That's not exactly true....last year, coasterlove may have let players have exceptions; but this year, he has left Andrew and me in charge of the draft and we agreed that we will not have emergency picks this year. It was even stated in my first post of the official thread, which everyone should have read before playing. Coasterlove even waited several hours for you to pick, but never did. Now all you can do is pick more wisely to make up for the missed pick.

Or he can just withdrawal, and let an alternate take his place, then they can make up the missed pick, and still give Jerry credit if they win best park? lol. Is that allowed.

Exclamation

The policy was set by Jimmy at the beginning of the game.

If he starts making exceptions now, then it will turn into a fiasco because everyone will have excusses, whether valid or not.

ALSO:

One personal request, when making your picks please type the coaster name and park in BOLD. This makes it so much easier when we're updating the master list. Thank you for your assistance.

Well I'm going to consider that a disrespect to my family AND MY RELIGION. Not a very wise thing to do for such a family friendly website.

As harsh as that (^) was, I think it's slightly on the foolish side to not allow any emergency picks. If something comes up, it comes up. There's nothing you can do about that and it shouldn't change your chances in the game. That's only fair.

It's a freaking game on the interweb!!! Yes, we know stuff comes up at unexpected times but those are the rules. Maybe we should just leave a list of picks encase we are gone for some unknown reason.

IMPORTANT NOTE -- PLEASE NOTICE: There will be NO emergency make-up picks this time unlike last year, so if you miss your chance to pick, you will forfeit that pick.

I don't know how this can be any clearer. Jimmy stated this first thing before the draft started. We are sorry you missed a pick but that is the rules. There is no making an exception this year. I will stand behind whatever decision Jimmy, Andrew and Mark make. They have made their decision. There is no appealing this.

I understand it was a religious thing you had to do, but you don't see anyone else saying something about that. If Wes had gone to church and missed his pick, it happens. I also want to point out something here. What if you had a job in the real world and you had to work but blew it off for some religious reason. You can't do that. Most places would say "See ya, you don't want to work when we tell you, bye!" You wanted to be in this draft. So take your missed pick and come up with something better the next time around.

But, you knew the rules when you came into the draft. You could have seriously, popped at very fast PM to any of the six of us and we could have made that for you.

It was way past the 24 hours. It wasn't even close. Jerry you have to get over it and make some good picks. Things happen and you can't control them.

This is just a game, you are making a huge deal out of one coaster in a coaster draft.

Let me ask you something....

There was something that came up for you earlier in the draft that kept you from making your pick personally. What did you do to address that problem?

You PMed me your list of coasters and I made the pick for you -- problem solved!

And nothing can prevent you or anyone else from sending us your list anytime you want to. You can do it even when you don't anticipate anything coming up in the near future, so when an unforseeable event that keeps you away from your computer without notice your pick is still covered. That's your only emergency right there.

Yet again I'll say that you can send one PM to all of us, you can put the following in Recipient Username(s) (copy and paste it if you'd like):

Andrew Polcyn; Brian F; Jimmy B; Katie; Wes

and all of us get it in one simple click. I've even spelled it out for you.

Also be informed that in the first three annual drafts, there was no emergency make-ups option. coasterlove did it last year out of courtesy because so many people were missing picks last year and the extended downtime threw off the whole draft. So that was just a one-time thing. This was not going to be a permanent staple of the draft.

And this is just a game just as sfft_2108 and others have said. There is no prize for winning nor awards. It's merely a popularity contest.

I agree with sfft_2108. It's just a game and we do not need to take the game outside of here and into the physical world. Rules were established to keep the flow. The game flows underneath us right now and continues. Just go with it. Last weekend I was going to be away for all of Saturday and a good portion into Sunday. I was lucky my pick came like Wednesday or Thursday. If it didn't, though I'd have pangs of laziness, at the last minute Saturday morning with a tootbrush in my mouth before I left I could have found a Jimmy or Wes post in any thread, click "Send Private Message" and just throw in two picks. Yes, I said "throw" in. I have some ideas for a top pick but I really don't need to sweat and take the game to a crazy level of seriousness. It's just a game - let's leave it alone.

