Alex T, any insight into my question about the year of the season pass? Thanks.

I believe that it's only a 2005 season pass, as that is how the sponsorship works. However, I'm not positive.

That's what I expected. Thanks. I'll probably still enter anyways, since I have about 2/3 of trackwork done anyways. It's looking good so far! I can't wait to see the other entries too to see what choices they made as far as coaster type and layout.

Before judging are 3ds objects deleted from the track?

The reason I ask is that I am thinking about making 3ds track connectors for the supports and if they are deleted none of my supports would be touching the track.

I dont think it would matter, On my June entry I had 3ds that was essential to the structure and it didnt seem to affect the rating.

They're deleted. Stuff like that where it's real obvious what you're doing we'd let go because it's real obvious what you were doing.

My trackwork is about 4/5 complete! Only the last section to add, then some realistic terraforming and supporting. My ride is slightly longer in track length than I expected, but with it's pacing it doesn't seem too long at all. Expect a never-before-seen element in this ride too I've been wanting to implement it into one of my NL coasters, but it's never fit well into the layout like it does here. I hope you all like it when it's done. I've put a lot of work into it so far, even putting some of my other projects temporarily on hold to finish this one, and I'm definately excited about how it's coming along (I'm sure you can tell lol).

Without releasing too many details to spoil your surprise, how's everyone else's entry going?

I'm trying to decide on two designs: one shuttle coaster that I made a month or so ago, that is completely origanal, and meets the requirements, and a hyper-inverter that got its track work done tonight. one would get major origanality points, the other great smoothness and track-work. Ill judge them myself (and have others do it) tommorow so i can do scenery and supports (ive only supported 3 coasters....).\

And one question for the judges: where do you count the height, spine to spine, top of the front of the car, or where?

Thanks much.

I would think from the rails of the highest piece of track to the rails of the lowest piece of track at the end of the drop. However, the ride doesn't have to be 200 feet above the ground at any point. According to the rules, it has to drop 200 feet. You could make something like Phantom's Revenge that would be within regulations for this contest.

Rails of the highest piece of track is where we count height. On an inverted it's the same situation.

Thanks Matt M, but like I said, the rules are looking for drop length, not height. As far as I understand, you'll be fine with a max height of 50 feet above the ground, for example, if you have a drop of atleast 200 feet somewhere within your track. Just wanted to make sure of that fact.

Top of the rails at the high point to the top of the rails at the low point. It could be a helix, drop, tophat, twist and dive, loop, immelman, whatever.

I'm pretty sure the first drop has to have a drop of at least 200 ft. That was my understanding.

Nope, it never said that. It said that it must have atleast a 200 foot drop. It didn't specify which drop had to be 200 feet.

It just has to have a 200 ft drop at one point in the ride. It could be like your standard hyper, or more like Phantom's Revenge where the second drop is into a ravine and over 200ft.

It is not a drop when it contains a piece of track where it goes up, is it? I mean, it must keep doing down all the time. But my coaster has various 200+ ft drops, it is a B&M Hyper but I have to remove some lats.

two questions:

Do you ride in a specific seat or is it random?
and
Are Custom supports allowed, and if they are, do points get taken off because they arent hand made?

thank ya

Supports are judged on a scale of 1 to 10. The better you make them, the better the score. Yes custom supports are allowed. And usually the ride is ridden in the front seat.

If there is an underground tunnel on the coaster, do you get points off for going through the land when you enter?

And are prefab supports a problem if track is, say, 15 ft above the ground, i.e. when it does not really matter if you drag a tube yourself or just click a prefab?

btw my coaster is going well.

Not a problem Erik. Yes points will be docked if you run into land.

alright, two last questions:

- I know community projects aren't allowed, but can someone do things like 3Ds that arent judged anyways?

and

- if supports on my track are connected to my tunnel (wrapped around), will points be taken of for not connecting to the track?

thanks

^And with regards to the 3ds question asked above, could I submit an environment made by someone else? Or are environments judged as well?

Environments and extras like 3DS or a cartexture are not judged.

Does that mean that you usually miss the opportunity to ckeck/judge a ride's smootness, pumping & backseat-g's? I can't imagine and very much hope you do not either...

It might be seen as a matter of taste by some, but IMHO true building technique will *only* show to the full extent when seen from both first and last row.

We've all seen so many comments & ratings about so called "smooth" tracks. In fact these were (sometimes horribly) pumpy and jerky, g-forces that were in range in front got out of hand when riding in the back. All happening because the person rating was either too lazy or too unexperienced (mostly) to take just another turn in the last car...

As i said, i can't imagine you proceeding that way with such a reputed contest as on TN, but i'd be very interested in a more detailed answer. Thanx in advance.

redunzelizer, somewhat irritated.

You entering Red? Just wondering.

It will be ridden in back seat, I believe, I mean, in some previous contest that was said. And you can't fully judge a track when you only ride front. I don't think you have to be irritated Redunzelizer, they ride back seat, and if they miraculously* don't, they will do it after reading this.

And my coaster is about finished, but I yes have to think of a name.

*so it was at least useful that i have learned that word at school

Me wondering too. I do *plan* to enter the Sept or Oct. contest. (waiting for a way tougher one too)

But as some of you might know about me already, the *year* of entering is not fixed yet!.

We don't always ride in the back because the g's are different. However, when judging the final top rides, we do go back and look at the ride from the back seat and judge the smoothness and ride from back there.
