September NL Contest Results

Rates are not in rank order.

Eric Leppen – Japanese Revolution

Trackwork - Your ride was pumpy in places, but not really pumpy in places, so I guess you’re starting to crack the game. The G’s were under control, no crazy heavy ones, and the laterals were pretty well done too. I liked your supports; they were mostly pretty good in places and had connectors. You scored a couple of collisions, one huge one with a horizontal post in the bunny hills, and some trees in the turns at the end.
7.75/10

Speed/Adrenaline – Ride started off pretty cool, but it really began to slow down a ton, especially by the MCBR. Your helixes were kind of slow in places, but nothing to terrible. You should really work on speeding your ride up some. I know you had a limited height, but you could have made the ride shorter and would have been more exciting. 6.75/10

Originality/Coolness – Interesting first drop, your ride was more twisted then most coasters. I didn’t quite like the paint scheme much, I think it was tan that threw me off (did not rate down for colors, that’s mean).I liked how the ride seemed to twist all over the place. Your scenery was nice, and it provided a different look than from what I’m used to.
7.75/10

Other Comments – If you care about realism, I would recommend only using one set of stairs on the side of the lift instead of two, Intamin coasters generally have 1 staircase, B&M’s usually have two. Next time make your ride faster, and maybe put in a small subtle terrain, like a little lake or something.
Ride Rate: 74.1/100

---------------------------------------------------
Rooij's Ride (i'll change it when I get home)

Trackwork – You ride had a couple of rough and jerky spots and some pumping. Your G’s were mostly under control, so good job on that. The one main thing you should have worked on was your supports. To me they looked very lazy because they were just autosupports with some deletion. You should have at least reinforced the sides so then the ride wouldn’t topple over in real life. You had a collision on the right of the first drop.
6.5/10

Speed/Adrenaline – Your ride was pretty good in the speed department. You kept it up most of the time. The only problems were the MCBRs, you didn’t really need them, you could have just ran two trains. The supports added to the adrenaline, but not as much as some nice realistic supports.
7.75/10

Originality/Coolness – Well it was neat to see someone try to make a ride similar to California Screamin, but your supports were bad and I think it could have been pulled off better by using bracing and using the steel supports instead of actual wooden ones. Your terrain was very cool and really gave the ride a different flavor.
7.5/10
Ride Rate: 72.5/100

--------------------------------------------------

Robocoasterdude – Tidal Wave

Trackwork – Your track was pretty smoothed and well shaped. You didn’t have any questionable transitions that were too fast or any crazy G’s. Your supports seemed alittle bit thin in some areas, mainly on the lift and on that hill afterwards, but otherwise, they were great. Good job in this area.
7.5/10

Adrenaline/Speed – Ride kept up a pretty good speed. I liked your first drop, it was pretty dang steep. The hill after that was really well done too. The only thing I could have asked for was more airtime. It seems that everyone makes more twists and turns than I do.
7.25/10
Originality/Coolness – Your supports were pretty neat, and the layout reminded me of a Goliath/S:ROS layout. I liked the beginning a ton. Great job on this ride. Build more in the future.
7.5/10

Other Comments – At the very end, the last turn was extremely awkward. Try to make your turns have a more constant radius because the turn just seemed to level out and then start right up again.
Ride Rate: 74.1/100

--------------------------------------------------------------
Real – Quatro

Trackwork – Your supports were well done, best of the entries, as was your trackwork, which was the best of the entries. Everything was smooth and relatively pump free. I liked all of the heartlining and the attention to detail in the spines and such.
9/10

Adrenaline/Speed – You got a high score here too. I love how you managed to make great headchoppers on your ride. I loved the turnaround area with that crazy helix, it was awesome and well done. Your ride also kept up a good amount of speed, except in that final helix. You didn’t really drop too slow though. You had the twists, and the airtime, which I liked a lot.
9.5/10

Originality/Coolness – I loved your layout, it managed to have a crazy amount of turns, and it also had airtime. You did a really good job with this ride. I love all of your rides, especially your TTD recreation. Good job, and make another, using 4 days was a fine amount of time.
9.25/10

Ride Rate: 92.5
----------------------------------------------------
First Place - Real
Second Place - Robocoasterdude
Third Place - Eric Leppen
Fourth Place - Rkooij

*Since there was a tie, I went with Tidal Wave because Eric's track had collisions.

Not bad for a beginner I think. Can anyone tell me how to transform the wooden support into steel tubes?
And just to let you know, I didn't do deletions from my auto-supports, it was just auto-support.
It's a shame that I can't join the October Mini contest, because I don't have the 1.5 version and 1.3 doesn't have launched starts... :S
Thanks for commenting! I enjoyed joining the contest, even after ending last out of four...
PS What is "air-time"?

Highlight the tubes you want "transformed", go to the support menu, hit the support type that you want "H-beam, L-beam, etc" and click "transform tubes". Everything will be wordly slightly, different but you get the idea.

That beatuiful feeling when you lift out of your seat on a roller coaster. It also feels like you're being pull upwards if you have the restraint all of the way down.

PS, I'll change the name when i get home, I forgot about it, and don't double post, use the "edit" button next time.

OK, that works... (transforming the supports) but it still isn't the best looking coaster in the world... hehe :S
Next time I'll try to do my best on the supports...

I HOPE that you'll keep in mind that there are still people with lower versions than NL1.5! What I mean is that some coasters can't be build with NL1.3, shuttle coasters for example! That way, some people are already eliminated...
