August NoLimit Contest: Launch

This thread is for entries only. Please comment on individual rides in their SpeedZone link, or take another thread or take it to the contest discussion. Comments in this thread will be deleted.

For the month of August, ThrillNetwork will hold a coaster design contest using the NoLimits software, the winner of which will receive a Six Flags season pass good at all Six Flags parks. Additionally, second and third place winners will receive a NoLimits ThrillNetwork T-shirt. All winners will have their coasters posted and featured on the official NoLimits web site.

Six Flags season pass prizes for the ThrillNetwork's NoLimits Coaster contest made possible by the generous sponsorship by Six Flags.

August Contest: Launch

Contestants must create a coaster with a launch. Due to the more complex rules of July's contest, we have simplified things this month. Have fun and create the best launch ride you can.

- -1.5 to +5 vertical g's.
- -1.5 to +1.5 lateral g's
- Max +2 Acc g's (g's that occur during the launch)
- Maximum track length of 7,000 ft.
- Use either transport or lift segments for launch (if using lift segments, must provide a launch experience)
- Multiple (seperate) launch segments are allowed (though try not to overuse them)
- Your choice: Steel or Wooden Track.
- Must run 3 trains (stacking is allowed)
- 3d objects are allowed, but will not be judged
- Terrain is allowed.
- Must pass tunnel test (no close calls/collisions inside the tunnel)
- E-stop must pass. Note, if you are using transport segments for your launch, you must provide a safe means for a stop if it rolls back toward the station. Any collision on a launch e-stop will be disqualified.

Entering your track

Alternate Method:
1) Log into the site (from the main site at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/ or SpeedZone, not the forums)
2) Go to http://www.thrillnetwork.com/speedz...contestform.php
3) Upload your file, and enter the necessary info. You may only enter one (1) track per contest month

August Entry

Here's my entry for NL Contest

Medusa Blue

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/speedzo...w.php?file=619#

This was built originally from a recreation I built a while ago of Medusa... well, this is my idea of a new Medusa and this time she's upset!. E-Stops work, LIM and fail safe system works, max Lat. G's are about 1.0 and Vert. G's are around 4.3 max. Acc. G's are safely within limits. Station wait time is a little higher then most I've seen but I am trying to immagine loading and unloading 32 passengers at a time so I think it's close. Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this Modified Medusa cause I think it would be cool to see one of these with a LM Launch.

Thanks,
~ASW~

Twin Red Lines - August Contest entry

This is my first contest entry, so some things may not be the way they are supposed to be, but I wanted to try it anyway. Everything is under limits, but some just barely. I hope you will try it, and like it. suggestions to make it better, or to help with my design technique, are warmly welcomed. Unjust criticism will be ignored.

August Launched Coaster

This is my launched coaster entry. I was going for an Intamin style layout and focused on realism with a decent footprint. I wanted to be a feasible track layout that Intamin themselves might create without it being cliche. Basically realistic, but not a near clone. It meets all the tunnel tests including the trees around the high speed curve. I wanted those to be a headchopper type effect. Also the G's come close to the parameters, but are within them. In several places that took forever to get correct.
I am pretty proud of my coaster and hopefully you enjoy it. Let me know what you think and where I could improve.
Thanks

**Not sure if I uploaded it in the correct spot. If not I am sorry. I did do it the other way though too. Sorry for the confusion this might have caused.
