Six Flags declares Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Six Flags Files for Chapter 11 - WSJ.com

Quote:
Six Flags Inc., the world's largest regional amusement-park company, filed for bankruptcy protection early Saturday.

The theme-park company, shouldering more than $2 billion in debt, had been racing to restructure outside of court, negotiating with lenders, selling parks and laying off staff. But it couldn't outrun the deteriorating economy and a looming $288 million payment due preferred shareholders this August, along with $31 million in unpaid dividends.

Six Flags, whose theme parks attract more than 25 million visitors a year, said it filed Chapter 11 with a prearranged reorganization plan that garnered unanimous approval from its lenders' steering committee.

wow, why isn't this on the front page on TN for news! Well, I almost had a heart attack seeing the headline until I looked into it, discovering everything will seem the same and that this will not be similar to the Hard Rock Park bankruptcy.

Well once this mess clears up they'll hopefully come out of it with enough cash on hand to finally start investing in ALL of the parks again & not just the same 2 or 3 every year?

Which of those five parks have you been to? I would certainly not call La Ronde a bad park. It is directly in Montreal, and hosts a weekly fireworks show during the summer which is incredibly popular to locals and tourists alike, and there are ten coasters, two of them B&Ms, and it's only been three years since the last one, Goliath, which is a great ride.

Aside from all that, the park is clean, very big, has an interesting selection of food (French), and I personally enjoyed it more than Six Flags Great America. I mean, Goliath is better than Raging Bull, Cobra is better than Iron Wolf, and Vampire is for some reason significantly more powerful than either of the two B:TRs that I've been on (supposedly because the train is shorter, I'm not the first to notice such occurrence).

So I disagree with you, at least about La Ronde.

And even TGE, which has smaller than usual rides, but is also in Lake George, a family destination, isn't so bad. It's very well themed for a

Everytime I ride a coaster, it valleys. I've never been on a stalled coaster or had one roll back (except Wicked Twister and what was Superman: Ultimate Escape, which does that by design).
