Well construction on SheiKra is going great. MPI has yet to release any info on the rest of the park, but they did release that SheiKra will stand 200 feet tall, one of the tallest rides in the park.

MPI also released the name of their next new coaster. It will be a B&M inverted coaster named Talon and will be absolutly amazing. But other than that there is no name for any areas in the park, or any name for the park itself.

Oh, and 2 more things. This is the land where people thought a Six flags Florida was to be built on! And finally, I will end this with some construction pictures of SheiKra as well as the proposed logo for Talon:

Because that was the tallest and fastest B&M Inverted coaster left in the draft; apsterling took my other possible choice in Riddler's Revenge, so I went with Alpengeist.

At 195 feet and 68 MPH, it is by far the shortest and slowest coaster in my park at this point.

As far as public releases go...Markham really has a handle...but can he beat me??

By the way, parking fees for D.E. Geauga Lake have been submitted...but be prepared to pay out the ass. Admission prices (yes with only 3 coasters in the park) have been set, look for those later. And unfortunately, the Big Dipper owner has yet to get back to me.

Markham Park Incorperated wants to know if Jerry S will trade for Volcano: the Blast Coaster, as we feel two coasters themed to birds (even though both are amazing) is just too much. We will also trade Leo for Kumba, Jimmy B for Alpengeist, or Martin for Apollo's Charriot! We are even willing to include the rights for the name and logo!

As for construction process, SheiKra is extremly close to being finished:

SheiKra will be ready way befor the parks opening. Well, at least hopefully!

P.S. As far as my "marketing" Andrew, I just love to do it, especially after we were told specifically NOT to for some stupid reason in a different draft I was in!

I wonder if any of you can figure out what I'm going for in my parc. And no, it really has nothing to do with U2.

This would have been the pick I would have picked up Stormrunner cause I sensed this was the last round it could drop. Martin snatched it up as a good player should. You could take from this Phillies fan this past evening. haha.

What is up with these "hidden themes" some of you claim to be putting on? I just don't see any of it.

At least last year when I experimented (in vain) with a theme, I blatantly exploited mine with the Batman/Superman coasters -- now that was a real theme right there (though I was surprised no one else had thought of that before I tried it). And some of you still couldn't even figure that out until I was done. lol

With some of you, there is just doesn't appear to be any connection or flow within your coasters or doesn't make any sense. If you're going to be putting on a theme, at least make some sense of it.

Not that I'm complaining mind you, one bright side is the harder some of you try to pick your coasters that fit your park, the more of the great coasters slip to the later rounds and available for other players like me trying to pick the best available. Last year, there were several 200-foot tall coasters available even half-way through the draft, whereas in the first two years of the drafts, all hypercoasters (and most of the 150+ footers) were cleaned out by the second or third round at the latest.

Jimmy, I figured out your theme last year, but I respected the fact that you may not have wanted it to be revealed by someone other than yourself.

As for my theme, if it's not obvious now, it will be with the next pick or two.

That's the thing, JImmy, last year's and this year's theme, especially this year's, doesn't allow me to select some of the more popular coasters. There probably won't be much of a connection with the coasters I do choose, but I hope to have more than 2 steel coasters. One of these years, I'll actually be 110% serious and try to draft the best damn park in the land.

But not this year. It is tough to build a 10 coaster park on a $50 million to $75 million restructured budget.

Andrew, actually you're one of only two players (Brian F is the other) that has been doing a great job over the years with your theme and your storyline....keep up the great work!

And those of us that were here to see the first couple of drafts....coasterlove, Wes, Andrew P, Jerry S, and myself....can attest the change in the players approach over the years. Back in the early years of the draft, every player was playing to pick the best available coasters, playing to earn votes, and playing to win. This is just another example of how the draft is evolving.

One of mine has already come and gone!

Markham Parks Incorperated has officially announced that the next coaster it will add will be Griffon. The mysterious thing about this decision is that it will be the second dive coaster and is almost identical to SheiKra , except with another dive loop, a fly over the splash area and adding an extra 5 feet to make the height 205 feet! Nobody knows how Markham Parks is going to pull this off, or what kind of park/theme this project will be, but one thing is for sure... They definitely have something, some idea that will wow the world!

Meanwhile, here are some construction pictures showing off a tiny bit of Griffon construction while SheiKra has been completed and is rumored to start testing in a week or so! Stil no word on a trade for Talon...

Well, I have a little bit of news from Markham Parks Incorperated (MPI). They have been quick to release an animated POV for the soon-to-be-built Griffon roller coaster as well as for their already built SheiKra (by the way, testing for SheiKra was reported started late last night!). They have also stated they will be revealing the site for the coaster along with their announcement for their next roller coaster. They also say they will not release a name until all roller coasters have been decided.

San Diego, CA - It seems that there might be a new theme park coming to town, being built by a yet unknown company, named Eagle Amusements. Eagle Amusements recently submitted a proposal to the city of San Diego for a new theme park, to be built about 10 miles northeast from the downtown area, midway between two major interstates, I-5 and I-15.

The name of the new park was not released to the public, however the city of San Diego responded well to the theme park, saying
Quote:
Our city has many types of entertainment, but for all day thrills, we know very well that all of our tourism goes straight to Orange and Los Angeles Counties. With an already beautiful downtown, endless beaches lining the coast, and an exciting array of family entertainments, such as Sea World, Legoland, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Zoo, we think that a theme park able to compete with Disney, Knott's, and even Universal Studios could very well keep tourists from leaving San Diego County at all during their entire vacation.
Eagle Amusements is a privately owned company operated by American based investors.

Now Markham Parks Incorporated will trade Talon to anyone for almost anything! Please!

Remember though, I will not just trade Talon for anything but pretty much so (for example, would not trade for a boomerang coaster or a vekoma SLC, etc.). Just reasonable!

