General Contest Questions

Is there any criteria as to what to include, or what not to include?

If I build the perfect replication of Top Thrill Dragster, would it get the same grade as, say, a perfect replication of Raptor? They are completely different rides, and as Real pointed out in another thread, it would be like comparing apples to oranges.

There needs to be some sort of guidelines!

I disagree, Raptor and TTD can be compared in my book, but just barely. Both of them require a great deal of care in track shaping. Some would say "But Raptor is more intricate" Well, I have created 2 TTD recreations, one in day time, before the ride was ever built, the second, at night time, after I had many rides. I would say that just trying to perfect the angles on TTD has been harder than my recreation of Raptor that I am working on . Maybe its just me, but TTD was a pain in the butt as compared to Raptor.

Which brings me to another question, do recreations count and would they be graded the same way? IMO, should be graded harder, since anything freelance is just that, and any mistakes can be hidden by various things. On a recreation, it has to be perfect, and theres something to base it on.

But yes, as I asked, any criteria? seperation of wood and steel?

That twist must have been the main ***** in that TTD recreatoin lol. I like this round. We don't have any rules or templates to follow on this one. Hopefully the next one will be like that.

when the rules state 'steel' does that mean not wood or that it must be a simple steel, not inverted, floorless etc?

Steel, as in not wood. All other track types (other than wood) are fine.

What about a steel ride with wood supports? Something like Gemini at Cedar Point?

Just to make it rough for you guys.

Steel coasters are classified by the track type, so those would count.

Thanks coasterkid for answering. What he said is correct, no terrain or 3d objects. Car textures are allowed.

O yeah, are you allowed to make stuff out of supports. Like a building over the station or something? Or does that count as themeing?

If you want to, you can, although it will not really effect your score.

It could fall under the catagory of originality or creativeness. I'll have to leave it up to the judges!

I have another quick question. I'm in a situation where I need the supports to go thru the station platform (like on Deja Vu)? Is it okay if this happens because it does occur in real life.

Since it does occur in real life, yes, that is fine.

a quick question on g forces, at 100% timescale my g forces are slighly higher than the contest requirements but at 25% timescale the forces are fine, how would this be seen by the judges?

It's a framerate issue. They would run by it on 25% mode and it would be fine. It's just a framerate issue. If you had a killer computer they would probably show up fine.

Yeah, don't worry about that, it's just framerate related.

When is the winner for this contest going to be announced. I do not remember any form or rules stating when the winner would be announced and was wondering how long I would have to wait for the results.

I have a question about the April contest. Even though I did not follow the rules for the April NO Limits Contest by having a terrain file, I was wondering if it would still be possible to not disqualify my coaster. The terrain file can be deleted and the ride can be judged on flat land like any other ride in the contest. I spent too long designing the dynamics of the ride and the support structure for it not to be included in the contest. I am sorry for not reading the rules more closely but still feel that my coaster should be included in the contest and have a chance to win one of the prizes.

Thanks,
CoolCoasterMan

I'm sorry, but I can't make exceptions to the rules, so your ride will still be dq'd. Sorry you spent so much time, but there's nothing that I can do about it. Good luck with this month's contest though, and keep on building.

I have a general question on the Contest. I am now the third place winner and now may recieve that ThrillNetwork T-Shirt. How is this being delivered? And where do I have to tell my address, phone number and mailing address, where is it delivered to?

Please answer before it is too late, because I don't have much time, the contest rules say.

My april coaster stacked I think. Would that have gotten it dq'd? It didn't say no stacking, and I honestly didn't think no stopping included stacking also. Please answer...........

How do you get it not to stack with 3 trains and no MCBR!!! I am having so much trouble with that...

Meow, It got DQed, if the train stops on the ride it got DQed. Stacking is when the train stops. So therefore you were DQed.

I don't see what's so hard about fiddling with the timing, it take 15 minutes. Make sure your MCBR is actually around the MIDDLE or the ride. You should also have two blocks of brakes before the station. It's not hard.

I have two questions on the Contest:

1. What is the delivery time of the 2nd and 3rd price (T-Shirt) to get it in Holland. I won the 3rd place in the April Contest and I still haven't recieved my T-Shirt. When can I expect it?

2. At the SpeedZone Home page, the winners of the contest are displayed like:
G: Tropoli
S: Scorpion
B: Fear Factor
HM: (some name)
...
I suppose that G, S and B mean Gold, Silver and Bronze. What does HM stand for?
