August Official NL Contest

For the month of August, ThrillNetwork will hold a coaster design contest using the NoLimits software, the winner of which will receive a Six Flags season pass good at all Six Flags parks. Additionally, second and third place winners will receive a NoLimits ThrillNetwork T-shirt. All winners will have their coasters posted and featured on the official NoLimits web site. For those who win that are not living in the United States, you will be receiving a prize package instead of the season pass. You may only win once.

Six Flags season pass prizes for the ThrillNetwork's NoLimits Coaster contest made possible by the generous sponsorship by Six Flags.

This is the last official contest.

Rules:
-2 to +5 Vertical G's
-2 to +2 Lateral G's

No other rules. This is the last month, and it is an open month. Show off your best work. Your ride cannot be a ride you have already entered into this contest.

Entering your track:
1) Log into the site (from the main site at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/ or SpeedZone, but not the forums)
2) Go to SpeedZone at http://www.thrillnetwork.com/speedzone/
3) Select the file you wish to upload and any pictures in the "Upload/Manage Files" tool. Only the track file must be zipped. Also, be sure to include as detailed of a description as possible.
4) When uploading your ride, be sure to check the box that says "Check this box to submit for this month's NoLimits Contest".
5) When the above steps have been completed, click on the "Submit" button. Your file should upload and your track will be submitted for the month's contest.
6) If it fails, check your file sizes, whether or not they are correct extensions, or if you are behind a firewall that may not be properly configured. Those are all common reasons for upload failures.

DEADLINE: August 31, 11:59PM ET

The limit is one contest entry per month. First place winners become ineligible once they win a prize (2004 winners may participate, however).

Two questions:

1. Is the this last official contest of the year or ever?

2. Can I enter a coaster that I started last month? It's not even close to being done though (no supports, no terrain, some track issues).

Its the last contest of the season. (We don't hold No Limits contests where you win a Season Pass in the offseason, cause where would you use it?).

You may enter a track no matter how old, as long as it has not been entered in any previous contests (Here, or other websites).

So will there be non-prize winning contests or some kind of monthly contests after this one?

When you mean +5 vertical G's do you mean the max we can go is +5 or if we go +5 we get points knocked off/disqualified?

^Anything to 5.0 is allowed, 5.0 itself is allowed, no matter what color it has, as long as it isn't 5.1 or more. Same with lats. 2.0 is fine, but if you have a 2.1 you're getting dq'ed.

Is that supposed to be the trademark B&M dip, because it sure doesn't look it. The dips are usually much, much tighter.

Still doesn't really seem right, has to be tighter, and have a smaller drop, like a dip, just to release the train from the chain.

Your ride is fine if it was entered in another contest on a different website, it just can't be a ride that you have submitted to one of our contests.

I've put Fantastico on hold and moved on to something I can do all custom, since I'm no good at building inversions, I'm now building a large B&M Hypercoaster.

Hey I added my ride for the August Contest. I actually got third in the June contest last year, and this is my first time doing it again. I never got my shirt, but wasn't a big deal. I rather win the pass, that is the only thing worth going for. Also I just like the honor of saying I got 3rd and placed. This time I am going with more of a wood twister. It is called Wild Wild Thing. check it out and tell me if you like it.

here is a link to pictures and stuff.

thanks,
David

We've got your ride. Sorry for the delay, my internet has been down for the past week due to some crappy sprinkler installer guys that deicded it would be a good idea to cut the cable when digging into the ground.

Thares my in progress entry. If you have any comments, i have a thread for it:

http://www.thrillnetwork.com/boards/...ad.php?t=35825

Its a B&M hyper, even though the track layout and supports dont look like B&Mish.

Will your coaster be penalized if it dosn't pass the tunnel test? I am building an inverted coaster for the contest and there is one small violation. I am wondering if this will drastically lower my score.

Very small collisions won't really affect the score, but anything serious can result in a DQ.

However, if you can get them out, do so because collisions don't really help your score get higher
