Why not just let the replacement make the three choices at the end of the draft, so that he won't have the priority that his position would have given him but he still has at least enough coasters to compete.

It's been in the rules that the alternates gets to make up the missed picks since they weren't at fault to miss it, and if nothing else, it makes it more enticing for the alternate to fill in. Whoever is in his place -- coasterb is the next name on the standby list -- will get all three picks back that was missed by apsterling.

Sort of, apsterling would be completely out of the game, the alternate inherits all of his original picks, makes up missed picks and finishes the rest of the draft, replacing apsterling entirely.

Jeez if we played this draft like it was played in other drafts (on other sites) I had been on, it would be complete mayhem as if the person misses their pick more than once, they are disqualified and all of the picks go back into the pool! Well, that alternate has to be feeling pretty good right now with Millennium Force on his hands!

Placing the coasters back into the pool would be a horrible and also unfair idea. I got into a heated arguement about that same topic with an old member on this site. Imagine if Jimmy eliminates apsterling and then places all the coasters back in. Well, if that's the case, I'd be coming up next after Jimmy and would instantly select Millennium Force. Would that be fair, to grab a coaster like that in the 8th round before anyone else had a chance? That's why we put alternates in place and if it ever came to it like it has at least once before, any coaster(s) selected by an eliminated player with no alternate available, the coasters would be voided so to speak and would not be available unfortunately.

That's why I wish members who do sign up would would take it seriously and participate. It's always stressed that it's important to try and check the Coaster Draft daily and neccessary to at least check it no less than every other day just in case.

EDIT: WOW, we had posted just before MPI found out it was time for their announcement. Their pick seems like it might cause a bit of controversy though so we hope they are prepared. The roller coaster that they picked, Hollywood Rip, Ride, Rockit has not opened yet but then the rules were that it had to be open or schedueled to open this year, which it will in one month. No word yet on what type of roller coaster track it is, but strangely we can't make out what kind of track it looks like! They also released some concept art and the logo:







ORLANDO, FL- MPI has been very quiet for a while, probably planning on how to finish off the park. They have fianlly released some information as far as what else is planned for the parks other than coasters. Although this compitition is based on the best collection of coasters, MPI knows they need to add restaurants, shops, and other attractions to fullfill guests standards. They will be featuring a drop tower themed to a hotel gone wrong and will be named Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It will stand out as one of the many tall structures of Worlds of Adventure. The last ride they mentioned will be a water attraction called Escape From Pompeii, and will be themed to the Mount Vesuivius eruption near Pompeii hundreds of years ago with a final big drop and splash at the end. As far as entertainment goes, the first and only show so far that they have mentioned has the working title EARTH: A Nighttime Spectacular and will be similar to Illuminations except emphesizing on the different area of the park to tie into the attractions with water screens, lasers, fireworks, and more!

So far, we know Worlds of Adventure will have 9 roller coasters, but the only known ones thus far are Boulder Dash, Xcelerator, Griffon, SheiKra, and Patriot. sources tell us that although MPI had said before there would be no more B&M coasters in mind, after yet another recent trade proposition that was accepted by MPI but not replied back to has taken engineers back to the drawing boards again to come up with yet another B&M. Though MPI has said they will only hold four B&M's, so I guess we will have to wait to see what they have traded, and what they have recieved for that coaster. According to reports, the new coaster will be bigger better, and extensively themed!

I am very jelous of the graphic design talent i'm seeing this year. I unfortunately am taking a summer college class and don't quite have that kind of time right now. Maybe next year.

San Diego, CA - It's been only two weeks since Eagle Amusements revealed their plans to build a new theme park here in San Diego, and several partially constructed roller coasters already crowd the once empty plot of land. One must wonder how all of this came to be in such a short period of time. CEO Jerry Swinger had this to say; "Well, the idea has been in the works for over a year now. We didn't want to release any details to the public until after we were sure that e would recieve approval for not only the park, but everything else in it. Too often we've seen theme park concepts have to downsize because of problems with regulations."

I found that new article online, linked as an update to last week's new story, but after searching further, I found a google maps image of the possible layout of the park. This was on an unnameable roller coaster website:

The red is the outline and the assumed borders for the sections. The numbers are where I think the roller coasters will be in that section, and the blue is just a path route that I made up since I was bored.

2. Tremors
3. Viper
4. Twister
5. Volcano

Those five are known, and taken from the interview with the CEO of Eagle Amusements which occured last week.

I think that number 6 is going to be the second B&M which someone on another forum described as being blue and inverted or flying.

Numbers 7 and 8 appear to be in the same section, although I think are two different coasters, which I overheard the CEO say after the interview. My bet is that one is for families. I'm not too sure about 9 and 10. I drew them separate, because I wasn't sure if there will be nine coasters, or nine sections. The CEO announced at least eight sections, but I have the feeling that extra space will be used to a ninth sections.

I'm pretty sure a GCII is coming to the park, but I'm not sure which of those last four sections it is, although I think it might be in nine, as that space will best showcase it from the parking lot and the road.

