February Official No Limits Contest

This month's contest involves creating the best full circuit Intamin inverted coaster possible. The rules and track entering procedure is shown below, as well as some links to pictures of real Intamin Inverted roller coasters at the bottom.

Restrictions:
-Lateral G limit is between +1.5 and -1.5
-Vertical G limit is between +5 and -1.8.
-You may use either a launch or a lift hill, or a conbination of both.
-Must be full circuit
-You may move the starting point of the track
-3DS and other add-ons are allowed, they will be deleted before judging, so make sure the ride works without them. Terrain is allowed and will not be destroyed before judging.
-In game trees are allowed
-No recreations allowed
-Must be an original track
-Entry must be uploaded to Speedzone at www.Thrillnetwork.com/speedzone on or before February 28th, 11:59 Eastern Time (United States)
-The G restrictions are not set in stone, it's just generally a good idea to follow them for realisms sake.
---------------------------------------
Entering Your Track
1) Log into the site (from the main site at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/ or SpeedZone, but not the forums)
2) Go to SpeedZone at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/speedzone/
3) Select the file you wish to upload and any pictures in the "Upload/Manage Files" tool. Only the track file must be zipped. Also, be sure to include as detailed of a description as possible.
4) When uploading your ride, be sure to check the box that says "Check this box to submit for this month's NoLimits Contest".
5) When the above steps have been completed, click on the "Submit" button. Your file should upload and your track will be submitted for the month's contest.
6) If it fails, check your file sizes, whether or not they are correct extensions, or if you are behind a firewall that may not be properly configured. Those are all common reasons for upload failures.

The limit is one contest entry per month. First place winners become ineligible once they win a prize (2004 winners may participate, however).
------------------------------------
Judging Criteria:
- Building Technique such as G-forces, smoothness, blocking, supports, track shaping.
- How fun the ride is
- Original or unique ideas
------------------------------------
Tornado - Parque De Attraciones Photos
Tornado - Särkänniemi Amusement Park Photos
Volcano, The Blast Coaster - Paramount's Kings Dominion Photos

what? intamin makes inverts? lol. as always, i'll try to enter. i really want a season pass, but i'm trying to cut down my nolimits (i'm down from 2 packs a day to just one ). this seems like it would be a fun type of track to make.

btw, even though i may not get a ride in, i want to thank you ahead of time for finally allowing 3ds. i understand that it won't be judged, but it may make for some more interesting entries.

I don't get it. 3-D's are allowed, but they will be deleted, so what's the point of them!!

so that if you really want 3ds in your ride and you are really proud of it and want to remember it for years to come, you don't have to upload a non 3ds version for the contest and a second 3ds version for the general public. atleast that's why i've always wanted it.

I was going to suprise everyone and toss in a track for the January one which is going on for a few more days. However, I think since what i had going wasnt too great that Ill switch and start on this one

But I have alot going on in February so its no guarantee and shouldnt detract anyone from getting into this.

It seems like a lot of fun. I used that track type once. ONCE. Time for a new coaster of this type. Aren't there any height restrictions? Anything from 50 ft to 400 ft is allowed?

If you feel like making the supports for a 400ft complete circuit intamin invert, go right ahead.

if ejatwd could do it for a hyper, how much more time could it take to do it to an invert?

Considerably more time, because inverted coaster supports are more complex.

Yesterday a member asked me if I using using both a lift and a launch combination was allowed. I don't care what you do, as long as it's a complete circuit (It's allowed). I added this to the rules at the top of the thread.

I just realized that the Intamin INverted doesn't have rail settings on the lift hill. Are you going to take that into consideration?

If my coaster appears to have a B&Mish layout, will that cost points? 'Cause I do not really have an idea what a Intaminish layout would look like...

I dont think replicating the exact style is nessicary. Just do your best, come up with something cool, fun and original. Certainly if you totally replicated a B&M design Id probably wonder why, but if you look at the links posted in the bottom part of the rules youll see some key characteristics of Intamin designs.

If you sign up for this site http://www.onride.de/downloads.php?cat=1&-1 youll notice there is a POV of Tornado, one of the Intamin Inverts (not my fave, but still cool nonetheless) All you have to do is sign up for the forums, then log in. No cost, nothing hidden.

Your talking about the walkway along the side right? If so, there is rail settings, just have to set them.

Track Upgrade

Even if I have already submitted a track to the contest, is it possible to submit a later version of the same track to the contest if I make improvements on it?

Charactoristics I have assumed from pictures.
-Straight section at top of lift hill
-Loops have truss supports
-Have barrel rolls usually.

Not many are around, so straying far from the design isn't too difficult I don't think.

We will not penalize people for things that cannot be helped, like the rail settings.
