Coaster Draft general info and questions/comments thread

I'm looking for when to start the 2006 Coaster Draft. So if you're a member of this year's draft, let me know when you will be around to start the draft. I will try to be accomodating to as many as possible but I can't make any guarantees. As you might know, jimths08 was banned affecting the draft order. Everyone will move up one spot and apsterling will now enter the draft in the final spot of the round if he/she is still interested. I will contact this member to let them know.

Jimmy will post the revised draft order shortly.

Because we had to ban him for his actions, we also have no choice but to disqualify jimths08 from the 2006 Thrillnetwork's annual Coaster Draft; as a result, he will forfeit his #1 pick of the upcoming draft. The first pick in the 2006 draft now officially belongs to Jerry S, who previously had the #2 pic, and everyone else in the draft thereafter will move up a slot; this will also open up a slot at the #20 spot in the draft, which coasterlove will announce in a little while, since he has the official list of alternates. We feel that moving everyone up a slot and putting the first alternate at the last spot is the most fair way to deal with a sudden change, especially considering the draft has yet to begin.

If anyone of you currently in the draft are not able to participate, please let us know as soon as possible to allow more of those waiting on the alternates list to participate.

In addition, there will be no discussion of any sort about the banning of jimths08....what's done is done. However, you may discuss or comment on the draft order, propose trades, etc.

I'll be here every week but the 25-29th as I'll be riding coasters. Otherwise I'm good for any time.

Sorry, there were already at least 6, maybe 7 people on a waiting list for alternates, I believe. Apsterling was the first alternate to register. If for some reason, enough people drop out or are eliminated, etc, I'll keep you in mind.

I don't know what my exact schedule looks like yet, but it is somewhat likely that I'm heading up north to Oklahoma, Kansas, and Missouri sometime in June.

I've decided that June 1, 2006 will most likely be the starting date of the draft. Sometime today or tomorrow, I will also send PM's to everyone to let them know. I gave considerable notice that the would be starting soon and to let me know of any schedule conflicts but haven't received any mention from anyone of any. So unless I get quite a few members who say there is a problem with that date, 6/1/06 will start the draft.

Is there going to be a prize? Also, I don't think June 1 is a good idea because El Toro isn't open. We should wait till it's open so that people will know if it is good or not.

^ If I was in the coaster draft, I would agree with that statement. You should wait until all the 2006 coasters are opened.

Yes, of course. The opening of El Toro is what I was trying get at with that statement.

I might decide to hold off till Monday, June 5th. However, I don't want to wait for a long period of time for one coaster to open. I'm more concerned with everyone's schedule, including my own since I have to moderate it. The draft can take a good 2 or 3 months as many of you know. I don't want it to stretch through all of summer and possibly again into some member's school years.

If it's any concern, any coasters in the US scheduled to open for the 2006 season will be eligible for the draft at anytime regardless of whether or not it's opened. That only goes for 2006 coasters, not 2007 coasters just starting construction or announced sometime later during the draft. This also doesn't include past coasters that are SBNO or not even standing at all any longer.

Man. What a ride. That thing is the most insane coaster I've ever been on.

I'll do a trip report at some point soon, but bascially it is THE most intense wooden coaster on the planet as far as I'm concerned.

It knocked Thunderhead out of my #1 Wood spot after about the 2nd tunnel (not even half way done). lol

It's just INSANE! Whoever designed it was on crack.

I've decided on June 5th, 2006 for the start of 2006 Coaster Draft. That's next Monday so it will allow for SFGAd one more weekend to get El Toro to open even it sounds unlikely. It will also allow me a few extra days to get some stuff done and myself ready to moderate the Coaster Draft.

The 5th is no official since nobody has said otherwise that the date wouldn't work for them.