Finally having been to Holiday World for the first time last week may affect my future drafts. Finally I can say something about them. I might consider The Legend but I highly doubt using any of the other coasters. hehehe

(Associated Press) - Kent, OH - The F.B.I. has now gotten involved investigating death threats against Deviant Entertainment mogul, Andrew Polcyn. Death threats have come to him via email, U.S. Mail and an array of harassing phone calls. Mr. Polcyn thinks the intentional burning of Geauga Lake's beloved Big Dipper (for the purpose of fire training) is what brought about these highly irrational mailings and calls. He has gone to local media outlets to plead his case as to why the coaster had to go, but no one is listening. Throughout all of this, he managed to secure a hybrid coaster for the park. Hybrid coasters are those that are either a steel track with wooden supports, or wooden track with steel supports. This coaster is of the former. Mr. Polcyn has said that the last coaster he is bringing in will most likely be steel, but plans for that can change. He is reportedly in talks with S&S/arrow, Intamin and Morgan.

However, as the firestorm surrounding Mr. Polcyn grows bigger, Geauga Lake itself is looking more colorful than it did under the Six Flags/Cedar Fair umbrella. Mr. Polcyn has brought 15,000 jobs to the area, with people as far away as Hawai'i applying for jobs. He has announced that guests will only encounter the elements as they walk from ride to ride. All ride queues will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology designed to keep the guests cool and comfortable.

Geauga Lake received word today that Will Koch WILL be at the park for its Grand Opening. In the past, Mr. Polcyn and Koch have butted heads, but the main issues seem to be a thing of the past as Koch and Mr. Polcyn have apparently buried their hatchet. Also a surprise guest appearance will be Mark Shapiro of Six Flags. One would think he'll be there for the same reason as Dick Kinzel, as a guest, but with the status of Six Flags, you never know.

Mr. Polcyn has also released a preview of drink items available in the park. All sodas sold will be decaffeinated. It will also be an alcohol free area, as well as a non-smoking park. Anyone caught trying to puff will meet the same fate as line jumpers. The only "energy" drinks sold will be that of Powerade and Gatorade.

I would love to go to any park with no alcohol and no smoking, but I would be watching all of my surroundings very closely just in case someone decides to line jump and one of the gun men miss and hit me instead!

4!? I'm interested to see these selections. Depending on what game you're playing you could very much get in the thick of this. With less people playing and more themes present there are some interesting choices out there this year.

Press Release - from the morning White House press conference with Secretary Robert Gibbs, June 17, 2009.

Due to the banruptcy filing of Six Flags and the dissapearance of apsterling, the Park Manager of the major Washington D.C. staycation destination, Six Flags America, which has been demolished as part of the bankruptcy filing; President Obama, in conjunction with the office of Washington D.C. Mayor Fenty, have appointed the amusement park enthusiast known as coasterb as Thrill Czar for Washington DC, being the sixteenth Czar appointed by the new President. Despite obvious security issues, the combined governments have given coasterb land grants near other DC tourist attractions to build whatever he wishes. Also, despite the ever growing national debt, the US Congress gave coasterb financial assistance and access to any materials and manpower needed to move and install ten roller coasters and other attractions as coasterb deems necessary to Washington DC.

This is a highly unusual move by the White House. Secretary Gibbs was unable to give any details about why this was happening in such economic times, who coasterb is, how coasters can be built under the current DC law that no structure may be taller than the Washington Monument, noise concerns, or even if Secret Service and the Ronald Regan Washington National Airport have been notified of the assumed large rides that will be built in the area. Secretary Gibbs left the press pool with the comment that the construction must be unprecedentedly completed by Labor Day of this year. Updates will be forthcomming when they become available.

In a seperate note coasterb announces, for obvious reasons, the availability for trade of California Screamin.

Myrtle Beach, SC- Controversy over some of the roller coasters that have been announced to go to the new X-Treme Thrills park has locals and coaster enthusiasts wondering "What is the CEO thinking?" The CEO of X-Treme Thrills has announced the coaster Greezed Lightnin', a coaster that apparently does not fit the understood theme of the new park. When the CEO was approached about the alleged "mistake" he denied that the coaster would be out of place. While he did not confirm the rumored theme, he did not deny it either. Another problem that arose was that two coasters that were announced have the same name. When approached about this problem, the CEO stated, "Do not worry, I have planned this out carefully and I have taken this into account and the public will be pleased with the results." Details on the next coaster to appear at the park have not been confirmed, but the CEO let it slip that the next coaster may cause a duplicate controversy. Rumors have also been circulating about the purchase of the land that used to be Myrtle Beach Pavilion. The CEO of X-Treme Thrills denied that the land will be used for this park, but for another park that the company is planning. The CEO stated that this park will be located further inland, but the exact location has not yet been released.

ORLANDO, FL- While waiting to make their 9th pick in the 2009 Coaster Draft, MPI has released a little bit more about their park. First off, they are mentioning that due to an almost successful trade proposition, there will in fact be one more B&M agreement that will be made over the course of the last two picks.
MPI has now also announced two more new attractions for their park as well as the names of each of the lands and one of their shows. Firstly, the park will consist of 5 lands: America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. The next two attractions they have mentioned are named: The Gran Fiesta Tour and Jungla. The Gran Fiesta Tour will be located in South America, and will feature The Three Cabelleros as they take you on a tour through Mexico. Jungla will be located in Africa, and will feature many animal exhibits along with a few small attractions. The next show they have announced is Jukebox Rock On Ice and will feature "impersonators" and dancers of the rock stars of the 50's while using music to guide the show on ice!

The Leo Hot Wheels City Corp has opened a Preview Center for our upcoming park. With the ability to educate the public with out displays and merchandise, the potential future guests are polled. Overall there is a good opinion on the offerings. Particularly one gets jeers of the enthusiasts community. Should I do something about that?
