long!)!

Did the 1st train stall and the 2nd one hit it, or was the 1st train on the final brake run and the 2nd didn't stop in time?

I was waiting for Remember when this happened. There was a bunch of Helicopters in the area.

Well you got to consider that this ride hasn't got a full rehab since it opened.

^ Spam. That is just a pointless post there rachel123. Anywasy i dont think Intamin will get hert at all since rides break down time to time and the TLC messes up time to time so its disneys falt there not taking a better look at the TLC. (For those who dont knoe the TLC is the computer of the ride.)

This isn't going to hurt Disney even though I wish it would. I have no respect for them or their park. It's an overpriced piece of crap in my opinion. People will always see the name Disney, drool and the buy their overpriced ticket(s) and go into the park where they'll find a lack of rides but plenty of shops to find more overpriced stuff to buy.

If I wanna shop, I'll go to a mall. If I want a real park, I'll go to Cedar Point or one of the many Six Flags parks, basically anywhere that actually has rides and things to do. It bothers me that so many brain dead people will visit their parks and hand over all their money but yet Disney can't manage to maintain their rides and make sure they're safe. There's a problem there and it's called greed. I won't visit one of their parks until I truly feel that they care about their guests and not just what's in their wallet.

^ Your right everthing is just way to much and why would you want to pay way to much to buy more stuff that is way to much. I dont think they are very good at make sure there rides are safe i think that they just do the min of the staes standars and they say thats good. Sorry if misspelled some words. lol

I've always wondered what was so great about Disney's parks. My aunts and uncles come home from there and say "O, you got to go if you like coasters, its so great" and all that crap. I believe them for a minute, go to RCDB and then realize that their 45 years old with 8 year old kids. I think the 13-28 age group is not seen by Disney for some reason. You see it in their movies too. Of course anybody in that age group wants to see more explosions and stuff that Disney isn't too fond of.