I'm going to wait on a certain pick. The last Draft when I had a hunch, thought it was protected due to odds, I was wrong though.

Well, I guess I will have to find some way to work around this if there will be no one who will trade for a while, as this affects my next pick! But those who are still waiting, keep Talon in mind!

^ Welcome to Economics 101, markham2020!

You're finding out just how challenging the concept trade and economics can be, especially in real life, and this is just a game.

(AAP) - Aurora, OH - Deviant Entertainment has received word from the owner of the former Cedar Fair property, Big Dipper, that he will NOT be able to make the 45 day deadline to remove the storied coaster from the park. At a press conference today, the owner has signed the rights to this storied coaster over to Mr. Polcyn. Mr. Polcyn has assured the general public as well as Big Dipper aficionados that he will do his best to make sure the memory of this coaster remains, but did not reveal details on what that will mean.

Also at the press conference, Mr. Polcyn revealed a new, never before seen or done, way of admitting guests to the park. For the first time anywhere, a fingerprint scan system will be in place to guarantee no one tries to "cheat the system" by paying less. All potential guests will be encouraged, if they have not done so, to visit their local police station and have their fingerprints taken. This is only done for identification purposes as I.D. cards can be doctored. Anyone who has a problem with this type of identity verification will not be admitted to the park. To ensure no problems or hangups occur at the gate, please have your fingerprints taken at least 2 weeks before your visit.

Entrance fees will be as follows:
  • Persons Age 4 and under - FREE
  • Persons Age 5 to 17 (and accompanied by a responsible adult) - $20
  • Persons Age 18 to 60 - $40
  • Persons Age 61and older - $10
Season passes are not available, nor will there be discount tickets available through the likes of local stores, credit unions or Triple A.

Parking will be based on a system of how many seats are occupied in your vehicle. The current rate, which could change, is $10/seat. A mini-van carrying 5 people will cost $50 to park. There will be no free drop-offs, those wanting to do so will be charged a flat fee of $20. If Deviant Entertainment discovers drop offs are used to circumvent the high parking fees, the vehicle will be towed at the owner's expense. Deviant Entertainment is not responsible for anything lost, stolen or damaged while in the parking lot.

(The Awesome Associated Press is not related to the Associated Press. Any similarities due to reporting styles are pure coincidence.)

I don't think I want to be caught in an unauthorized area by Deviant Entertainment security force-corps.

Same here!
--------------------------------------------------------------

In other news today, we got the chance to sit down with the head of Markham Parks Incorperated to see if we could find out as much as possible about the proposed park. So far, all we know is that it will be located very close to Orlando and so far is constructing two, similar floorless diving machines which are being built mysteriously close.

Reporter: So, tell us about what you are doing over in Florida.
MPI CEO: Well, we are currently constructing a 400 acre park, which is quite large for a theme park, and will feature a very exciting collection of coasters as well as great entertainment, an amazing atmosphere, and more.
Reporter: Could you please tell us more about your collection of coasters?
MPI CEO: Well, we are trying to keep the coasters top secret until we announce them, but I can reveal that while having a quite amazing collection of coasters, we also have a few tricks up our sleaves, one of those causing a stir at the moment.
Reporter: Yes, many have been questioning this future MPI park when you decided to put in two very similar floorless dive machines. Can you tell me a little bit about that?
MPI CEO: Well yes, it is true that deciding on two dive machines was one of our tricks, but we can not reveal anything more on the special feature which will create a once in a life time chance. I can however, tell you a little bit about each coaster. SheiKra, our first pick, is a 200-foot B&M dive machine that pulls riders up a near vertical lift hill and then after holding them for 5-seconds drops them straight down into a large dive loop, another vertical drop, and a unique splash at the end. Griffon on the other hand is somewhat similar with a few differences. Griffon features a 205-foot near vertical chain lift, and after holding riders for 5-seconds, plummets them straight down 205 feet into a dive loop, then into a mid-breake run into a second dive loop. Then it goes into a unique splash, quickly circles around over that piece of track to give the riders some mist at the end.
Reporter: So, just to finish this interview, would you mind telling us anything else you would like to announce?
MPI CEO: Well, first MPI has noticed from partaking in many theme park resorts around the world many great and bad experience that we can use to our advantage. First, we will have the largest underground parking system in the world with free parking on weekdays and a $10 dollar fee on weekends, hopefully providing our guests with more money to use within the park. We will also be offering a unique system of ticketing as well as entering. Upon recieving your ticket, you will take it up to the entrance and they will scan a certain bar code on your ticket that will only be usuable throughout the certain amount of time you paid for (1 day, 2-day, etc.) and then you can entire our park. We feel if we push our guests into a certain strict mode of entering, that could turn away many visitors. Here are all of the ticketing options for our park so far:

1-Day Ticket: Adults (Ages 13 or over or 60"+) $59.99 Children ( Ages 3-12) $39.99
2-Day Ticket: Adults (Ages 13 or over or 60"+) $89.99 Children (Ages 3-12) $59.99
Unlimited Tct: Adults (Ages 13 or over or 60"+) $129.99 Children(Ages 3-12) $99.99
Season Pass: Adults (Ages 13 or over or 60"+) $139.99 Children (Ages 3-12) $119.99

Note: Unlimited entry is only valid throughout entire hotel stay.

Wow, looks like we have more news all ready! First off, Markham Parks Incorperated has announced that their next new coaster will be called Boulder Dash. It is a wooden roller coaster, will be located somewhat near Griffon, and will "fly" through an amazing forest! But due to the forested area, we will not be able to release photos of the coaster until media day which has not been anounced yet!

In other news, we do have some construction pictures of Griffon as well as pictures of SheiKra testing!
