General Contest Questions

Is there any criteria as to what to include, or what not to include?

If I build the perfect replication of Top Thrill Dragster, would it get the same grade as, say, a perfect replication of Raptor? They are completely different rides, and as Real pointed out in another thread, it would be like comparing apples to oranges.

There needs to be some sort of guidelines!

I disagree, Raptor and TTD can be compared in my book, but just barely. Both of them require a great deal of care in track shaping. Some would say "But Raptor is more intricate" Well, I have created 2 TTD recreations, one in day time, before the ride was ever built, the second, at night time, after I had many rides. I would say that just trying to perfect the angles on TTD has been harder than my recreation of Raptor that I am working on . Maybe its just me, but TTD was a pain in the butt as compared to Raptor.

Which brings me to another question, do recreations count and would they be graded the same way? IMO, should be graded harder, since anything freelance is just that, and any mistakes can be hidden by various things. On a recreation, it has to be perfect, and theres something to base it on.

But yes, as I asked, any criteria? seperation of wood and steel?

That twist must have been the main ***** in that TTD recreatoin lol. I like this round. We don't have any rules or templates to follow on this one. Hopefully the next one will be like that.

when the rules state 'steel' does that mean not wood or that it must be a simple steel, not inverted, floorless etc?

Steel, as in not wood. All other track types (other than wood) are fine.

What about a steel ride with wood supports? Something like Gemini at Cedar Point?

Just to make it rough for you guys.

Steel coasters are classified by the track type, so those would count.

Thanks coasterkid for answering. What he said is correct, no terrain or 3d objects. Car textures are allowed.

O yeah, are you allowed to make stuff out of supports. Like a building over the station or something? Or does that count as themeing?

If you want to, you can, although it will not really effect your score.

It could fall under the catagory of originality or creativeness. I'll have to leave it up to the judges!

I have another quick question. I'm in a situation where I need the supports to go thru the station platform (like on Deja Vu)? Is it okay if this happens because it does occur in real life.