I don't know how many picks we get but a six pick park can still look better than a seven pick park. Jerry, you're clever: You just have to dig some jewels. Get back into the game.

^ There are 10 rounds - 10 picks.

And guys lets let it rest and get back to the game.

Jimmy and Katie have stated the rules, let's move on.

We could make rule, it's just a suggestion, that if you miss your pick, you can't make it up untill after all the rounds are over, eventhough there won't be many good picks left then, you still get to make up your pick, I think that would be the fairest way to do it. Have a separate 11th round called "misssed picks".

I agree and I disagree. The rule that no emergency picks will be made, was put in place at the very beginning. I think we need to follow that. But with your statement, that gives them the opportunity to make up for that missed picked at the very end. Sure, none of the more valuable coasters will be left, but atleast you will be able to make it up. I don't see this coming into effect this year, because the rule was in effect that no make up picks or emergency picks will be made, but I can see this possibly going in to effect next year, if its is agreed upon the ones in charge.

I think it should stay as is.

If people got to pick at the very end, all they would have left would be dragon wagons and wacky worms. lol

I am glad that there are people out there on the internet that have less of a life than me.

Are we SERIOUSLY arguing about this?

The decision is final. It has nothing to do with religion. Jerry, you will simply have one less coaster than everyone else.

All it is is you people not respecting a religion that isn't your own. I'm sure that If I was building a new altar for a church, I'd be allowed to have the pick.

It doesn't matter. Consider me out of the draft. I don't really want to play a pointless game when those running it disrespect my beliefs.

The rules specifically state that once a coaster is chosen, it can't be re-chosen. I will allow somebody else to take over my spot though. That is allowed.

*Smacking head against keyboard*

*Repeatedly*

It has nothing to do with religion Jerry. Are you that seperated from your family that you had absolutely no clue that your brother was moving? That's what I'm getting from you. We made the rule at the start of the draft and have repeated it over and over.

Again, it has NOTHING TO DO WITH RELIGION.

It isn't your decision.

And for the record, the rule does NOT state "make up picks will be allowed, unless we want to disrespect someone's religion."

At the time you missed your pick, there were 16 posts in this thread about having someone else make your picks for you if you're going to be away. It wasn't a secret.

If you want to throw a fit, and take your toys and go home, so be it. You haven't been disrespected, no matter what you say. Your religion hasn't been disrespected, and I honestly cannot imagine a thought process that would lead anyone to think that it was. The truth of the matter, whether you're able to realize it or not, is that changing the rules to accomodate you would disrespect every other player in the draft.

I hope you reconsider leaving the draft. If you leave, you're only hurting yourself. If you do leave, hopefully you'll come back next year.

Honestly, any TN Staffer would give the same rules to anybody based on any religion, in fact, I don't KNOW about 99% of people's religion on here, if they even believe in one. If this was Ilovegod.com forums, then maybe you would have a legitimate arguement, but since this is coaster based and not really anything else (Okay, General Talk and Media Discussion) then you have 0% arguement.

I don't get why you're so sour about this whole thing, you could still be playing, but you continue to make a big deal out of it. Honestly, the more angst you toss our way, it's so far coming back bad in your return. I'd double check if arguing to us is really worth your time...

No, because last year, you let it go because somebody's cat was sick. And I can argue about something as long as I don't break the TOS. I'm not going to argue anymore though, because it's rediculous, and you all like to have the last word. I'm telling you what it looks like to me, and you all don't care. I'm out of the draft.

I will fill in for Jerry. I'm sorry you had to drop out. Now, do I stay at the same spot in the draft, or drop to the bottom? Thanks.

You take over Jerry's park and his selections are now yours. You pick in his spot.

apsterling's window has long expired and DisGardeVersal only has less than four hours to pick before it's Brian's turn.
