COASTER DRAFT 2005 rules, FAQ & Sign up---on or after January 20th!

Ok if anybody has any questions or concerns, just post them here and I'll answer any questions that you have about this years draft. To answer a few questions I have received already. The draft will start sometime in June and coasters that are scheduled to open this year (Hades, Hydra, SheiKra, Kingda Ka, etc) will be included in the draft.

Here are last years threads in case anybody wants to check them out since the first thread covers all of the rules. Most of the rules will be the same as last years draft.

Coaster Draft 2004 Sign up

Coaster Draft 2004
http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/...t=30573&page=1

Just to go over a few of the important rules:

Banned: If for any reason you are banned during the draft, you will forfeit any picks that come up during the time you are banned, no exceptions. Also, if it is a permanent ban, you are eliminated from the draft. So stay out of trouble.

Coasters: We are once again only picking coasters from inside the United States and they must be active coasters. If a coaster is experiencing downtime, this does not mean it's not considered an active coaster. But if a coaster has not run in over a year or so or is not even standing any longer, it's not active. Also, once a coaster has been picked, you may not pick it. However, if there are clones of that coaster, you can pick those. Be specific in what coaster you pick by also naming the park it resides at.

24 hours When it is your selection, you have 24 hours from when the person before you has selected their coaster to pick your coaster. Also, depending on the situation, if I see that you are online and posting elsewhere and are neglecting to check the Coaster Draft, I will PM or IM you to remind you it is your turn. If you still haven't picked within a six hour span, the next person will be able to choose.

You can't be online all the time: If for some reason, you think that you won't be online during your pick because of any reason, PM or email me coasterlove@tmail.comyour selection of coasters that I will pick for you on your behalf. It also helps if I have your AIM s/n. I know many of last years members s/n's already. So feel free to IM me if you need anything.

Voting: The winner will be determined just as it was last year. Everyone will PM me their choice of the top parks giving them points based on their order. #1=10pts, #2=7pts #3=6pts, etc. Whoever has the most points, wins. Simple, isn't it?

If you read through the threads with the links I provided above, I think everything should be covered.

If you send me a PM, often I won't be able to confirm your PM since for some reason my sidekick doesn't allow me to do so. Don't worry, I'm getting your PM's. So far I've gotten confirmations from Meowcoaster1, sfft_2108, Phil, willski2002, EastCoastn07, Carowinds 73-03. On or after January 20th, this thread will be used to fill up the final open slots I have remaining and not until January 20th. For now, this thread is just for questions and comments.

To last years members, are there anything that can be done with the draft differently or perhaps better? I'm open to comments.

Thanks for participating.

I think he is asking some members who did it last year first then I don't know how he is gonna do it after that. I know he just wants 15 members. So I don't know how it is gonna work.

Basically, I'm giving all the members from last year's draft to reserve spots in this years draft. So far, Meowcoaster1, sfft_2108, Phil, willski2002, EastCoastn07, Carowinds 73-03 and RaptorXLC have reserved their spots. Last years members have until January 20th to reserve their spots. I also have given two other spots away. On January 20th, this thread will be an open enrollment for others to join to fill up all the spots remaining.

I also forgot to mention in detail how the draft order will be decided. I'm going to use the Super Bowl as the way to decide the order. You will make your best guess who will win and what the final score will be. Those who get the team right and are closer will go first. Regardless of score, those who pick the right team to win will go before those who picked the losing no matter if they were closer to the exact score. In case of any tie breakers, I might use the MVP as a tie breaker. Your choices will likely be QB, RB, WR, or defensive player.

I will not accept any PM's from anyone other than those in last years draft. On January 20th, when I make the annoucement, post if you want to be in the draft.

also, i noticed that last year the picking went in this order
round 1: 1,2,3,4,.....13,14,15 Round 2: 1,2,3,4,........,13,14,15.

i think it is a more fair way if you do it like this:
round 1: 1,2,3,4.....13,14,15 Round 2: 15,14,13......4,3,2,1 Round 3: 1,2,3,4..... and so on.

tha gives a fair chance to everyone to get the coasters they want. just a thought to consider. thanks.

