Free e-mail account, only $400

Yes, you read right, people are making a killing off Xbox360 e-mail accounts on ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.ca/Microsoft-Xbox-36...QQcmdZViewItem
There have been over 40 bids, the higest now at $400. This is when you know people only look at the pictures, not the descriptions. I have to admit though, the seller is very smart at playing this out. He did nothing wrong, his description clearly states
Quote:
GOOD LUCK BIDDING ON THIS UNIQUE EMAIL ADDRESS!
He's also not the only one
http://search.ebay.ca/search/search....&fsop=1&fsoo=1

People really truely are suckers.

Yep, they're just selling the free hotmail account.
The guy did a good job at making his page look professional and using pictures of the console and stating its specs. But he also stated it's just an e-mail address so if people are stupid enough to bid then they deserve to lose the $400.

Uh oh, only 2 minutes left! If you want it go bid on it!

That's really funny. And people are even falling for it! It's the Canadian eBay service. Way to go sneaky Canadians!

I'm pretty sure those are fake. Their friends are probably bidding.

Completely unbelievable. I think that is the greatest yet dumbest thing I have ever seen. I can't believe people can honestly be so stupid. I wish I had thought of that.

^There are over lots of these things going on (One on nearly every email site) and I to am a Canadian!!! Many are smart (the creator of this bid) and some are dumb (the buyer). I feel sorry for the buyer, when he finds out about what he did he is going to go BERSERK. $900 is a lot of money.

My friend is hoping to cash in on this and already made a PS3 and Nintendo Revolution e-mail in the exact image of the xbox360 one.

Things are only getting better for some people
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MESO%3AIT&rd=1
Someone just paid $450 for a computer printed list of the Xbox 360 specs. I should really start taking notes, these sellers are doing a good job of making a page and description really look like an Xbox 360 while still falt out telling people they are buying crap.

Notice that the winner of that last one doesn't have any rep though. So either he found a real sucker, or someone is playing the seller also. I'm betting it's the latter one. Which would serve them right.

Also interesting to note, ebay removed the hotmail auction and voided it. So they're working on catching these things.

Seems like this should be false advertisement in some ways, but people don't read the full text a lot of times and it's their own fault.

It isnt false advertising if the seller flat out says "you are bidding on a computer print out of the xbox 360 specs" He just did a really good job at making the product look like something else, or actually better than it is. He should go into advertising.
I bet ebay only took the e-mail one off after the buyer realized he was a complete idiot for not reading the description.
I hope they dont do the same to the computer print out, give these idiots a sense of what happens when you buy things on impulse without reading into the product....plus it would give me an opportunity to do the same with a ps3 printout...

While I agree with you that people buy on impulse without thinking, I do think it is still a bit misleading.

Although they do have in big red letters "Email only".

I think people have caught on to it now because no one is bidding on them now.

That is just hilarious! I can't believe anyone would fall for that, especially since they don't personally know the person they are getting it from. They were proffesional morons for buying.