Ok, here is the list of participants for the 2005 Coaster Draft-

1.coasterlove
2.Meowcoaster1
3.sfft_2108
4.Phil
5.willski2002
6.EastCoastn07
7.Carowinds 73-03
8.RaptorXLC
9.MachChunk
10. Bk2004
11. Coasterdude28
12. bgwfreak
13. Macyismydog
14. Deja Vu Rules
15. Hurricane
16. Diesel
17. Homer

I decided to make it 17 members so I didn't leave anyone out who wanted to participate. For the new members, the draft takes almost daily participation. I've posted many of the rules above. If there are any questions or if for any reason you may miss a pick, PM me, IM me at coasterlove2003. Also if you are PM'ing me a pick, also send me an email too at coasterlove@tmail.com

Now on to the draft order. After the football games this weekend, post who you think will win the Super Bowl and what the final score will be. This will be used to determine the draft order. You [can] post your score and edit it up until noon on the day of the Super Bowl. Do not edit your post after 12pm Central Time on the day of the Super Bowl. If you do so, you will automatically be dropped to the bottom of the draft. If there are any ties in point differential among the members, I'll use halftime score as a tiebreaker. Your post should look like this-

Team A 40
Team B 21
Final

Team A 21
Team B 14
Halftime

Again, if you have any questions, feel free to contact me. IM and email will usually be quickest.

Nah. The NFL, NBA, and NHL all do it like this:
Round 1:1,2,3.....16,17.
Round 2:1,2,3.....16,17.

So we should do it like that.

Well all the Fantasy Sports drafts go like......

Round 1:1,2,3.....16,17.
Round 2:17,16.....3,2,1

But I like this way better....

Round 1:1,2,3.....16,17.
Round 2:1,2,3.....16,17.

Its how you do on picking the score of the super bowl (or what ever way the draft ordeing it going to be decided) to determine your spot.

If you have the last pick that is your fault and you know it. lol.

Oh and... Coasterlove why is your name at the top of the list? Do you think you are better than us? HUH HUH?

Ok first off thanks for the invite into the draft this year ! ( I missed last years )

Anyway, let me see if I understand completley.

When our turn comes we pick the best coasters to build our "park" and at the end of the draft we will vote on each others parks and decide who had the best park??

Also, when voting on parks does it matter if a park has 2 hyper coasters, or are we just supposed to pick the best coasters regardless of type?

I just want to make sure I understand what's going on.

if you go to links that Coasterlove posted in the first post, you can see some sample parks from last year and the whole drafting thing. also, will this start the day after the super bowl or a week later? just wondering.

Yes that is correct. It is based on a point system. I believe any one can vote for their favorite "park"= all your coasters that you selected.

Right again. It doesn't matter what so ever what type of coaster you pick. For sake you could have all wooden coasters. But usually you want to try to have a variety of coasters to make your park more appealing.

I kinda feel bad answering these questions. But oh well. (Since I talk to Mark about everyday) He might want to comment a little more on what I said. So be prepared!!!

Thanks to sfft_2108, he basically explained or answered the questions but I'll elaborate on it. When picking coasters, you can pick them on whatever reasoning you wish to use. At the end we pick the 8 best parks in order of 1-8 out of the 17 parks that we make.

When I made my park, I tried to have a lot of variety, something that could interest everyone. That's also how I personally ranked the parks, what parks would I most want to go to if they were real. I looked for a wide variety and of course awesome coasters. But you can pick and later rank parks however and for whatever reasons you like. I just ask that you do it fairly based on the actual coasters they picked, not any biases you might have towards a member one way or the other.

I'll try and do better this year. I had some good coaster up until i got banned for 2 weeks and missed 3-4 rounds. After i got back i kept picking coasters but didn't really care what coasters they were, i figured i was already out of it by missing 4 rounds so i'll do much better this year.... Oh and try not to get banned again

And I plan on taking a step from 2nd place and taking RaptorXLC off the crown. I'm going to smash all the little girly-men once again in this draft.
